Title: battrick pops...
Post by: amcgrath1uk on November 12, 2007, 01:15:32 PM
Thought rather than starting a new thread each week for the pops we get.. we may as well have just the 1

17yo trainee bowler up to abysmal fielding ( med stamina prof bowling med consistency)
17yo trainee batter up to comp concentration ( med stamina comp batting)

Dead exciting, my first ever pops this week.

Trainee all rounder had two, up to competent batting and abysmal (no sniggering at the back there!) fitness!

2 conc pops, 1 fielding pop, 1 bowling pop (to strong) and a 3rd player of 20k BTR.

Not a bad week!

Title: Re: battrick pops...

solitary fielding pop :(

Title: Re: battrick pops...

Lonely fitness pop :(:(

Title: Re: battrick pops...

Three pops for me this week one of which was a straightforward stamina one.

However the other two were both consistency pops, one for a guy netting in batting and fielding and the other in batting and keeping!   :dontask:    How does that work?

Title: Re: battrick pops...
Post by: amcgrath1uk on November 21, 2007, 12:57:03 AM
batting + fielding is exactly the same for consistency and concentration as batting+wicketkeeping, both train the secondaries :)

Title: Re: battrick pops...
Post by: KeithyB on November 21, 2007, 01:12:02 AM
Oh ok, thanks for that, I just assumed that a batting net would only ever help concentration ( and batting too...hopefully..lol )

Title: Re: battrick pops...
Post by: amcgrath1uk on November 21, 2007, 01:17:37 AM
occasionally helps ;)

Title: Re: battrick pops...
Post by: Ironside on November 21, 2007, 11:15:59 AM
batting trains concentration but fielding and wicket keeping train both as both are needed to keep wicket or field

Title: Re: battrick pops...
Post by: matt674 on November 26, 2007, 10:40:24 AM
Three pops for me today all for my "trainee" all rounder - truth is he's by far best player in squad now so trainee tag kind of doesnt apply any more. Stamina to Respectable, Batting to Strong and Bowling to Competent

Plays For: Matts Monkeys
Nationality: England
Age: 18 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 17,140 (+1416)
Wages: £1,242 p/w

Stamina: respectable Wicket Keeping: feeble
Batting: strong Concentration: respectable
Bowling: competent Consistency: respectable
Fielding: woeful

These are his stats now but i know that next week he'll pop in both Concentration and Consistency to Proficient (maybe WK too but that immaterial). Question is how much extra do you think i'll get on transfer market with the extra two pops, is it worth keeping him on nets for another week or selling him now?

Also what would people think the going rate for a player like this would be on the market?

Title: Re: battrick pops...
Post by: amcgrath1uk on November 26, 2007, 11:06:49 AM
I'd expect at the very minimum 2m being hopeful of double that.

Worth the wait... probably.. people still get drawn by the BTR ratings.. getting him to 20kBTR would more than likely mean much more money

I had no pops today. some pleasing and some annoying form changes too

My 18wk/batter ( due to pop to strong batting and superb w/k ) jumped 1500BTR to over 16k, and my 17yo all rounder ( up for sale at a ridiculous 4m) jumped just 61BTR despite being heavily netted

Title: Re: battrick pops...
Post by: Bongo on November 26, 2007, 11:11:08 AM
It's always worth hanging on for a pop if they will happen in the next week, and people will pay more for higher secondaries.

I had 2 pops this week, stamina to proficient on one of my trainee bowlers, and bowling to respectable on someone who will be sold as soon as his contract expires.

He's only got real value as a bastmen at the moment, so 2mill, maybe a little more. Until the primary hits respectable you are talking only a hundred grand on top for the bowling value.

Popping batting to superb/superb and bowling to respectable/strong and I reckon maybe closing on 4mill with a bit of inflation but Bongo is prob the guy to ask.

Nice batting pop on Tzaneen today (now strong/prof) and this year's 17yr old trainee is now respectable bowling, so wlll make prof by end of the season, which is nice.

Title: Re: battrick pops...
Post by: Bongo on November 26, 2007, 01:56:49 PM
Respectable bowling isn't likely to have too much value to someone who can afford to be splashing out 4mill though - although admittedly the high secondaries are nice.

If I was to get a player like that I imagine he'd be used as batter who bowled a few overs in FC games, and maybe in the easier OD games (fitness permitting!)

I'd also think it depends on your cash, what you'd do with the freed up nets and when he'd pop again..

I also think you'd get a bit more than 2 million for and 18yo strong with decent stamina and secondaries...

Title: Re: battrick pops...
Post by: KeithyB on November 26, 2007, 06:36:42 PM
Moving the discussion back down to basement level...    ;D

Two pops today with my first choice keeper moving up to "strong" keeping and a consistency up to "competent" for a young bowler.

2 fielding pops, 1 bat pop, 1 bowl pop - big week for me, now ive got two 17 y.o's on proficient primaries...

regarding that 18 y.o. strong bowler mentioned above, i'd definitely wait for the secondaries to pop. If you're after money quickly, sell after the pops for > 2m, probably 2.5 - 3, but it's probably worth putting a post on the battrick valuation forum, as some of those guys are clued up - it'll also advertise the guy, so he may get more interest.

if you're not after money quick, there are two options - aim high with the selling price - perhaps 3 - 3.5m and hope some muppet bids... you can always lower the price if no-one does. Alternatively, carry on training him in batting+bowling until late 19's when he should be at quality/strong batting/bowling.

Title: Re: battrick pops...

2 pops today

A fielding pop to abysmal on a bowler, a useless cons pop to woeful on a batter!

Expecting a few next week!

Title: Re: battrick pops...
Post by: matt674 on December 03, 2007, 10:46:37 AM
wicket keeping to moderate and consistency to proficent on all rounder. Had hoped for concentration as well but i've put him on market at 4m just to see if anyone is interested then i can free up his nets. Otherwise he'll stay on and pop to proficient in concentration next week. At least i can now start using stamina and bowling nets for other players :)

batting and conc!

Stamina to prof on one of my trainee bowlers and bowling to resp on a dude I'm going to sell.

I think batman must be broken as it's telling my one of my guys is 50% past a cons pop!

My destructive F still can't gain any bowling form though, if it carries on any longer I'll be making a bug report that he isn't called Harmison.

Title: Re: battrick pops...

I think batman must be broken as it's telling my one of my guys is 50% past a cons pop!

My batman is the same - its ok when a player pops in something for the first time but then to pop in the same catagory for a second time the % is always around 120+% before he pops the following week - i'm guessing that for the third pop in a same catagory it would go up again (though i will probably sell trainee before then).

No pops for me this week but wasnt expecting any after taking trainee all rounder off his vigerous nets routine

Title: Re: battrick pops...

Good day for me...

My 18 yo wk/batter popped to strong batting and superb keeping :)
My 2nd best 17yo popped to comp bowling :)

Due a 17yo to pop to strong bowling any day, and for the rest of the season will be specifically targeting certain players, so the minimum everyone is is comp/comp

18yo would be quite a bit less, year older, less stamina and less conc. I'd still list him for £3mill though.

last dude is looking nice too!

Destructive Fast Bowler continues his rise in form and has now reached competent!

If yes can it decline if you stop giving nets?

Title: Re: battrick pops...

only after the age of 27 i think could be 30

Title: Re: battrick pops...
Post by: Bongo on December 25, 2007, 03:07:02 AM
Superb is the top level you can see, but a further 6 weeks of nets will still see gains (you can occasionally find players on the market with quality stamina... the only place you can see that).

Players will start to decline in stamina from 32/33 years old, otherwise it won't decline.

Title: Re: battrick pops...

my spinner popped today to pro bowling and a fielding pop for my RFM

Title: Re: battrick pops...

I've just managed to pick up my third buy on the transfer market following the £3.25mil sale of Killen - paid £300k for..........

Plays For: Matts Monkeys
Nationality: New Zealand
Age: 20 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 7,641 (+12)
Wages: £1,147 p/w

Stamina: mediocre      Wicket Keeping: feeble
Batting: respectable    Concentration: woeful
Bowling: mediocre      Consistency: respectable
Fielding: worthless

Ok, so fielding is worthless but to be honest in todays over inflated transfer market i figure that if one of my 11 players cant field then ho hum. Its coming up to the end of the season and i dont really have any important games to play so i'm free to put him in nets til the beginning of next season. while 20-21 years old it'll only take 4-4&1/2 weeks to improve the secondary skills while putting in fielding and WK net at same time so in 12 weeks or so i will have his concentration upto competent and by then his batting should be up to proficient. At the same time his bowling will be competent with strong or even suberb consistency. 12 weeks on stamina net also and that will be up to respectable.

I think i've picked up a bargain given the prices of others on the market :)

right i'm going to go pay attention in the sunday million now i've survived the first hour donk-a-thon instead of trawling the battrick transfer market! :D

I picked this guy up on transfer market 2 weeks ago and already bowling pop to competent and concentration pop to feeble. Hopefully i'll have his stamina to competent and consistency to proficient before the start of next season with it not being too long into start of season to get his concentration to mediocre. Not sure when he'll pop in batting to proficient but again hopefully not long into the start of the season.

The plan was to keep him in the nets for 12 weeks but will see if i need to rest him and start playing him in games at the start of the season once we kick off :)

Title: Re: battrick pops...
Post by: matt674 on December 31, 2007, 11:04:42 AM
just realized his rating has gone up by over 2300 points in the same two weeks also - not bad considering he hasnt touched bat or ball in a competitive game :D

Title: Re: battrick pops...

My new project

   Tristan Wilks - 19 yo, BT Rating=6,239
LH Batsman, LF Bowler, abysmal batting form, worthless bowling form, lively
A destructive player with proficient leadership skills and abysmal experience.
Stamina:    respectable    Wicket Keeping:    worthless
Batting:    proficient    Concentration:    feeble
Bowling:    competent    Consistency:    abysmal
Fielding:    abysmal

in 2 weeks he's had a batting, conc and fielding pop. Got the feeling he could be a damn good all rounder by the end of next season.

he was the only one to pop today with his conc pop

My wk/batter should be a 20k rated player next week

Title: Re: battrick pops...

Bowling to strong on my all rounder, batting to quality on a batsman and batting and concentration pops on a dude I will shortly be selling...

Just a stamina pop from one of my more underrated players.  Always been more of a backup but couple more pops in right places and he could be one of my best!  ( ok...I know my squad's not the best around!  :D )

Matt Brill (1599056)

LH Batsman, LM Bowler, superb batting form, superb bowling form, sublime
A  cautious player with worthless leadership skills and worthless experience.

Plays For: Athletico Foxy
Nationality: England
Age: 20 Years Old
Battrick Rating: 5,083 (+199)
Wages: £398 p/w

Stamina: mediocre   Wicket Keeping: worthless
Batting: feeble Concentration: competent
Bowling: mediocre Consistency: feeble
Fielding: feeble

Title: Re: battrick pops...
Post by: KeithyB on January 04, 2008, 01:53:28 AM
In my defence lol, all rest in training are 17 except for wk but I've left Brill in there as otherwise I will have to field five bowlers all with worthless batting all the time.

The more experienced I get in this game the more I believe that I must have inherited one of the worse squads possible when I joined though!
