Cheating is rife on the internet in cash games.

So why do people find it amazing that cheating has allegedly happened in the biggest online tourney?

Its a sad but true story that when so much money is involved that some people will use ANY tactic they can to gain an advantage.

I think your just all cycnics, this is clearly the feel good story of the poker year! I would like to offer my congratulations to Mark (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=263) Teltscher (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=263)'s sister, playing her first online tournament under account 'thev0id' she wins the WCOOP Main event. Unlucky to Mark playing in the same event as his novice sister from (reportedly) the same IP, he managed a dissapointing 2,000 and something place finish. Well done Mark's sister, what are the odds of doing so much better than your pro-poker player, EPT winning brother! Heart warming tail.

Is Mark a blondeite himself ? - would be interesting to hear his side of the story if this is the case...

Quote
The investigation into the WCOOP Main Event has now been concluded.

We have determined, based on the totality of evidence, that the tournament winner “TheV0id” was in breach of the PokerStars Terms of Service.

In the interests of Game Integrity, “TheV0id” has been disqualified from first place.

All other WCOOP Main Event prizewinners in addition to the player who originally bubbled in 415th place will therefore advance one place in the prize pool. The necessary financial adjustments to reflect the revised tournament places will be made within the next 24 hours.

Please note that we are unable to release further details of this investigation, for reasons of confidentiality and privacy.

Stephen W.
Manager, PokerStars Game Security

with this and the AP account 363 stuff, it's a bad time for internet poker but respect to PS for having the balls to do the right thing.

Can someone explain why he/she has been disqualified, or point me in the direction of the story?

you're not allowed to have multiple accounts in tournaments

The only fact that is known is that the winning account was completely new and had never played a MTT.  Some have stated that the winning account was in the name of Mark Teltcher's sister.  I can only imagine that PS concluded that the registered user of the account was not playing - this is a breach of their terms of service.

I wonder how this all came out in the first place. If he had not been so much of a **** that pretty much everyone seems to dislike the guy, would he have got caught? Was the leak from Stars or were Stars told about it?

Apparently Natalie has admitted that she was referring to Mark Strahan's poker book throughout the tournament, which PokerStars have deemed gave her an unfair advantage over the field, hence the disqualification.

Yes, According to reports, she used it as a pillow when she took a power nap during the breaks ;)

Next week's Sunday Million on Stars may be a bit more manageable as there'll only be a couple of hundred players :)

Bravo to Poker Stars ....
Integrity is everything and PS seems to be trying to lead the way.

Yah Boo Sucks to cheats and gainers of pecuniary advantage... If you cant do it in a live card room why the heck should you be able to do it live ...

Imagine Multi tabling the Main Event in the world series!!!

Good read - stopped and read some of his other blog entries and realised I am knowhere near as sick as
some of the poker players out there.  His quad 5 vs Q 10 hand in heads up was hilarious ...
