I really enjoy long walks in the woods in the autumn. Went there early yesterday morning - hardly a soul about and the sun was out highlighting all the beautiful colours on the trees. Hard to believe you're within the M25 on a day like that. Title: Re: PICTURES OF YOUR BACKYARD Post by: sofa----king on November 04, 2007, 05:06:11 PM here is mine. Title: Re: PICTURES OF YOUR BACKYARD Post by: charmaine on November 04, 2007, 06:54:41 PM Our back garden is pretty small :( it's full of childrens toys ie, swings , slides , trampoline etc .
It's just how a garden of a family with small kids should look :) When they're all grown the garden will probably look the same but with grandkids toys ;D Title: Re: PICTURES OF YOUR BACKYARD Post by: UpTheMariners on November 04, 2007, 07:17:28 PM Pah, those are terrible. I think the big can, is a vegetable oil drum, the sort they use in restaurants, but may be wrong. Standard northern 'fry-up' daily requirement. Title: Re: PICTURES OF YOUR BACKYARD Post by: Colchester Kev on November 04, 2007, 10:01:11 PM Next prop bet ... get chiprich in one of those bins for 8 hours :)

(http://www2.hillingdon.gov.uk/images/tourism_medium/057.jpg) Ruislip Lido! When I was a small boy, I ran away from home once, & for some reason, ended up spending 3 days at Ruislip Lido. I helped the man who ran the miniature train they used to have there, huge fun, & I slept in the Lido public toilets for 2 nights in a row. On morning three, which was a Monday, I was very hungry, so decided to walk into Ruislip to try & get some food. I had no money, but Woolworths used to sell biscuits "loose", they were in open-topped glass compartments in a self-serve counter, & I'd nicked some on the Saturday, & thought I'd repeat the trick. So off I went. I got stopped by a policeman in Ruislip High Street, asaking what I was up to, as I had started behaving suspiciously when I saw him. I'd clocked him, knew this looked dodgy, so I continued to walk towards him, but I started walking backwards, so that he could not see my face......I kid you not, I was not the sharpest pin in the box in those days. So he stops me, "where are you off to?". "Woolworths" I reply. "At 5am?" says he. "Err, is it that early?, I wanted to be there as soon as it opened" I replied. "It does not open today Sonny - it's Bank Holiday Monday" says Nice Policeman......"Oh yes, I know that, but I'm walking my dog as well". "What dog?" says he. "I've let him off the lead" I say. "What lead?", says he........"Err, I left the lead at home". "And the dog, I fancy" says he, & that was me rumbled, & taken to Ruislip Police Station. Dad was contacted - by telegram ffs! - to say I'd been found, & he came down to collect me & take me home on the crossbar of his bike. Meanwhile, the Policeman gave me his lunch box - everyone used a red "OXO" Tin for sarnies in those days, & I wolfed the lot - they were Heinz Sandwich Spread, which I've adored ever since. I've never forgotten the kindness of that policeman, I'd not eaten in 48 hours & I was soooo hungry, those sarnies were the best meal I've ever had in my life. I coild also tell you a story about the two Ruislip Stations on the Central Line - West Ruislup, & Ruislip Gardens........ Title: Re: PICTURES OF YOUR BACKYARD Post by: Claw75 on November 05, 2007, 12:50:48 PM the miniature railway at the lido is still alive and well Tony :)

Title: Re: PICTURES OF YOUR BACKYARD Post by: tikay on November 05, 2007, 04:46:07 PM Has South Ruislip Station been bombed then....... Just checking you were paying attention...... But only 3 stations in Ruislip, Acton has 7. Beat that. Title: Re: PICTURES OF YOUR BACKYARD Post by: kinboshi on November 05, 2007, 04:52:53 PM Does everyone's backyard extend to a tranquil scene within 1hr's drive from my house? :P Nope. The scene I posted is within walking distance from my house. Title: Re: PICTURES OF YOUR BACKYARD Post by: kinboshi on November 05, 2007, 04:53:58 PM Has South Ruislip Station been bombed then....... Beat that. shame on you Tikay - and I thought you were the font of all train knowledge :) I think you've forgotten Ruislip and Ruislip Manor stations (on the met/picadlilly line), with West Ruislip and South Ruislip also having mainline stations. That puts it equal with Acton in my book :) Title: Re: PICTURES OF YOUR BACKYARD Post by: jizzemm on November 05, 2007, 08:49:54 PM Thats my back garden -- never go further than the poker table tho Now that is sweet !!!
