The game is Pot Limit I dont know how to get away from this hand but maybe thats why I enjoy but struggle at cash. any advise much appreciated. In my defence I put him on an overpair to the board. Dealt to Thegolfer [Ac Ad] Xing raises to $20 The golfer re raises to $60 Xing calls $60 Flop [6h 6s 5d] Xing checks the golfer bets $120 Xing calls $120 turn [5h] Xing checks thegolfer bets $360 Xing bets $856 and is all in thegolfer: calls $496 ----- RIVER ----- [5d 6c 6h 5h][4c] ----- SHOW DOWN ----- xing: shows [Th 6s] (A Full House, Sixes full of Fives) thegolfer: shows [Ah Ad] (Two Pairs, Aces and Sixes, Five high) xing collected $2071 from Main pot ----- SUMMARY ----- Total pot $2072 Main pot $2071 Rake $1 Board [5d 6c 6h 5h 4c] Seat 1: xing (small blind) showed [Th 6s] and won ($2071) with A Full House, Sixes full of Fives Seat 2: thegolfer (big blind) showed [Ah Ad] and lost with Two Pairs, Aces and Sixes, Five high Title: Re: Cash players do you call this? Mostly I would like to know how it should have been played. best I can offer is to check behind on the turn and call any river bet. the previous big pot we played this chap lost with A J on a jack high board when I turned the straight. Post by: temp0r on November 20, 2007, 02:52:36 PM he plays it well. but you have to think to yourself when he check raises all in on the turn he can't have a draw or an overpair. because he's only getting action if he's drawing dead then! AA is the only other hand than a 5 or 6 that would call him.

Post by: jakally on November 20, 2007, 02:54:59 PM It is difficult to make a decision on an action in Heads Up Cash based on the information from one hand - so much depends on the tendencies shown by an opponent over previous hands. I am no HU expert, but the key bit of info for me is how light the opponent will get All In. In this case, I think your bet on the turn is too big. It is either a check, (probably my choice), or a smaller bet (half to 2/3 pot). By betting as much as you did, you virtually take the option of bluffing away from him - i.e. you are pretty much committed. Title: Re: Cash players do you call this? I think preflop and the flop are pretty standard. I would actually check behind the turn on that card, it is WA/WB (way ahead/way behind) situation. In these situations pot control is important, then i would call most bets on the river trying to catch a bluff, or make a small value bet to extract value from a smaller overpair. the turn, you bet big..too big IMO, there's no need for a full pot sized bet I think.. when he checkraises you are only beating a bluff. On the turn I would be inclined to slow down. You're in position so you control the pot. If you think/he has proven to stick all his money in on a complete bluff you can defend the call, I certainly don't expect anyone with an overpair to the board to checkraise me all-in here if he has me down as a decent HU player who might just have a 5 or 6 when in position. . Its that old but Ive got AA feeling, you wait so long for them, and getting action as well you feel they should give you a big payday. tends to backfire. Thanks for the insight |
