i am saying that you cannot get true HD through a stream at UK broadband rates

i have tried watching them both in a streaming version and dl

and i would take the download everytime

the only good thing about the stream is you can watch when you like rather than having to download it first

You have confused me, i stream HD programs daily, no problem.
I sometimes download stage6 stuff because their webplayer dislikes me using my computer for anything else while it's in use, but this is a second resort.

I think this is what ironside is saying:

HD shows require more information than your net connection can download per second, so while you can get a stream of HD shows that might be made from a HD source, it will have been encoded to < HD to make it streamable.

Make sense?

HD programs are HD

but HD streams are more HQ streams rather than HD

So you are downloading non HD files to watch, so you may aswell stream.................

ABC stream "true" hd, if you buffer long enough then it is quite possible no?

What people are trying but failing to explain is that any program is encoded using a lossy compression format when you stream or download, thus no matter what when you download or stream you are NOT getting the original broadcast quality.

Actually untrue you CAN get the original broadcast quality file if you wish but the file size is large and you couldn't tell the difference anyway.
I had assumed when something was labelled hd it actually was, it's not something that matters anyway as the quality is awesome and with my monitor much better than my telly.

There are multiple formats of hd anyway, and if the file has been compressed in any way the the true hd image will be comprimised.
For true 1080 HD format the file will be very large but will be correct.

I honestly didn't know this till pointed out, i have certainly learnt something though it is largely irrelevant as i what is out there is fantastic quality.
