Title: Going South on iPoker
Post by: kinboshi on November 16, 2007, 07:03:40 PM
You couldn't do this on tribeca, but it appears you can on iPoker.

Had someone on the table sit down with a small-ish stack.  He more than doubles up.  Then he leaves the table and sits down again two hands later with his initial stack again.

Is this old news?

On tribeca you had to sit back down with the same stack you left with if you sat down again within 30 minutes (or something like that).  I thought it was the same on most (all) sites, but it doesn't appear to be the case on ipoker.  I even checked the hand history to make sure it wasn't someone with a similar name sitting down in the same seat.

Surely this is wrong?

:dontask:

It is wrong, very wrong. I thought it couldn't happen in ipoker.

interesting - I left a blonde cash table up the other day, then sat down for a bit more - it would only let me sit with what I left with.  Did he have time to withdraw before he resat?  Wondering if he might be allowed to sit again if that were the case?

one way round this is to sit down on an empty table with your whole roll apart from what you want to sit back down with

they cant make you sit with $100 if you only have $50 ledt in your account

once you have sat in you can then remove yourself from the empty table

Easy enough, don't let them sit down if they don't have the required $.

i think it's time to increase min buyins to 40 BBs now. some FR tables only have 2 players with 100+ BB stacks.

Just gone through the hand history on pokertracker - I was on 4 tables, and so wasn't sure I'd seen it correctly (as I was fairly sure it wasn't possible to do this on ipoker).  But I wasn't mistaken:

I simply won't play on a table where a shortstack is in 3 seats to my left.  On some poker clients I think I read that if you logged off you could return with less.

Happens all the time on Sky poker.

Someone sits down with £100, then doubles or trebles, leaves the table and returns with £100 until the next time he leaves. If this happens at the table I am playing I usually leave, make a note against the players name and try not to sit with the culprit again.

I think it is totally "bad form"

It shouldn't be allowed.  I did think that it was impossible to do on iPoker.  Obviously not...

Yes, happens all the time on Sky, and seeing as that is the site I play the most cash games on I just thought this practice was normal and accepted.  Will follow your lead Foggy and 'mark' it up in future now.

It's not 'allowed' in live cash games, and most poker rooms have systems in place to stop it.  Usually, if you try and sit back down at the same table within 30 minutes (or something like that), the software will only give you the option to sit down with the same amount you left the table with.

just tried and it also allows me to do this on the starstriple draw table..maybe because you can stick your entire bankroll on the table but I don't see why it should be right.

I don't think it matters so much for limit games though!

I just sat at a table with $50, left, tried to sit down, still needed $50.

Logged out, logged in, tried to sit, still needed $50!

Put cash on another table so balance was < $50, tried to sit - still not allowed.

Odd.

She's not nude.  She's wearing something, it's just very thin and close fitting.

It's Kev actually.

Question is, which way is she spinning?

Could it be some skins allow it and other don't?  That wouldn't be right at all.

It doesn't matter much for limit but I still consider it rather rude to be honest.

Possibly.

I think the best thing to do is wait until Kev comes back from Ireland and get him to sort it out. ;)

same situation in both formats.................they are taking yours and others cash with no chance of the participants recovering their money

Definately less true in online poker, ive witnessed ppl go south and return with the min and simply just put the money back on thru rebuys.

Its only morally wrong, not against the rules as far as i know, i dont personally do it but if ppl wanna stretch the morals then thats up to them.

I play rugby within the rules, but i'll stretch the "morals" or unspoken rules as far as i can to benefit the team. Thats life!

On some sites, it's against the rules, and easily stopped.
