Title: Anette Obrestad
Post by: steeveg on November 03, 2007, 10:30:01 AM
i watched Annette Obrestad being interviewed after winning the wsop event in london a few weeks ago,
she was saying the 1 quality she has over a lot of other pros is betting the right ammount the situation calls for  i was thinking betting enough so another player cant re raise part of his stack only move all in, or betting less so he can re riase giving you the option of moving all in,betting just enough you can still get away from your hand, blockers, i know we all do this in a tournament so what she doing better than most of the other players when it comes to betting as she must be doing a lot more ,

It will be interesting to see her play on the telly and hope this gives some clues. She must be doing something to have achieved her recent successes.

There were cameras at the WSOPE, so you should be able to watch her performance on that occasion. However, I'm not sure what channel it will be on or when it will be broadcast.

thanks i will be watching when it  comes on tv, i imagine its going to be on sky challange, someone was saying she really goes after tight players on the internet ,so should be interesting how she plays live,

She goes after LAG players too.  Re-raising a LAG's raise puts the pressure back on them - if they've got rubbish they won't want to call, and it's going to take balls to re-re-raise with air.

thanks,  be interesting to see what she been re raisng with and what position she is doing it from,,i wonder if a lot of decent players suss out her game, i noticed dario minieri had the same problem this year in wsop, raising and moving all in on semi bluffs all the time, getting called more than the average player,  his downfall this year i reckon

The difference is that Dario's game is much more about preflop play, which he's probably amongst the very best, his postflop game isn't as good. Annette is much more focused on postflop play.

I find it amazing that players like her and Chad Batista ( sp? ) are able to consistently win at some of the hardest tournaments online .  Moorman1 as well .   It must be a great skill to have.

i couldnt agree more sark, i dont know if she has got lucky but if she has ,she did it playing online now shes doing it live against the best players in the world, as i say she seems to think a lot of good players are not too good at the sizes of bets they make ,which is very important part of the game, may learn a lot more when shes on the telly

I have a mate who always says she is just lucky.  It is impossible to be that lucky,  it is skill pure and simple.  She/and others like her are doing something in a different way to everyone else and it brings her success every week.

It's highly unlikely, but it's not impossible to be that lucky.

True,  I guess time will tell .

When my Gran was alive She had unbelievable luck at Bingo,  she could have turned pro.  Every week she made a fair bit of cash from playing

I guess with all the people playing poker these days, someone has to be luckier than everyone else. Not sure if it's her though.

It does seem to be the same names again and again though who win.  There has to be something to that?    If it is luck, she has had a very long run of lucky cards

No doubt Annette is a top player but she is having a hot run at mo which seems to happen alot, alot of people seem to get good results in waves . She plays so many tournys online ( thousands ) that it is obvious that she's going to have good runs.
I thinks she has probably took her aggressive online game into the Live scene and took a few people by surprise but I have a feeling this style will be found out quickly.
I am sure she will be a permanent fixture in the big live tournys now so will get a lot of exposure and will have future success, but lets not go over the top about her. ( Just yet anyway)
