Title: real player 11 Post by: Ironside on November 18, 2007, 04:21:48 AM best player on the market by a mile now
you can even use it to download videos from streaming sites like you tube and pokertube to your hard drive i know there is software that does this but none i have found that works on as many sites and none that works in your browser Title: Re: real player 11 Post by: ifm on November 18, 2007, 10:44:55 AM I use VLC, very small, uses little resources and plays just about every file type in existence.
It has the feature to stream from a URL since i first heard of it, didn't think it was unique tho. Realplayer i only ever use for radio as it is very tough on the cpu but then my lappy is a few years old now. Title: Re: real player 11 Post by: Bongo on November 18, 2007, 03:35:40 PM I've avoided real player like the plague for years now. It's been so long that I can't actually remember why!

Have read ur post in this thread and others about different sites, I use something called Azzures and normally download from iso.. Are there better sites out there? should i be using something else instead of Windows Media.. So many questions.. Would be gratefull of any help.. Cheers Title: Re: real player 11 Post by: Ironside on November 18, 2007, 08:42:35 PM i aint talking about streaming from a url all players have been doing that for aslong as i have been on the net
i am talking about single click download to turn your stream into a wmv or a avi or mov or what ever it was uploaded as before if there was a video on youtube you wanted to save you had to install a standalone piece of software and it would only work on 1 or 2 sites Title: Re: real player 11 Post by: Graham C on November 18, 2007, 11:23:53 PM I think you've things a bit mixed up Jizz, Real Player is just a player, like Windows Media Player. Azureus (I assume you mean) is a torrent downloading program, usually hooky stuff off the net. You get the small torrent file from websites which allow you to download stuff.
Nothing wrong with watching stuff in WMP, the VLC program is very good though, but anything is ok. I'd personally stay away from MS products as they tend to be a bit resource hungry compared to some of the freeware stuff like VLC, but there's nothing wrong with it. I stopped using Real Player because it wanted to control my life. If I played an mp3, RP would just take over, play a video RP would be on the case, everything I did it was there haunting me so I uninstalled it and was happy for ages. Then Cbeebies decided you needed it to watch their clips (I do have a child :D ) and I have it installed again, but I have control over it now mmwahahahah. Anyway, back you your last question Jizz, are there better places to download stuff from? Of course there are, there always is, but like everything, it depends on what you want, when you want it and if you are prepared to put a little effort it :D Title: Re: real player 11 Post by: ifm on November 18, 2007, 11:44:06 PM i aint talking about streaming from a url all players have been doing that for aslong as i have been on the net i am talking about single click download to turn your stream into a wmv or a avi or mov or what ever it was uploaded as before if there was a video on youtube you wanted to save you had to install a standalone piece of software and it would only work on 1 or 2 sites Gotcha, i use orbit downloader handy bit of kit it has a tool called grab that basically leaches ANY media from a site be it vids from youtube or mp3's from myspace. Again tiny program that doesn't hog your resources like realplayer, very highly recommended. Music not a problem, but Films and or Programs just dont seem to work because of codec or something.. Codecs are what programs use to decode and read vids on the net, back in the day it was a nightmare hunting down the right one for the right film but these days there are some great generic ones which you don't even notice you have.Have read ur post in this thread and others about different sites, I use something called Azzures and normally download from iso.. Are there better sites out there? should i be using something else instead of Windows Media.. So many questions.. Would be gratefull of any help.. Cheers Get VLC, it is a player that basically plays any format and is preloaded with just about every codec you'll need, it's free too. I use "Real Alternative" to get around that. Title: Re: real player 11 Post by: Graham C on November 20, 2007, 08:40:48 AM for your cbeebies watching?
