Title: Tournaments. Post by: taximan007 on November 05, 2007, 04:04:45 PM I'd like to raise Two points and would be interested in others opinions.
1: Is it not time there were a "standard" set of rules for tournaments around the world? It is my belief there is a Tournament Directors Association, and I would have thought this would be one of their aims. There was the situation in Dublin this week where a player flipped his cards without realising there was still one player in the hand. His hand was deemed "live" and play continued. I know in some places his hand would be declared "dead" and in others his hand would be live and he would receive either a warning or penalty (i'm not sure if that happened in Dublin). This is just one issue I feel needs clarification so everybody knows whats what. 2. Now that smoking is banned at all tournaments, (a good thing IMO and I smoke 60 a day), and mobiles are also banned at the table. Is it not time Ipods and suchlike were banned also? I believe in most tournaments if you make the FT they are not allowed so why not ban them completely? Just a pet hate of mine. Thank You Title: Re: Tournaments. Post by: GlasgowBandit on November 05, 2007, 04:20:11 PM Point one I certainly agree with its definitely about time that rules where standardised there is so much ambiguity also another gripe of mine is when it comes to TD's some folk just don't know what they are doing, there should be some sort of qualification devised so that all TD's are at least trainedd to a decent standard, there is nothing worse when you turn up at your local casino and the regular TD ain't there so instead one of the dealers takes over the card room and doesn't have a clue what they are supposed to be doing.
With regards to point 2 thats just nonsense IMO. There is no reason, to ban iPods if you go down that route then next we'd have people campaigning for the ban of shades, caps and hoodies. The smoking ban was government legistlation based on health reasons. Certainly a good thing IMO but listening to an iPod doesn't effect anyone else at the table - if say an iPod is too loud then ask the offender to turn it down. Title: Re: Tournaments. Post by: Acidmouse on November 05, 2007, 04:23:23 PM I normally had my headphones in listening on low so I can still hear whats happening at the table. If people needed to be prompted to act then its naughty. Else ipods! or in my case phones are fine to listen to.

Title: Re: Tournaments. Post by: AdamG on November 05, 2007, 05:42:17 PM also hate it when ppl claim their cards out loud when not in pot and have folded already - giving an unfair advantage sometimes.
