I am disgusted by the way my club is going.

I am vehemently opposed to the warmonger John Reid being appointed chairman of Celtic Football Club. The club's supporters have a proud history of respect for, and solidarity with, oppressed peoples throughout the world. The illegal invasion of Iraq has resulted in the deaths of thousands of innocent people. We believe that Mr Reid's appointment is an insult to us and our heritage.

Please support the petition below, even if you are not a Celtic supporter but you to where opposed to the illegal invasion and subsequent occupation of Iraq.

I don't think this really belongs on here - the discussion is taking place on all the Celtic boards & is best taking place there.

I agree that this isn't probably the best forum to have any in depth discussion about the situation and the going on's at CP but I think its important that as many people outwith the Celtic fora are alerted to the fact that the support are not exactly over exuberant about the appointment of this pit bull.

To be honest mate Outside of the interweb I think 99% of Celtic supporters couldn't give a fcuk.

Don't see why the thread should be deleted if people are not interested then the thread will soon fall off the page.

I think 99% of Celts do care about their football, their club, their culture and their heritage. 

I wasn't talking about Celtic's culture or heritage I was talking about the appointment of John Reid as chairmen and as I said apart from on internet forums I reckon 99% of Celtic fans do not care about this appointment.

I'm sorry but that is a ludicrous statement. You are suggesting that supporting a certian football team gives you the moral high ground over supporters of other teams. Its the same argument I have had to put up with for years from the Trots - that somehow they were better than me because of their politics.

First and foremost we are a football team. a sporting organisation. Despite our roots and charitable beginnings, our club now belongs in the 21st century - and our demanding fans expect us to compete with the likes of manchester utd, ac milan, barcelona etc. We are not going to do that while holding onto some outdated marxist notions.

Look around you - the grandchildren of the poor immigrants this club was formed to help are now the CEOs, managing directors, MPs and MSPs of our time.

I am no socialist - does that mean I am not welcome at your Celtic FC either ?
