Title: Bluesquare.com London GUKPT: Day 1B - At A Glance
Post by: NoflopsHomer on October 17, 2007, 01:12:33 PM
:hello: Rod and I have managed our mazy journey from Villa del Jendanasnoops.

Play recommences at 1.30pm for the second of the three start days.

Off to see who is playing today.

This is the 'lite, no frills' update.

Welcome back to The Vic for Day Two's GUKPT action.

There are plenty of interesting names to follow today.

Chris Moorman will be looking to build on his blossoming reputation as one of the top online MTT'ers with a strong live performance.

Blonde's own Maria Demetriou is appearing today and will no doubt be trying to emulate the success of her fellow intrepid updater Snoopy yesterday.

James Dempsey has also turned up to play today. "I like my table" he says. He is sharing it, amongst others, with Ken Wong, who put in a credible performance at the Plymouth GUKPT, and Mark Banin aka Prince Charles who is best known for his 2nd place in the World Heads Up Championships in 2004.

As I speak to him, play gets underway and Flushy is involved in the first pot.

Edward Cahill raises to 200 UTG and Flushy calls in the BB.

Flushy checks the 2d 9d 2h flop, and Cahill bets 500. Flushy passes AK face up. "Surprised you didn't go broke there" I remark....... "Rigged" is flushy's response.

Stuart Nash, Surindar Sunar, Willie Tann, Sunny Chattha, Barry Neville, Kevin O'Leary, Carlo Citrone, Neil Channing, Laurence Houghton, Micky Wernick and Karl Mahrenholz are some of the other recognisable faces playing today. I'm off to join the action and see what juicy action is being thrown up.

Barry Neville is one of the day's early casualties and not happy about it either...

"Ah'm sick bou tit. Pleyhed three 'ands.. Ehhces - ran inta set 'a fours. Tens - did 1500 chips and didn't get t'see river and finally i get JQ, it goes limp, limp, limp, I riase(with JQ) cos ah'm not 'avin all these little cards in mah pot....Flop comes 55 J. I bet, ee raises, I think e's at it so I go allin and he calls with 35 off. Wouldya credit it!" (I don't bring up that his raise to get rid of the little cards didn't seem to work - he looks like he's in a punch first, ask questions later mood)

Barry storms off in a huff "Seeya in blackpool"

Flushy is happy with his start, he called a riase with 56, flopped trips and made a little so is up to 1150 at the moment....As I catch up with him, an interesting hand is playing out on his table. with 3-4k or so in the pot Ken Wong pushes allin on the turn of a

two spades board for 6k or so. He is called by Sonny Ridgewell in seat nine who is holding a pair and gutshot with 9c7c. The river blanks though and Ken Wong takes the big pot down with his Aces...

"We're in the twilight zone!" says Flushy.

Flushy has just played Kings 'the worst way ever', "no significant chips went in til the river, when I was behind."

Chilli is fairing not great, down to around 6,600 after turning two pair but finidng her opponent had already flopped a set.

Praz Bansi is crying "Fix!" as he found out he was sitting next to Sunny Chattha

Nick Jenkins and Chris Moorman. Looks like they're both ready for bed. Bless.

Rookieitb has just knocked out the guy to his immediate left,

He min/checkraised the Qc Jd 2h flop from 400 to 800, fired 1,500 on the 8s turn, before checking the 2h river at which point his opponent moved all-in fopr his last 2,200. With so much in the pot, Rooks made the call, his opponent flipping Kh Qd, which was always behind to the Qh Jh that Shaggy Rookie was holding.

Karl Mahrenholz has turned up, complaining about traffic. He made it 200 to play in mid position, called by the button and the small blind.

Flop:

7h 8c Ahrt

SB checks, Karl bets 350, the button makes to 1,350. The small blind moves all-in. Karl passes, and the button passes Aspades 7s face up.

Good/Bad Pass?

Finally, here's the Stuart Nash/Rob Garfield table, in all its' glory.

Some chip counts from players as requested..

Jeff Duval looks like he has had an accident and is down to 4-5k or so...

Ben Vinson looked a little down on his starting stack with 8-9k.

Chris Moorman shrugs when I ask him how he's doing "Pretty much the same" indicating he hasn't got involved yet.

I notice Chris looks a little tired and sleepy...."Were you up all night playing again Chris?" I admonish and he sheepishly nods his head and laughs.

Tom Grundy looks to be on 8k or so...

Dan Owston has made some inroads into his tablemates' stacks already and is on 14k or thereabouts.

Mark Banin has been crippled relatively early on. Raising to 250, he flat called the reraise to 1100 and check raised allin on a J Q rag board.

His trappy play with Aces cost him though as his opponent had flopped a set with QQ, leaving him moping about in danger on 2k or so....

9d 3d 5s flop

Neil Channing checks, Jeremy Longley bets 800, Micky Wernick makes it 2,800 with around 1,500 back. Neil Channing moves all-in, Longley passes and somehow Wernick finds a fold too.

I didn't realise Surinder Sunar was playing, haven't seen him play a hand, but according to his iPod, he's a big fan of Kanye West and Gorillaz. Who'd have thought?

Mark Banin and Flushy

Kayshan Muthy and Cupcake

Rob Garfield takes a pot, betting the whole way of a 9h 7d 6d 4s 2c board and being called down to the river where his opponent mucked to his last bet, showing a missed Kd Td.

Chris Moorman has bitten the dust. He was down to 4k when he was dealt KK, he decided to flat call.

When the flop came Q hi with 2 diamonds and his opponent bet out, chris moved allin only to find his opponent instacalling with QQ, and the king-less floppery and turnery resulted in an early bath for Chris.

"It's KK isn't it, when I got dealt it, I was thinking, oh oh here we go then, that's me out!"

I spoke to Maria, who has picked up a few chips since dropping ot 4k or so..."I'm not getting any cards so I'm trying to do something with the ones I'm being dealt" She proudly shows off her stack which has now risen to the heady heights of 5.8k...

She's in good humour though and has a big smile on her face as always so all is not lost yet.

End of level 2 chip counts to follow shortly...

An 'Ouch' moment over on table 3.

Kevin Daly and Frank Bluemle get it all-in on 8c 6c 5d flop

Daly:

9d 7c

Bluemle:

7d 4d

The half-Wilson succumbs.

Jim Reid has just been crippled by Antony Phillips, with Queens vs Ace King. The Barry Greenstein special, an ace on the river, clinching the pot.

Willie Tann has dropped the ball, like a certain goalkeeper. ::)

Previously, one of the chip leaders, he's now down to just a few bits of change, most of his chips seemingly gone to nextdoor neighbour Martin Bader.

Elsewhere, Micky Wernick is MIA.

Karl Mahrenholz just stubbed his toe, he bets 875 on the Kc 4h Qh, and was flat-called in one spot by Laurence Houghton. Pushing the blank turn 2d with Ahrt Qs he was instantly called by the Kh Ks, and doubled up the short stack.

Yellow perils, Ben Vinson and David Lloyd, the latter just having knocked a short stack out with Aspades Jc vs Td 8d.

Maria Demetriou has told me her stack has vacillated between 3.5k and 6k but keeps homing in on the 4k figure and just as she was at the end of level 2, Maria remains on 4200. She has told me if anyone asks for her stack just to tell them she's on 4k, where she feels destined to stay. Some gee-up words over a hamburger and we've set her off to get a stack though so things could change rapidly...

Apparently Ben Turnstill, aka RookieITB is OUT!

Details of the hand are sketchy, but it appears he ran top 2 into a set. Bad luck Rookie, you run bad...

I watched Flushy going for Oscar nomination after being set allin on a turn of 9c 7d 3h 4s, Flushy said "I don't think I can pass this" and chip fiddling, looking into space, mumbling, counting fingers as if workiing out pot odds and taking a quick time out to order the beef option off the dinner menu before ultimately passing his absolute FILTH with a sigh.

He fooled no one...

Play is just about to restart.

Maria has 4.2k, Flushy is on 12.5k. Meanwhile, man of the hour, Julian Thew has just turned up and straight away was flocked by a few people at the bar, congratulating him and hoping for a little good luck to rub off on them too.

Nick 'Ripple11' Jenkins has lost half his stack running Queens into Kings. He's just been moved to the left on Priyan De Mel who, during the break, was telling the rest of the rest of the Hitsquad, plus myself, Junglecat, Chili and Sharplea whilst we were all in McDonalds, (No buffet :() about the tough work he had flopping sets, straight flushes and the like...

Going passed Flushy's stack, I noticed a slight increase in chips, I inquired what had happened, I got a curt and undetailed response.

"I raised with a gutshot. Hit it on the river."

Javed Abrahams, who cashed in both EPT Barcelona and London (I think) is missing and presumed OUT.

Mark Herron on around 17k

Probable chip leader Martin Bader, roughly 55k, (looks as though I photo-shopped a hat on there but I didn't)

As I wander by his seat flushy is gabbling away and grabs my arm before i can sneak off. "I'm such a donkey!" he says proudly pointing at his much increased stack...

"I know...ok I'll bite, how did it happen?"

"I raised 9T suited on the button, the BB calls. Flop comes 7 3 J, he bets 1100 I raise to 2500 he calls. Turn is a 7 check check. River 8 to give me the straight, he checks and i bet 2550 which he calls. HEHEHEHHEHEHE!"

Meanwhile Ben Vinson was seen putting in a 4.5k bet into roughly a 5k pot on the river of an A25A8 board, which convinced his mateyboy neighbour to lay down and keeping him in the region of 17k-18k...

As I walk back I have a quick chat with Maria as she is moved table to join Neil Channing, Kevin "lovejoy" O'leary and some others...

"You're just hanging around like vultures because you know I'll be knocked out soon aren't you?" Maria admonishes me.

"Not at all, we all want you to treble up" I say as I flap my wings and scour the tables for any players with shortstacks about to implode...

"Good Luck Maria!"....but I remain in the vicinity, just in case...

Hi any chance you can keep me updated on Richie Allen hes my younger brother good little player, has a nice stack about 30k hes on table 8 seat 8 thankyou.

Just heading up so I'll have a look for you...

Meanwhile, Surinder Sunar has trebled up. A three way allin preflop coup with 99 against AK and KK and he plucks the 9 out of the deck to treble up...

Mark Herron has doubled up. Having previously re-raised (and shown 9-3) against an aggressive young player, Herron raised on the turn of an A-7-2-6 board with pocket 7's, only to be set all-in by his opponent's drawing dead A-Q. He's up to 34k.

He also says to Dom, "Thanks Tiltbag."

Chili has doubled through her 'spawny' (her words) Kh Jh spiking against Ahrt Qh. She has about 7.5k now.

At the start of level 6, 92 players remained, the average was 15,900 and the blinds were 150 300 with a 25 ante...

...there have been one or two casualties since though

Maria is OUT. The small blind raised, she pushed with K-J but lost the race against Nines.

Richie Allen, in the chip leading group.

Rob Garfield, has about 9k after pushing on a Kh Qs 2h board getting his opponent to fold.

Antony Yousefian adopting a formerly unseen form of sitting for a comp, I'm christening this one 'the percher'.

Stuart Nash has knocked out a shorty with AA vs JJ, Jack came on the river, but the board was already reading T-x-K-Q.

Carlo Citrone is OUT, A-K vs Danny Sampson's K-K.

Kayshan Muthy has gone too, the less than stellar Q-4 into Aces.

Flushy is out. Guy raises from UTG to 1900(!) on 150 300, Flushy calls with AA. Flop comes T 8 3 with 2 clubs. Guy checks, Flushy bets, he checkraises him allin, Flushy calls.

20k pot and Flushy finds himself up against a flush draw which hits on the turn, leaving him out of outs and out of the comp. "What can you do" sighs Flushy...

Maria is also out I beleive as she has vacated her seat but I couldn't find her to confirm this...

Praz looks very short with 6k or so, Neil Channing is OUT after shoving in EP with a short stack and being looked up by Kevin O'leary's AQ. His J6 didn't hit and out he went at the expense of LOVEJOY.

We are now on a break and will resume in 15 minutes with 200 400 with a 50 ante where things will really kick off...

We're now on the 200/400/50 level. It always seems to be the one where big stacks are suddenly created and many people seem to exit.

Bumped into Ian Cox during the break. With Thewy winning those two big comps in quick succession, perhaps Ian's performances of hitting back to back final tables have been overlooked, combined with the fact he's made 6 finals this year. Certainly, he's in a big purple patch, and I wouldn't be surprised if he goes deep again this week.

Praz looked to have jsut doubled up as he swept in a pot that consisted of lots of little chips but seemed to have around 13k or so in it...

It's 200 400 with a 50 ante right now with 40 minutes or so left in this level...

Ken Wong has succumbed. His AJ with a shortstack was shoved into the middle, but he found an AQ caller and couldn't make his 30%er count so finds himself on the rail.

No Wong jokes from me. That wouldn't be right.

Ed Arees is OUT, no details I'm afraid.

Stuart Nash -- 26,175
John McCrane -- 17,000 (Having just doubled up with KK vs AQ)
Dan Owston -- 28,275

Karl Mahrenholz has doubled through Ben Vinson with A-Q vs A-J on an A-Q-J board.

Stuart (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=420) Nash (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=420) is somehow out. He must have lost two or three big pots in succession because I saw him throw in his last couple of thousand with 9s 7s and run into a pair of Tens.

Rob (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=381) Garfield (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=381) is also out, he's joined Thewy and Chili in the restaurant. The latter of these seems a little tipsy... ::)

;bp; ALERT

On a Ac 7c 2d board, Priyan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=354) De Mel (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=354) check/calls Kevin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=235) O'Leary (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=235)'s 3,100 bet.

The turn is a 3d, now Priyan bets out 4,600 and O'Leary makes it 12,000 with about 13,000 behind. Priyan moves all-in and after about a minute dwell, Kevin calls.

Priyan:

7s 7c

Kevin:

Qc 5c

Both players stand up, Priyan muttering, "No club, no club, no club..."

River:

Qs

Kevin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=235) O'Leary (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=235) is OUT and heads over to the Thew party whilst Priyan spends 5 minutes stacking his chips. He's on 81.3k. Chip daddy I think.

your chip count says m herron on 5500? just saw a pic of him with towers of chips....

....I don't know if this was a typo on the chip list or if he has just spun his stack up quickly but he appears to be on 25k+....I will confirm this shortly as I brave the grisly innards of the cardroom once more

He was on 30k+ 20 minutes ago. Remember these chip counts that BlueSq provide are from roughly 45 minutes ago, and it only takes one hand to make or break someone, so use them as a guideline, but don't take them as gospel. Most of the time people will float with around the stack size given at the break but obviously this can always dramatically change in a split second.

Play has really slowed down again, I'm on the USB modem as an emergency. We just lost Praz Bansi. Surinder Sunar had raised to 2.1k utg, Praz made it 5k from MP and Sunar called. The flop came Td Th 5c, Surinder checked, Praz moved all-in and Surinder called immediately flipping over Tc Ts leaving Praz's Eights drawing dead, shaking hands with his opponent and making his way out.

JC has some photos coming up.

Paul Mendes is OUT, his Aces no good vs Sami Yusuf's Kh Ts on a K-T-7-6-5 board, all the money in on the flop.

Richard Glading just got a reprieve, he pushed with Kc Jc, was called by his nearest neighbour's Ahrt Qc.

When the flop came Aspades Qh 7s, Mr Ace Queen began to fist pump before the big chipped Martin Bader told him, "It's not over yet..."

Almost immediately, the Td came on the turn, and Bader continued, "...You see? You shouldn't celebrate."

That was probably enough, but Bader carried on past the 9c river, leaving the young man, no doubt already feeling sheepish, probably feeling worse than he already had been when he'd seen the turn.

He's still there. Though he just had to pass Ace Queen to a re-raise from his German nextdoor neighbour Peter Gelencser. After some insistent nagging from Cupcake, he managed to get his opponent to show Ks Kd.

Tom Grundy and Ben Vinson are OUT.

Mark Banin is still in Snoops, seems to have around 30k. Next to him, Sunny Chattha, just made a good call with Ahrt Jh after Richard Palser moved all-in over the top of his raise with Tc 9c. The remaining Chattha, is now over 40k after a nondescript board.

Danny Samson is OUT. A-J vs Luke Trotman's A-K.

Willie Tann spotted at the bar. I'm guessing he's gone too.

Nick Jenkins has busted in rather unfortunate circumstances, flopped flush with 7c 6c vs Paul Lawrence's Kc Qc. Both played it sneaky til the river when all the money went in.

The big mover (and shaker) in the last couple of levels has been Surinder Sunar. He's been in most pots, accumulating chips thick and fast since knocking out Praz, even having time to joke when Dan Owston lost a chunk to the gentleman to the left with A-Q vs A-K. As the board came out K-6-A-4-Q, Surinder said, almost regretfully, "I had 7-3...."

Play has finished for the day now. The connection has gone for just about everyone else over the last couple of hours, so no-one has been able to post anything due to 'content control' from Vodafone. Fortunately, the USB modem has saved our bacon.

Here's the last 4 tables just before play ended.

Tomorrow sees more blondes playing, Rick Trigg, Julian Thew and Ian Cox amongst them. Please join us once more at 1.30pm!
