Title: one for the techies
Post by: Claw75 on November 12, 2007, 08:19:25 PM
having trouble getting a few websites to download properly tonight - getting some graphics etc appearing and 'done' at the bottom, but lots of info missing.  Any ideas?

lol no.  My computer is completely doing my head in to be honest.  It had been freezing and crashing a lot, not recognising DVD drive etc.  Eventually got it taken off for repair after I moved and I was offline.  It came back saying it had been 'repaired', but not details of what was wrong or what had been done to fix it.  Few days later I got my new broadband (Sky) set up, and started happily surfing away again.  Happily for a few days that is, until all the old problems come back, freezing, crashing, can't see the DVD drive.  I've now got the added problem of not being able to see half the info on websites.  Can't access my email remotely (just get a blank page), can't use google, can't see any info on poker stars etc.  Can't configure outlook express to pick up my email either because every time I open it up it encounters and error and has to close. I'm not really sure how much of this is due to the laptop, or if any of the problems are with sky.

My laptop is still under a year old.  I think the time has come to insist on a replacement.

just spent another 45 mins of my life on the phone to tech support.  They seem to think now it's a virus.  Wouldn't be surprised if that's what's caused the latest probs with viewing websites etc, but hope it doesn't take away from the fact that there were pre-existing probs that they have so far failed to rectify.  It's going off again for repair next week, and only after that can i request a replacement.

Just found out today that my bank card has apparently been cloned too, so don't know if some hacker has been at work.  And my mobile's playing me up.  And BT are trying to sting me for a £70 cancellation fee for trying to change from option 2 to option 1.  And my car broke down the other week.  And my oven doesn't work. OK - I think that's all my moans.  Oh for the days before all the bloody modern technology started ganging up on me :)  And relax.
