OK, here's a selection of pics from the £300 Freezeout at Walsall on Saturday night.

Let's start with a Family Affair. Nearest is our Chili-Pepper. Behind her, facing camera, is her Uncle, the great Peter "The Poet" Costa. Peter is one of the biggest names on the International poker scene, & prpobably won over a million quid in about 2000/1, winning hiuge events in Aussie - The Aussie Millions, Vegas, a 2,000 runner Limit Event, & at The Vic, in London. A frequent player on Late Night Poker, he made one of THE most incredible performances one night when he took apart a Vietnamese guy, as if he could see the poor guys cards. Last night he correctly identified 3 hands in a row held by opponents PRE-FLOP! He correctly nominated  a guy as having "two black queens" - correct! - another with KJ, &, most remarkably of all, I R'd it up & he put me on 3-4 - EXACTLY my hand.

Next to the dealer are two blondeites - seat 1, "hotdog", & seat 2, "Real Shady", Mr Ash Pervaiz.

Talking of which, here is Red in his rather camp lumberjack shirt, sat to his right is the portly MPower, he got home from Walsall to Notts in a sprightly 35 minutes.  Something to do with a 45k pot going the wrong way, when MPower held  Qc Qd only to see  Matey Boys Ad Ks hit twice.

Another happy face, Thee from Thine scooping another huige pot. With average stack at 10k, he had 65k! 20 minutes later, he was down to 30k - "I've had no luck at all".

Won £67k at Notts this year, top of league? Last time I looked, Ali "Bag of Bo**ocks" was top of the league. If he's won £67k at Notts his year, then it would have been in his pocket about 3 minutes, courtesy of the roulette wheel....,

Is the white one deaf? Strangely, no, though most odd-eyed cats are. Buy as it happens, Charlie, the old girl, IS deaf. She only learned to "speak" (howl) about 9 months ago (she's about 15) & now she howls like a good 'un, as listerners to my live phone-in to Poker 425 will testify - she's ruined two phone-ins so far, & gets more attention from the viewers than me.

I adore them both, I guess they are substitute kids in a way. Yeah, I know, I'm seriously sad.

Yup, it's Bob, who did indeed catch a dealer palming an  Ad off the bottom of the pack to his buddy, said buddy claiming he knew nothing of it. Said dealer got banned, & I have never spoken to "know nothing" from that day to this. Can't be doing with cheats.

spoony. The "incident" & the alleged £67k are not connected. "Won" £67k is easy to say. Made a profit of £67k is a different matter. Nice enouigh guy, but as I say, tends to exaggarate a tad. If he's won £67k at Notts Gala this year, in Poker Tourneys, I'll let Colchester Kev have his wicked way with me.

Speedman - no idea, I never heard the comment. Same guy once told me he'd won 6 comps in a row at Notts, & I laughed. He said "well, I won or split 6 in a row". I said "but I was in Thursday's Final, you busted out early". "Oh yeah, not including Thursday".... It's natural, & not that unreasonable, for blokes to big themselves up a little. It's a man thing. He's an OK guy, notwithastanding his occasional fishermans tales.

Red, well it's truce time, but blonde did offer to sponsor it, cash prizes & a trophy. We were turned down because we could not produce, wait for it, .....a Health & Safety Policy!

I hasten to add, Local Management were fine with it, they just said "you'll have to speak to Head Office". We did, & that's what we were told.

Same Head Office refused us permission to bring Poker 425 down to Gala Notts, on the grounds that "the Gaming Board will not allow it, we need you to produce a letter from them". We've applied to take Poker 425 to 26 venues, were accepted in 25 of them with open arms, after all, it's good - & FREE - publicity for them. But I stesss these were HEAD OFFICE decisions, not "local" Management.

It would be a great advert for their cardroom.

They're mad not to go out of there way to try and get the poker 425 crew into the Gala.

It shouldn't be the other way around.

Big Bob - Bob Day.(previous owner of no less that 47 pubs) is 2nd in the notts league behind Ash Abdullah with Ali 'bag of bollocks' Ahmed in 3rd.
I would say that Bob may well have prize tickets to the value of 67k but they are probably over more than a year and he tends to rebuy for britain - so his profit will be something around £7.25. - A nice fella but couldnt pass an empty shop window if it was offering even money on a flush draw.

I am actually astounded that nothing has been decided for this league yet.
I have painstakingly created and updated this league for the whole year so far and still nothing has been decided on for a prize at the end of it. It beggars belief really.
How hard is it for someone to decide on something???
If it ends with nothing then, sadly, there will be no league next year


As for £67K... Nobody has won anywhere near that much from poker competitions this year, the most won is not even half that amount!
I cannot publish details of who how much and why though

all i can add is that the least amount won this year was £30 8)

That's the reason Poker425 weren't allowed in Gala??? Why am I not surprised!! I remember all the talk of the possibility of it happening and then nothing.... ah well. Like you say, their loss!! But we all want you in there, you know that!!!
