Title: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on November 16, 2007, 03:47:52 AM Writing a prologue for a Day 1B is always really tough, since essentially all we can say is, "Here we going again..." so trying to come up with something new and inventive but not repetitious is a real challenge. A challenge I'm trying to get around by simply referring to it as a challenge...
Day 2 is easier, because you can always talk about the big stacks, who is looking good and who you reckon is playing well and whether 'so-and-so will blow his massive chip lead for the third competition running...' Then when you get to the final day there's always an excellent story about at least one or two of the players, be it good or bad and you can build up the final table and whether this one will be a classic, and usually my predictions are absolutely So how to describe Day 1B... I could begin by naming a few players who'll be around. But most viewers will know if a regular wasn't playing yesterday, he or she is most likely playing today. I could try and get around it by just posting the chip counts from last night, but they're already here: http://blondepoker.com/forum/index.php?topic=28957.msg592244#msg592244 I just can't think of anything to put for the Day 1B intro, if you have any ideas then let me know... Oh and play will begin at 3pm. Here we go again. Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on November 16, 2007, 03:45:22 PM Well it's a complete sell-out today, we've already got 3 alternatives waiting to play. Alan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=897) Vinnicombe (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=897) is the first casualty with Nick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=305) Gibson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=305) the beneficiary, but all he would say was, "the ideal card I wanted was a club that paired the board..." He'd housed up with Tens whereas Vinnicombe was holding Ac 8c.
Barry (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) Neville (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=42) has already lost a big 8k pot, passing to a milky 2k bet on the river of a 9c 7h Ac 3d Qc. Dan Owston has hit a straight flush already with 4c 5c on a 2c 3c 6h 6c board extracting a fair number of chips from the utterly fabulously named Ben Dong who was holding a six. Barny Boatman, fresh from his success in Bristol, just won a 4,000 pot from Chunkymick, on a 9c 4d 6d 5h 5c board with 8h 7d. Dan Carter is wishing he stayed at the bar to get his food as he's already down to 9,000. Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Chili on November 16, 2007, 03:54:07 PM Good Luck to Mr Silo & other Blondes. Yes good luck indeed to Silo Graham or Graham Codd as his mother named him. He is table buddies with Simon Zach, Neil Channing, Andrew O'Flaherty & Nam Le today, pah peice of cake for the blondeite. (http://www.blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=4557&g2_serialNumber=1) As mentioned by Floppy, a highly enthused Nick Gibson here after doubling up almost straight away. There were a few limpers then a raise from Andrew Feldman to 150, Woodsey gave him a spin with 6d 3h and was rewarded with a flop of
3d 5d 6s Woodsey fired out and was called, same again on the 3c turn and same again on the Kc river. Feldman was holding Js Jh and payed off the cheeky monkey. Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on November 16, 2007, 04:42:22 PM A spate of exits for you now:
We've lost S Pearl with K-T vs Craig Holloway's A-T on a T-x-x board, this is the same table that also features Kevin O'Leary, Jeff Kimber and Julian Thew. Thewy is doing least well of all with just 2k left after flopping two pair with J-7 but finding Stephen Chandler with a set of Nines, a 7 on the turn assured there was going to no escaping however the hand was played. Richard Ashby has been gifted practically all of David la Ronde's chips with Aces versus Queens. "Sadly I can't make it any more exciting than that," he said. (http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=4583&g2_serialNumber=1) Luke Trotman is cursing his bad luck at flopping a straight, only to discover that Chris Gavriel had flopped the nut flush with Ahrt Th. With Roberto Romanello also in the hand, swelling the size of pot, combined with Gavriel's reputation for making big moves and playing with filth on a regular basis was enough evidence to deny benefit of the doubt. Even Romanello said afterwards to Gavriel, "I was so sure you were bluffing there..." Finally, here is Womble exercising his folding hand no doubt... (http://blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=4577&g2_serialNumber=1) Maria has some Dominic Kay news for you and also a tale of Dan Carter running gooooooooooooood... Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Chili on November 16, 2007, 04:48:21 PM Thank you Chili, much appreciated. When you get his count tell him dalzini says good luck Here is Dominic Kay but sadly he is down to about 5,000. He is a vocal fella, and has just been involved in a hand where he was reraised and dwelled for a quite a while. Ariston, not wanting to be out done on the yapping stakes said "Mate, I'm not gonna call the clock on you in a second, I'm gonna call the calender on you!" (http://www.blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=4585&g2_serialNumber=1) Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Chili on November 16, 2007, 04:54:15 PM Dan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=86) Carter (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=86) has doubled up through scouser Terence Page in rather excitingly outdrawtastic circumstances. On board of :
Js 4d 4c Dan bet out 1,800 in first position which tickled Terence into a 4,000 reraise. Dan had a long hard think but couldn't pass his Kh 4s. He announced all in with an InstaCall from Terence and an InstaQuote from Dan "You have Ace 4 don't you?" Indeed Terence did have A 4 but a sick Ks on the turn and Qh on the river, sent the chips over to master Carter and a tasty 20,100 stack now for him. (http://www.blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=4589&g2_serialNumber=1) Happy Dan Boy (http://www.blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=4569&g2_serialNumber=1) Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on November 16, 2007, 05:04:21 PM Roberto the Filth Merchant...
Mr Romanello checked call bets of 1,200 and 1,000 on a Ad 7c 2h 6d board before betting out 2,500 on the 5h river, his opponent quickly calling with Ac Kd, Roberto showed 7s 2s... Julian Thew has doubled up, pushing for 1.5k over the top of a 500 bet on a 3c 2c 3h and getting called. Julian showed 6c 6h, which looked as though they maybe vunerable until the bettor showed 4c 4d! Mark Robinson, Dave Penly and H Yilmaz are all OUT. And we are now, slightly oddly on a *************************1 Hour Dinner Break******************** Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: snoopy1239 on November 16, 2007, 05:21:56 PM I know we have two updates on the go today, but if you do manage to get a spare moment, then be sure to catch Jen's tournament report from Amsterdam by clicking the magic link below. (http://www.blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=4585&g2_serialNumber=1) This is Dominic Kay, who many will recognise from the Gutshot where he has made his fair share of final tables. He also made the recent WSOPE final table for no entry fee. A Betfair player who qualified through a satellite couldn't make it and because Dominic had helped him out when (1) he'd asked for the password for the satellite and (2) offered advice when the player tried to sell his seat, he was offered a 50-50 split if he played in his place. Well, it worked out well for the both of them, to the tune of around 70k each. Not bad for a few days work, especially when one is freerolling and the other isn't even there! But at the same time, he's probably the most exciting, as you generally don't know where the balls are going to go. Sadly in the comp, he's only got around 4k at the moment.
I'm afraid, Colonel, the Camel is not here. He's not on the list, therefore he's not coming in! ;) Play is just about to restart with the blinds 75/150 Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Chili on November 16, 2007, 06:09:16 PM hey maria. any updates on Tuan (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1140) Le (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=1140) please. NoflopsHomer on November 16, 2007, 06:47:53 PM hey maria. please can you pass on the best of luck to stu rutter and Nick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=306) Hicks (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=306). and noflops is right, stu is absolutely terrible at pool. still, if there was a competition for who could hit the ball off the most cushions he would be in!... Tom x Dan almost 7-balled him, if he had made this one fairly easy shot... Actually speaking of Stuart, he's just almost doubled up, moving in on the river of a 8c 4c 8s Ac 7d board, Simon Grace passed his 8d 9h face up, resulting in a tap on the table from Rutter as he showed 8h 7d. Marty Wilson took a decent pot from Dave Smith on a 4-8-Q-2-7 board with trip Eights, but missed a bet by inexplicably checking the river against Dave who isn't not an incredibly aggressive player, but at the same time is hard to push off a hand. Oh and Barry Neville just suffered a... (http://www.jkd-la.com/images/4-punch-03.jpg) moment. Maria has the details.. Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Chili on November 16, 2007, 06:50:45 PM News just in is that Barry Neville is OUT. A big pot apparently with 3 way action, the short stack Mike Lott was all in on a flop of:
Qd 9s 8c Muntaser Humadi made a bet and Barry moved all in over the top. Muntaser called, on their backs with: Neville 8d 8h Muntaser 9c 9d Muntaser takes the pot and knocks both players out. The first chap is Linton Holling and has me in stiches every time he open's his mouth.
Linton looking rather Jokeresque (http://www.blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=4587&g2_serialNumber=1) Ian "Big Noise" Gardner who says this is his lucky shirt and he wore it in his last big win in "1951." A couple of calculated bluffs that went wrong, first with A-Q on a J-T-2-9-7 board that ran into Eights. Then he fired three barrels again into an A-2-3-A-7 board but was check/called by A-J.
Matt Tyler is having a turbulent time, he raised from the cut-off which the button, small and big blinds called. Matt can't remember the exact flop, but he hit a pair and a gutshot draw and lead for 600, the button min-raised and the blinds passed. Sensing weakness, Matt set him in for 6,000 more and was INSTA-called by erm, A-6 for no hand no draw, except the foe managed to hit runner runner straight to knock Matt to just about 1,500. He managed to double up with T-T vs Tim Flander's 6-4 on an 8-6-4 board when the turn brought a second 8 to counterfeit and has since had his Aces paid off and is back up to 13k. A bizarre half-an-hour... Chris Gavriel is OUT. One of the 'big moves' mentioned earlier that went wrong. Any ideas about "The Gas Man's" sudden exit last night? Hello Mr River, came back with 15.5k at the last break, raised it up in LP with Ahrt Th too 1600, which was met by an all in (another 3100 to call) his 8c 9c won. Was down to around 10000, raised a few hands but my raises were not getting much respect (not sure why) so when I had 9 BB's left I decided to move in instead of being re-raised again and ran into a big pair (I had an overcard ahem) So how are you these days? I'm afraid not, we saw and heard nothing. In other news C T Law has doubled up to 25,000 through Jerome Bradpiece. Nick Hicks is OUT after practically only playing 2 hands all day, the first dent was Kings against Aces and the nail in the coffin was a sick JJ v 88 only for an 8 to smack onto the felt for his oppo.. Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on November 16, 2007, 08:23:00 PM Relatively frustrating days for both Ash Hussain and Chaz Chattha, both struggling away with just 4k and seemingly unable to get started.
'Skalie' John Kalmar is OUT. He held K-Q on a K-7-J board against the double gutshotting T-9 which hit on the river. Adam Wilkinson has also exited, the decibel level won't change much though since Mad Marty Wilson is still there... Richard Hawes, in seat 9 below, and who is very much a Beck lookalike or 'Beckalike' has just exited to the hands of Jason Shellum in seat 10. Beckalike bet 2,500 on the turn of a 7h Ad Td 6d board an Shellum set him in, Hawes called with Ac Qc whilst Shellum had him drawing dead with 7s 7c... Stuart has graciously gone from 3k upto a current 20,000. All done in a few hands but it begin with Stuart holding 8 7 in a six way pot on a flop of:
8h 8c 4c One of his opponents hit a flush on the turn with the Ac but the beauty of a river card for Stuart was a 7h for the house. Then more recently he has been all in with AK v AJ TWICE and held up both times, its deffo looking like Stuart's day so far Tom. Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: NoflopsHomer on November 16, 2007, 09:59:14 PM Roberto Romanello is OUT of his second tournament in a week holding Aces. His small raise to 625 (blinds 150/300/25) enticing Ariston to call with 7-3 on the button, all the money going in on an 8-7-3 flop and no improvement for the Welshman.
Marty Wilson is personally commentating on every single all-in battle on his table, as though he's auditioning for Vicky Coren's job. At the same time he's making sure everyone knows everyone else on his table in a way that reminds me of Louis' dinner party in Ghostbusters... "Ok everyone, this is Surinder Sunar, he's a professional poker player, he's just been moved our table..." (http://www.xenafan.com/movies/ghostbusters/louis_s.jpg) Soon enough though he's silent as they're in a battle, the board reading 7h 9s Ac 2c 3s and Marty picks out a whole host of chips, and bets 10,150 by stamping the stack down firmly in front of Surindar in an attempt to intimidate. It's all too much the former Paris WPT winner, the bet is worth half his stack and he he doesn't want to play. Quick as a flash, Marty shows Qc 5s and rakes in the pot. For the second consecutive hand Josh Tyler and Marty (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=978) Wilson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=978) see a flop, the first encounter Josh bet and Marty came over the top by pulling a tall stack of 1 thousands over the line. That time Josh passed.
Next hand, on a flop of 9c 7d 8h Josh bet out again about 3.5k and again Marty pulled a big stack of purples (1k) over the line to cover Josh. This time Josh calls after careful consideration. On their backs and Marty is behind: Marty Kh 9s Josh 9h 7h The turn came Tc River a sucker punching 8c to knock out Josh with a same two pair but King kicker - OUCH, I hate that! (http://www.blondepoker.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=4750&g2_serialNumber=1) I found Paul Moss (Fatmarra) online in the corner table, ducking and diving as usual. As I stood by for his big blind, he was raised and no chance Paul would allow this so he called, saw the all low flop, the original raiser bet out 4,500 and Paul went all in. His oppon insta mucked, and it just got me pondering how many players make more moves because an updater is poised on there shoulder waiting for action. Not in anyway I am suggesting this of Paul Moss's play because that it is his usual move LOL. 72 players made it through to day 2. This didn't include Terry Arnold who bet 2.5k on the turn of a Aspades 2c 3d 4c board and saw Kevin O'Leary move all-in behind him. Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: Graham C on November 17, 2007, 04:18:03 AM Reverend and the Makers - what a band. Listened to them on the way up, great album.
Yep, made it into day to in reasonable shape. Currently on 34,700 ish which is, going by last nights average, just above average. Been a great day and I'm pleased to have been on tables full of well known poker names. I think the first table I was on was the best for a giggle. Neil Channing, Simon Zach and lots of others - Daniel Something, a young Liverpudian guy, others I can't remember, but they seemed to know each other and it was just good fun and I have to admit, I was a bit disapointed when our table was broken. Not much happened here for me except hitting a FH against a straight. Put me up to 11k and I sort of hovered around there till the table broke. 2nd table saw me on with Roberto, Ross (who I've just found out is Ariston), man does he talk, but he's a great character, the guy who won the Vic leg of this tour, and well, I just don't know who these people are but that's probably a good thing, but another good bunch to be sharing a table with. Ariston did give a bit of a moan when I checked down 3 way in a pot with AQ against his JJ and someone elses AJ. Well, you never know where you stand sometimes do you. He's moaned a bit though, it's all good fun. I was quite surprised when he called Roberto's raise with 73s and then hit two pair thus cracking his aces. Don't think Roberto was too pleased either. I guess the cash games will make up for it. Had a few nice hands at this table and was bumbling along nicely, then just before were broken, I had KK and a shorter stacked pushed with 88. Thankfully my cards held (I hit trips infact) and I took another 10k or so. Table break again. Moved back to a table with Ariston, Willie Tann, Chaz Chattra, and again, apologies, I just don't know who you all are. I was on about 40k here and tried to raise with AJ but missed the flop with 1 caller, really missed it, raised with ATs against Aristons BB. He put me all in but i passed and he showed KK (good pass) and then I had to pass TT in the BB to a raise from someone that had me well covered. I just didn't want to get into it so late in the day and he showed AK so perhaps that was a good pass too. Thankfully we'll never know. So on to day 2. I came here with day 2 as my goal and I've made it. Not only that, I'm in reasonable shape. Cash games here are just sick. I haven't a clue what level the game I watched was at, but some guy paid £225 to see that he was beaten. He said he knew he was beat but he wanted to see! £225. The total pot was around £600 I think. Another pot I saw involved a bluff of £1200, when the other guy called, he just mucked his cards. It's a sick sick game and they're sitting there with thousands like it's nothing. It's just scary, I'll stay away. I did toy with having a bash on the £50 game but I chickened out and decided to throw away £20 on roulette instead - I'm such small fry it's unbelievable :D I've got to check out at 11am, so I guess I'd better get some kip, The room I'm in is booked out to someone else but there are other rooms I can move too, so I'll probably do that. I did consider moving closer to the hotel as it's about a mile away, but the walk is quite nice actually and probably does me some good if I'm just sitting there all day. Until tomorrow ;stickaforkinme; Title: Re: Bluesquare.com Blackpool GUKPT: Day 1B - Interactive Post by: CrestOfaWave on November 17, 2007, 04:44:49 AM chip count for Ash please Snoops I had a major part in his demise - foolishly chasing a gutshot down to the river after he had increased his bet size each street.
