Title: scotlands heartbreak Post by: ACE2M on November 14, 2007, 12:54:53 PM how are our scottish brothers feeling in the warm up to the biggest match in years?
Title: Re: scotlands heartbreak Post by: thetank on November 14, 2007, 01:03:12 PM I'm feeling rather good today ;)
Title: Re: scotlands heartbreak Post by: Rod Paradise on November 14, 2007, 01:50:45 PM Fairly calm, although I'll not be that calm come Saturday.
How are you feeling about qualification being out of your control and having to rely on other teams? Amazing considering they were 4th seeds for this qualifing group. Hats off to Walter Smith and Alex McLeish what an amazing job they have done. Hope that they go into this one knowing that no matter what, we are proud of them. Hopefully this will allow them to play with less pressure and take down the win..one time!! Hats off to Walter Smith and Alex McLeish what an amazing job they have done. Thats largely to do with changes the way they calculate the seedings, used to be largely based on previous qualification campaigns and for World Cup it will be based on FIFA rankings. But excellent effort nonetheless. PS when does the proper football start again?? Of course we don't suffer from the delusion that we deserve to win all the time :D Personally I'll be surprised if we manage a draw - and think we'll be hoping the Ukraine can do us a favour, but it's still there for us to attack. I guess you'll all be Israel supporters this weekend? Title: Re: scotlands heartbreak Post by: GlasgowBandit on November 14, 2007, 05:30:18 PM I am trying not to get caught up in the euphoria as I have stated on previous threads I don't care much for international football, but I'd be delighted is Scotland made it through, I can't see it tbh the Tally's are good at getting what they need, they can come here knowing a draw is enough, although that may give Scotland the impetus to attack.
I predict a 2 - 1 victory for Italy though and I hope France get gubbed in the Ukraine. Title: Re: scotlands heartbreak Post by: ACE2M on November 14, 2007, 06:11:09 PM i'm only winding you up btw lads, i really hope you win as watching the italians win anything is truly sickening.
Title: Re: scotlands heartbreak Post by: bolt pp on November 14, 2007, 07:14:16 PM lol, what chance have scotland got of qualifying....none!! i'd rather be in our position than scotlands, israel to get a result or scotland!
I may be a bit bias though, i'd rather be a luxemurg supporter than a scattish one Title: Re: scotlands heartbreak Post by: Ironside on November 14, 2007, 09:17:49 PM hey who cares if we dont make it we get to kick 10 lumps out of the english on the park at wembley as part of the one off home nations
i can just see them over paid premadonnas of the premiership getting carried off the pitch now when the scots start swinging the boot and missing Title: Re: scotlands heartbreak Post by: Robert HM on November 14, 2007, 10:03:15 PM Bring back Bertie
Title: Re: scotlands heartbreak Post by: Indestructable on November 14, 2007, 11:03:54 PM In a way I hope that England and Italy do not qualify. Then the money men will point out that to have a major tournament without two of the biggest footballing nations is commercial madness. My rule for Monsieur Platini is that World cup winners should not have to qualify.
Anyway, good luck to Scotland I hope that they finish the job off. :)up Title: Re: scotlands heartbreak Post by: Josedinho on November 15, 2007, 12:48:27 AM hey who cares if we dont make it we get to kick 10 lumps out of the english on the park at wembley as part of the one off home nations i can just see them over paid premadonnas of the premiership getting carried off the pitch now when the scots start swinging the boot and missing I'd concentrate on qualifying then (as i hope you do) because if you don't theres no chance we're hanging about here to play you lot! The FA wouldn't want us to lose to you (which is fairly likely) plus the other 2 teams are tosh, oh and not to mention we still have wembley to pay for....Tour of Asia here we come! Title: Re: scotlands heartbreak Post by: Horneris on November 15, 2007, 06:38:19 PM I hope Scotland Qualify.
I think that they will draw, but so will France!!! Title: Re: scotlands heartbreak Post by: thetank on November 16, 2007, 02:43:13 AM Not bothered if we qualify or not at this point, the boys have done so good, confounded expectations, catapulted up in the world rankings etc. Anything more is a bonus.
Title: Re: scotlands heartbreak Post by: happybhoy on November 16, 2007, 07:41:23 AM Heard a good quote that pretty much sums it up - 'I can handle the despair, it's the optimism I cannae cope with'

I know what you mean but that's loser talk. We are a nation plagued by this sort of attitude. I expect us to win and I'll be disapointed if we don't. None of this "Glorious losers" sh!te Come 5'oclock tommorow it'll be cold, dark and pishing down and there will be 50,000 Scots inside Hampden who've been drinking since mid-day to paraphrase our neigbours from the south... Geo lol yeah..if anyone knows anything about going into something as an under dog and luck boxing his way out to the top, it's Geo. Geo IS the Scottish mentality ;) (and a gent on top of it). I hope they succeed and even believe they can do it..I sure as hell wouldn't have said that at the start of the campaign.
