Title: Be Gentle With Me....
Post by: The Camel on October 16, 2007, 07:05:06 PM
Channel 4, 12:40am tonight..

It was my first (and probably last attempt) at this... and it was alot more difficult than it looks!

Seriously, all constructive criticism appreciated.

Keith, was there something wrong with your mic ?  You came through very quiet.

And is it me, or does it look like Bazza has lost weight ?

Done well so far keith.

Have played against Richard, but think the TV cameras really affected his game, not his best performance me thinks.

Unlucky v Barry Neville.

Pretty disappointed how it turned it really.

Thought the content was ok, but I mumbled terribly, you could hardly hear a word I said... and no the mic was working perfectly.. it was the dick at the end of it who was to blame :(

I'm almost tempted to come down to London to pick up those Wispa Action Man promised me to cheer myself up!

I think the actual content of what you said was good, better than most. As you said shame it seemed a little quiet. Some of the play last night was really questionable a couple of the players were making some shocking laydowns.

i thought u were sound keith , you comment was logical and to the point , when we were in a situation , like when i had the flush draw on 866 board and tom had the tt , i was worried about the higher flush or an overpair makin a possible full house ,,,,,,,,,,, you explained wat was in my head perfectly.........

if that had been the ept that daft irish bloke who talks nonsense wud have spouted some crap.............

so yes youwere a little quiet but it was the detail that impresed well done

Keith, or anyone, is this repeated at all later this week?

Yes a bit quiet but don't beat yourself up over it, the content as said above was spot on. The volume of your voice is down to the sound engineers to pick up and to point out to you to talk louder.

Oh yes, Ed is very shy and finds it hard to talk about his time on TV.

just got caught up off sky+

good job Keith. I like a commentator to try and talk you through a players reasoning for a play, even if it's opposite to how they'd play themselves. A running critique isn't what we're after IMO

Thats my big problem with Roy Brindleys commentating on Poker Million. In the interview with Tikay on poker week he came across as a nice bloke. commentating, he comes across as an ass, constantly explaining how badly everyone's playing.

Enjoyed your work.

I think commentating on poker would be very hard i liked ure work camel but i could hardly make u out to be honest!

I think brindley is very good and barney boatman too but ian fraser is the biggest shit talker ever such a overrated player too

I thought the commentary was insightful and very well explained, nice to have someone who understands the game talking us through the plays and the reasons the players have for making them (even if they're wrong), rather than slagging them off or saying you've got to bosh it in there with A9/there's no way you can call with A9 there (delete as applicable dependng what the other fella has). Wouln't have noticed the sound if  hadn't read this post before watching on Sky Plus but that's by the by I thnk it was very good as most of them have been. Look forward to the likes of Paul Parker, JP and the Mantis later in the series, hope they keep up the standard

I thought you were excellent Keith. I liked the quietness of your commentary as personally I don't like it when the commentators get all excited and start shouting and screaming. I hope you do more commentary work as I think you could make a name for yourself as 'Whispering' Keith Hawkins.

watching now, and I have to say the sound seems fine to me, and Keith's insight is excellent.

I just cant quite get over the lay down of the Jacks by Richard Ashby.....unbelievable ;gobsmacked;

Watched this earlier in the week without paying much attention to who was actually providing the analysis.

I do remember being impressed with a lot by of the comments and analysis of the possible thought processes going on.

Sound quality seemed absolutely normal too.

Well done.   ;applause;

My thoughts exactly. The inane shouting & screaming we so often hear is designed to artificially inject excitement, but only serves to dumb down the content.

I thought it was "just right".

More of the same please.
