Title: when to push
Post by: Ironside on October 27, 2007, 02:11:33 AM
you've just lost a major pot leaving you with 1.5 bbs you know your getting called when you push by BB atleast

you are now 2nd utg and wake up with 22 UTG folds

so you push now or wait for the next hand where 2 random cards arent going to be in much worse shape than 22 is

The only time to fold here is if you were on a paybubble in a large field and you might sneak into a payoff by lasting for two hands or whatever.

Push without looking, the same thing happened to me last week and i just put it in before the cards were dealt,3 callers and a flop of K,4,7 rainbow 1st persons pushes and other 2 fold and he flicks over KQ i say nice hand and then flick over pocket 44's
I went out 12th of course but thats poker!

1.5 BB and a pocket pair = definite push unless you're happy to just ladder up, but given you're in BB in 2 hands anyway it's almost certainly a push even if laddering up is your main objective as you're not getting any further without winning some more chips soon anyway. Plus I quite like the ducks anyway so it's good to go in my view.

Push every time foe me here unless as pointed out its a big tourney and you can dwell up and take some time see if you can ladder up waiting on someone else to go before you.

Oh, and if its a headhunter, get 10 callers, flop a set, and take the chip lead!!

limping in here would be better then pushing, not by much, but theres 2 or 3 reasons that makes a limp more attractive... for fun, I'll let others figure out why

James Edwards (ThinkerJE) did exactly that yesterday in the APAT event after he lost a huge chunk of his stack and was down to 2,500 with the blinds at 500-1,000.

Him to act, and he bets 2,000 - keeping 500 back.  Made a few of us at the table smile.

for value? you may get a few callers then someone pushes, giving you protection and the oppotunity to take a 50/50  with huge overlay or even have odds to take on an overpair?
