Saw this in the press yesterday. Like it lots as a back up laptop. Only issue is the dreaded Vista.

What do others think?

What do you think of the PC? (not my money management :) )

I got a Toshiba from laptops direct.   It is nothing fancy, but it allows me to lose money every day on pokerstars, get killed at backgammon on Ladbrokes, watch Prison break,  watch youtube, read blonde, play CD'S/DVD,  surf the net, read wikipedia and BBC News,  and do everything I require.    It was about £300 .

That's what I meant!

Looks decent enough, think you'll have a hard time finding a laptop without vista at the minute although that might change now MS are keeping XP around a little longer.

2GB of RAM, a large hard drive, and decent processor.  I think it's a decent spec, and I think you'd be fairly hard-pushed to find a similarly specced laptop for that price.

Well, that's what I thought when I saw it and why I asked if it was a good price.

Medion laptops are fine, until you need to call support - it's quite disastrous. Had to replace my neice's hard disk and the twunts would not send me replacement XP media (which they store on a partition on the hard disk).

Hard disk goes belly up outwith warrany- your snookered really, without resorting to 3rd party help.

As for Vista, flatten the laptop and install XP from any media and use the registration key from your existing pc.

Dougie.

It would have cost a few grand then.

Go for it, if it was me though I'd be putting windows XP on it.

Your getting a good spec for the price.

Dougie.

Actually i don't know how it compares to a dualcore processor, mine is a pentium4 2.8ghz.

The new processers in laptops are far more advanced than P4's... and dont have the tendency to overheat like the P4s did in laptops.

Mine for example is a 2Gz AMD Turion 64 x 2... which is pretty damn good.

What I find is people get confused between Dual Core ( PC processors) and Core Duo ( laptop processors)

More powerful in that it uses more electricity, likely. More powerful as in higher benchmarks / greater performacne, very unlikely.

That is a decent spec. It is much better than the usual £300-£450 deals. Beats a lot of £600+ laptops.

Only a 1280x800 resolution screen though. Some people may want larger, or may want to add an external monitor to it.
