him;good day mr ironside
me; morning (well it is 3 pm)
him; i am rashid from ****** phone serives can i ask do you have a mobile phone?
me; is the pope a catholic?
him; pardon?
me; is the pope a catholic?
him; sorry! can i ask do you have a mobile phone?
me; of course i do doesnt everyone in the uk over the age of 12?
him; oh good can i ask if it's a pay as you go or contract?
me; contract
him; and can i ask how much you pay?
me; 18 a month (i lied)
him; and do you get free minutes with that
me; yes
him; how many?
me; 115,000 ( i lied)
him; how many
me; 115,000
him; oh good i would like to offer you a better service
me; great (under 18 and 115,000 minutes here we go)
him; for 25 a month you get 500 minutes cross nextwork any time minutes (sounds like a standard 3 service)
me; excuse me how is this better than my current contract?
him; because you get 500 minutes free cross network and any time!
me; but i am already getting 115,000 minutes so i pay 7 more and get 114,500 less minutes ok sounds good to me
him; so your intrested
me; you bet your bottom dollar i am
him; what?
me; what will i do with my current contact its still has 9 months to run
him; this contract i am offering you is better
me; but if i am tied to this contract for another 9 months
him; you can give your phone to someone else
me; but surely i cant as it me that has to pay the bills
him;can you cancell you old phone
me;nope not without paying off 9 months of the contract at 18 a month
him;but you will save money on this new contract
me; no i wont i will lose 7 a month and 114,500 minutes talk time
him; what

another 30 minutes of this went on before i said

HAVE A NICE DAY  and hung up
as i a BUUUUUUTTTTTTTTTTTT came screaming down the phone

this is the 15th call i have answered from same company in last 5 weeks each call is getting longer and longer as i know there speach off by heart and wind them up even more

the fact the company involved has obviously farmed its call centre off shore where the operators are not 1st language english speakers and dont understand your wind ups makes me feel better

now if everyone who got these cold calls sales kept the reps on the phone for 30 mins + with no sale then you would think the companys might get the message.

btw its not hard to use speakerphone and play poker at the same time

There's a generic counterscript you can use to wind any of them up if you like:

http://www.xs4all.nl/~egbg/counterscript.html

I just hangup myself.

The volume of calls can be reduced by signing up to the telephone preference service (basically you're opting out of telesales calls) for free.

http://www.tpsonline.org.uk/tps/

I signed up and it's rare to get a call like this now.

I've gone with the preferance service (highly recommended) but before that I used to tell them it was not a convenient time to talk and have a bit of fun trying to get them to give you their home numbers so you could call them back later.

i had an asian calling himself brian, made me piss my pants

a good one is to wind up your mates by giving these people your mates numbers, as intersred parties.
