Title: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: amcgrath1uk on November 20, 2007, 11:12:34 AM should be winnable home game this week vs 4th in the league
Won the toss and batted as planned, lost my opener 1st ball however Currently 45-1 in the 12th over Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bongo on November 20, 2007, 11:54:35 AM I'm playing top, unbeaten all season, I don't have a chance.
Game is at home, so hard and fast pitch, 8 batsmen, 3 bowlers, rest made up of everyone else chipping in. Maybe I can grab a draw or at least bat until day 3 and get me some extra cash! I'm helped by oppositions tendency to bat first, see out the first day and adjust tactics to suit. So far so good! End of Over 23 (5 runs). Avems Gooners: 83-0, runrate=3.61 Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bazzaboy on November 20, 2007, 12:17:22 PM I've made a major error today. I was try in to change my pitch from dusty to hard and fast (opposition are better than me so only hope was to get a batting pitch and go for a draw) however, didn't do it early enough and it is currently green....playing into his hands :(. Currently 59-5
Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bongo on November 20, 2007, 03:00:42 PM End of Over 70 (4 runs). Avems Gooners: 364-2, runrate=5.20
All going to plan - he's been hitting 5rpo against most people's best attacks, so I can't grumble. First choice bowlers coming back into the attack now, so hopefully slow him a little and pick up a bowling point! Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bazzaboy on November 20, 2007, 03:31:02 PM I was bowled out for 123 :( . Does anyone know if the pitch change will take effect for day two or will it remain green for the duration of the match?
Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bongo on November 20, 2007, 03:32:59 PM Stays the same throughout the match, otherwise home teams could have huge advantages.
In future they will deteriorate over the course of the game, which could be fun! Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bazzaboy on November 20, 2007, 03:46:12 PM Suspected that would be the case. I may have lost anyway but I'd have had a chance of a draw on a batting pitch. Have virtually full strength side out as well so they will be getting PFL hits in a game they cannot win ;grr;
Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Ironside on November 20, 2007, 04:26:54 PM i got a strong team out this week but i am still playing a stronger team
he as 330+ for lose of 2 wickets Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Nakor on November 20, 2007, 06:00:23 PM Playing a much better team then myself today but . . .
PFL shot to pieces. Bowled them for 82 and I am 367 for 1. Bat tomorrow and bowl them out again on day 3 I guess. My last chance for points for a few weeks so a nice bonus. Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: divaflava on November 20, 2007, 06:19:39 PM Winnning easy. Them 88-10, me400odd-1 or so.
Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bongo on November 20, 2007, 06:21:22 PM All going to plan so far - them 609-3.
I hope he forgets to login and set a declaration! ;) Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: amcgrath1uk on November 20, 2007, 09:45:47 PM well after the 1st ball wicket, things couldn't have got any better, apart from one MINOR thing
rested my top 2 batters, and my new allrounder. So was very happy to score 503-4 dec, with my no 3 scoring 205, my no 4 scoring 103, and frustratingly, my no 5 (the captain) scored 99no when he declared. In reply, after 21 overs, I have them 40-7. I'm at home, so deciding between cash and PFL is my job for tonight. Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: KeithyB on November 21, 2007, 12:39:29 AM The changes to bot pfl seem to have taken effect as I had one that wagged from 53-7 to 199 all out today!
Still should win easily enough but interesting times ahead as the four "real" teams in the division start to clash soon! Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: amcgrath1uk on November 21, 2007, 11:24:46 AM well after the 1st ball wicket, things couldn't have got any better, apart from one MINOR thing rested my top 2 batters, and my new allrounder. I'm at home, so deciding between cash and PFL is my job for tonight. Bowled them out for 50 this morning. have gone for PFL as at this rate, will have both leagues wrapped up in 2 weeks, meaning I can focus on improving players and not worry so much about the games. made them follow on, but have opened with a spinner and my no 3 bowler, just so they can have a decent bowl for a change, rather than bowling at tail enders they are batting better than in the 1st innings and are 27-1 from 8 overs. Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Ironside on November 21, 2007, 11:28:24 AM they finally declared at 428-4
i am 17-0 in reply off 8 overs no idea why people are worring about PFL most of my team played on friday at GFI and still managed to be subline after a full day in the field including my bowlers Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bongo on November 21, 2007, 12:51:40 PM End of Over 31 (5 runs). Bigglesthwaite CC: 86-0, runrate=2.77 (Lunch)
So far so good! Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bongo on November 21, 2007, 03:06:30 PM End of Over 66 (1 runs). Bigglesthwaite CC: 198-2, runrate=3.00 (tea)
Trail by 425 runs. (Avems Gooners 623-3 dec) Minor annoyance of my opener getting out on 96, over than that it is going well, and I'm approaching the heady heights of batting bonus points now! Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bazzaboy on November 21, 2007, 03:14:40 PM Was going well then lost the wicket of Harris in the penultimate ball before tea. I needed him and AN Other to put together a big partnership to have any hope of salvaging something from this match. Managed to get max bowling points so thats something I guess...every little helps and all that.
End of Over 30 (2 runs). KBOTW: 100-2, runrate=3.33 (1st Inn: 123-10) Trail by 77 runs. (Alfie Allstars 300-10) Mackay 7-0-22-2 Meyer* 1 (2 balls) Morgan 29 (25 balls) Last Wicket: Harris b. Mackay 45 (FOW: 99/2) Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: divaflava on November 21, 2007, 04:22:38 PM Might have messed up here. At home and wasn't sure whether I'd be able to log in and eclare tonight so set a target of 998, which my lot reached around Tea (1000-3dec* does at least look pretty). Now got them at 14-2 and my club accountant is looking nervous :(
*This is a human controlled team; he's yet to master the art of managing PFL among his bowlers and now his batters are looking tired too. Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Ironside on November 21, 2007, 04:24:23 PM i made 174 AO in 70 overs
and was made to follow on first ball 2nd innings i lose my best batsman this is with a near enough full team out there i would of struggled to win a single match even if i put out my best team each match this season Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: divaflava on November 21, 2007, 05:45:16 PM Them 74-3. Might take a while tomorrow, the batsmen in both have wages of £K plus and are energetic and invigorated. Next two after that are both energetic PFL as well and prob prof bats.
Now think my strike bowlers have done very well to dismiss their top order so quickly in both innings. GL all. Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bongo on November 21, 2007, 05:57:17 PM End of Over 106 (10 runs). Bigglesthwaite CC: 311-4, runrate=2.93
Trail by 312 runs. (Avems Gooners 623-3 dec) Coming up on the 4th batting point, so doing much better than expected. Still got quite a bat of batting to come (next man in has quality batting), so still hopeful I can bat out for a draw (he has to take 16 wickets tomorrow to win!) but the weather could change and make that harder for me! Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bazzaboy on November 21, 2007, 06:50:51 PM I've actually made a decent go of it in my second innings, just needed someone to make a big score and it hasn't happened. I need to try and get a lead of 200 or so to gve my bowlers half a chance of pulling off a shock. Only one more batsman to come though so a couple of quick wickets by them and it will be all over before lunch. Had I got my desired hard and fast pitch I'm pretty sure I'd have got the draw.
End of Over 70 (7 runs). KBOTW: 240-4, runrate=3.43 (1st Inn: 123-10) Lead by 63 runs. (Alfie Allstars 300-10) Knight 10-1-37-0 Bowler* 43 (96 balls) Tau 32 (35 balls) Last Wicket: Morgan c. Christopher b. Sanghera 61 (FOW: 180/4) Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: amcgrath1uk on November 21, 2007, 10:40:27 PM Bowled them out for just 71 meaning an innings and 382 run victory.
happy thing is my ratings are improving rapidly, with 3 mediocre ratings :) Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bongo on November 22, 2007, 12:41:34 PM End of Over 141 (7 runs). Bigglesthwaite CC: 432-6, runrate=3.06
Trail by 191 runs. (Avems Gooners 623-3 dec) Might even avoid the follow on at this rate! Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bazzaboy on November 22, 2007, 12:45:44 PM Going to fall just short by the look of things unless my bowlers can work miracles. I need to hang around for 15overs or so and make another 50runs but 10 and 11 are worthless bats so no real hope of that.
The players are off the field for lunch. End of Over 105 (1 runs). KBOTW: 334-8, runrate=3.18 (1st Inn: 123-10) Lead by 157 runs. (Alfie Allstars 300-10) Howell 25-6-54-1 Tau* 88 (133 balls) Perry 0 (14 balls) Last Wicket: Talamini b. Wrack 0 (FOW: 331/8) Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bazzaboy on November 22, 2007, 01:12:10 PM End of Over 110 (1 runs). KBOTW: 338-10, runrate=3.07 (1st Inn: 123-10)
Lead by 161 runs. (Alfie Allstars 300-10) Wrack 27-7-57-3 Tau* 91 (149 balls Sadly no miracle and Tau didn't manage to get his maiden century. Now I need career best performances from my bowlers for a very unlikely victory. Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bongo on November 22, 2007, 01:33:30 PM GL Bazza.
Just lost my best bat, need to luck out another 9 to avoid the follow on, to make sure I don't lose. Even if I don't avoid it I think it would be very unlucky for me to lose from here! Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bongo on November 22, 2007, 01:39:15 PM The other batsman responds with a 6 and a 4 in the next over. HAPPY DAYS!
End of Over 154 (10 runs). Bigglesthwaite CC: 474-7, runrate=3.08 Trail by 149 runs. (Avems Gooners 623-3 dec) To put this into context, in the last game against him I scored 259-20 (although I may have set everyone to very attacking for a laugh ;)) This will also be the first points he has dropped in FC this season. Start of next over: 2 wickets... Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bongo on November 22, 2007, 01:40:33 PM and a 3rd a few balls later.
Wish I set a declaration target of the follow on total now, would have lost him another point ;danafish; Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bazzaboy on November 22, 2007, 01:44:39 PM nice one. I'm living in hope of a bolwer putting in an inspired spell where they rip through his top order in the space of a few overs. Talamini is the man most likely to do it but the pitch isn't in his favour.
Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: divaflava on November 22, 2007, 02:52:52 PM Gorseybrigg old boys won by an innings and 658 runs.
Any news from planet KBOTW? Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bazzaboy on November 22, 2007, 03:07:20 PM Only bad news I'm afraid. They are cantering towards their target without any problems. Blew the match with my pitch error followed by abject batting in the first innings.
Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Ironside on November 22, 2007, 05:52:35 PM i losr by over an innings
Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Bongo on November 22, 2007, 06:00:38 PM I got my draw, and spread the PFL load around quite nicely too.
A league mate in sledging was rather shocked ;) Title: Re: battrick 1st class 20/11 Post by: Nakor on November 22, 2007, 07:02:09 PM Won by an innings and a few hundred.

I suspect I will need to win 2 of then to have any hope of top 4.
