Title: Bad beat or horrid play?
Post by: Acidmouse on October 17, 2007, 11:55:14 AM
Not sure on this one, £10 freezeout Moortown Leeds Monday.

45 Players left in, Blinds 100/200 I have around 10k Chips.

I was at this table for about 1hr 20mins before this happened, up to now people were making alot of loose calls and only over betting was taking people off hands.

Dealt  Qh Qc I was on the Button. There was a raise to 500 and 3 people called when it came to me, I thought I would overbet my pair and bet 3k, everyone folded round to someone who took an age to call. I thought AK or middle pair.

Flop  Jd 2h  8s He passed I pushed my remaining 6kish he instant calls with  Jc Js and its bye bye from me.

How bad did I play this hand? The only hand I was scared off when I pushed all in was Jacks...

Not much you can do here.

I've played in similar games where there are 9 limpers whith the blinds 25/50 and you are on the big blind so you make it 300 and you get 9 callers anyway!

So if it was that type of game then your big overbet pre-flop is justified as it got you heads up with one other player. Which is pretty much what you want when holding QQ

It's just unlucky that the one player hit the flop.

u did nothing wrong..had the same thing happen 2 me in a big festival event whilst holding aces v JJ  ...he hit a 2 outer on u. it happens. question we need to ask is why this pratt is limping multiway with JJ...standard donkey play from weak player..last thing u want with a vulnerable hand like JJ is a multiway pot.

First reply/post for me.

Heads up is what you were looking for & you got it.  You could have checked back to let him bet, but what would you have done with a re-raise after your check?  You prob would have called so nothing wrong with play, but you could have been more passive after check on flop as it looks a bit dodgy.
