Title: How Good Are You?
Post by: jezza777 on October 22, 2005, 12:38:39 AM
How does everyone judge how good they are? I know that the money is how we keep score but in tournament poker it can be a long time between meals and you can make all the right decisions and still go hungary.
I'm just curious as to peoples views

I'm ok tournament wise, but I'm getting tot hink I might be a better cash player

My tourney results come along just often enough that when I really think I am crap, it sustains me into losing more money for a while!

I'm rubbish to mediocre, with flashes of ok when I really concentrate.

I aspire to be crap, mediocrity is aiming a bit high though.

Or, to be a little more serious, in answer to jezza's question, it sorta depends what criteria you set. I play Poker to enjoy myself - & on that basis, I'm the dogs whatsits, nobody enjoys it more. I am THE DADDY.

Tikay

There is no need to aspire to be crap

I'm a 6.

I used to think I was 9.

Then I decided I was an 8.

After several more months I concluded that I was a 7.

Now I've opted for 6.

I'm not getting worse, but my perceptions of my own game are changing as I learn.

i've not put any money on a poker site since febuary 20th ( dont let me forget my ..ive been with you for ??? years... thing )
and i have money on a good few sites
as long as i dont deposit any money and play every night i think i do good
i dont have a bank roll to go up and play major games but im quite happy to enjoy myself
on the cheaper games for free and have fun

so i think  thats how good i am

SO SO.... It all boils down to my mood, I was just working out of town for a week, I could see the horseshoe casino from my motel, so of course had to go play, I was feeling really good about being there and ended up playing really well, and seemed to be getting great reads on the others, so it was a great time. however my problem is the mood i might be in, I find if im questioning myself about anything before i go, then it's not going to be a good night for me.

I rate myself 7 at my very best.. 4 at my more timid moments

My reply isn't a measure of how good I think I am, it's my family's stock reply to all those questions that people, (especially reporters on TV) ask that have no real answer, ie "How sad were you when your dog died?" "How happy did you feel when you scored the winning goal?"

When we hear one of these questions we all shout  "Seven!!"

I'm good enough to make the occasional re-raise with 10,4off to scare Matey off his chips, though I'm not good enough to have realised that Matey had been raising with aces all along.

I'm the same Snoops. Who came up with that Bruce Lee philosophy on poker last week? Was it Adam M?

If you read this mate can you repost please? I thought it was very relevant.

Cheers.

Been a bit busy lately.
