Title: Shares For Bigger Events
Post by: UpTheMariners on November 21, 2007, 07:25:30 PM
i have a suggestion, knock it if you want but its just an idea. the proposal is to get players with small bankrolls into bigger events. the idea for example would be to get 6 players to each pay £175 (175x6= £1050) to fund a gukpt seat. the 6 players would play a 6 person sng to determine who plays the main event. the winner of the 6 person sng would have a 50% share for the tournament, while the losing 5 other players would each have a 10% stake in any winnings. this would be similar to the blonde league which is already in place but without the free money. so even if you are unsuccessful in the sat you will still have an interest.  :dontask: what do you think?

I think there should be freeroll qualifiers into the feeders for the sats, to give Booder a chance to play.

We could do a private table on Blonde. We would not be responsible for any payments from the live events. We would all have to hope that everyone would honour the deal.  I assume what we would do is to arrange who would play in each one and then tie up the table. More ideas please and we will sort it out. I would love to book a table like this for friends.

you want a 6 handed stt at $350 + $35 ... get me 6 definite runners and i will put it on.

you give me a date and a time (need as much notice as possible)

If you want me to run an mtt sat @ $38.50 with 1 seat for every 10 runners, I can do that too.

like i have said before, get me the runners and i can put on whatever you want.

Seems we have names for the first 6 seater SNG for Luton....with date and time to be confirmed. :)up

As suggested with future 6 seater SNGs,  maybe we can allocate 1 possible 2 seats to qualifers from a mtt sat.....got a feeling it would be a popular monthly qualifer!

And a rakerace to the feeder to the sats with the 2nd place getting into a consolation caption competition supersat.

Only joking, this is a brilliant idea, I'd do it.

Bypass the reg fee by transferring the cash to one persons account on stars say and play a 10c stt.

Could we not do a 10 cent tournie on blonde to achieve the same thing? Agree to wear a blonde t-shirt at the event etc?

Also, this is maybe a bit too far ahead thinking, but 2nd place gets a slightly better % stake perhaps? Nah, forget I said it.

Just to keep everyone in the loop, I have requested a 6 man table which is password protected... scheduled for Sunday 2nd Dec at 8pm

it is a $270 entry fee with a winner take all prize of $1620

starting stack of 2.5k and 15 min levels

Mariners has 6 runners for this first comp which i believe is buying the winner into the Luton Xmas cracker.

Im sure the 6 will be revealed, and good luck to all of them ... obv a blonde shirt will go to the winner.

Going forward we could make these 10 handed with 1 or 2 seat made available via sats...

Fair play to UpTheMariners for the suggestion.

I will be at DTD that weekend, but hopefully we will get a fair few railbirds and maybe someone can do some updates on the forum :)

You might have saw in the press a few weeks ago, the case in court of the 3 bingo players who had/or had not, agreed to split the winnings when either of them won. The bottom line, after a couple of court appearances, was that a verbal agreement was dodgy ground for a binding contract, and the "winner"was allowed to keep all the money.

Not casting aspersions on any Blonde of course :D, but if we're going to run a few of these, it might be sensible that the winner of any satellite to PM the other 5 that he/she is happy to give the others 10% each of any winnings.

....of course I bow to any other suggestions from Robert ;tightend;......and of course there is F all you can do if Kev jumps on a plane with 100K and is sunning himself on a barbados beach within a few hours...... ;D

Bit pricey for me to do a 6 seater for the main event.....but would consider a 6 seater sat into a 6 seater sat!...or something along those lines!

Title: Re: Shares For Bigger Events
Post by: Colchester Kev on February 27, 2008, 04:29:19 PM
if you guys want it, I will put it on...

I can do 2 sats of 6 seaters to a final 6 seater if thats what you want. 1 through from each sat ... that would still need 4 paying full entry to the final.

If anyone has an idea of what buy ins etc that they want to play, please PM me with suggestions.

Title: Re: Shares For Bigger Events
Post by: Colchester Kev on February 27, 2008, 04:44:51 PM
Its all about demand Rick ... we have struggled to fill a 6 seater, sats to a sat are a bit of a mare to schedule on a single table basis ... and are not well attended ... trust me, i have put plenty on and always struggled to fill a table.

Like I said, if you or anyone can come up with a price structure that makes it popular and affordable for enough people to make it run, let me know.

what you have to remember also is that the winner would only get the seat and would have to fund his own expenses.

The one good thing about a sat to a final sat ,is that if we dont manage to find 4 full payers, you at least make a good profit from the original sat.

The Irish open is 4,500 euros total... so 6 x 750.   A sat into that being 6 x 125.

I think finding players at 125 would be OK...4 players at 750 could be the sticking point.

Title: Re: Shares For Bigger Events
Post by: stoneii on March 03, 2008, 01:55:36 PM
Something I'm sure you could extend online.  We run a 6 seater live "syndicate" for the Irish Open.  We meet each month, table our monies which go into the kitty and play a SnG.  The results of the SnG are converted to points and the 11 games worth of points are used in a formula to determine our chipstacks for the grand final (formula used doesn't ridiculously punish the short stack).  The grand final is played on a slower clock/blind structure of an evening (8 hours this year for the winner to win a 6 seater SnG :)).

The winner of the grand final represents the "syndicate" in the Open (with hotel/travel expenses too) and also keeps 25% of any winnings.  The other 5 members get 15% each of any winnings.

I'm sure you could extend this online via Kev for groups of players that are not geographically suited to play in a home game each month but are willing to build a roll each month for a representative to play in the bigger buy-in games.  The more members in the syndicate then you can either reduce the games buy-in or increase the "pay-out" (i.e. two people represent in the same comp or 1st plays in Open, 2nd place plays in £1k event elsewhere etc etc etc), but be aware you want to have a reasoanble/worthwhile % holding of anyone managing to cash in a decent event .  It could likely be as versatile as you all agree and once the initial pain of the setup/agreement is made it wil be a recurring theme easy to organise for Kev.  Could also tie-in the syndicates to blonde with goodies for the winner to wear/sport etc to advertise "blonde syndicates" or the like wherever the chosen event is the players are playing in.

If it took off and you had several syndicates rather than 1 big 1, then I'm sure you could even extend the idea(s) ad infinitem (syndicate v syndicate last longers etc etc etc :)

Just some random thoughts

Some sort of points system that allows players free "add-ons" in the grand final - winner = x addon's, 2nd place x-1 - something like that.  I haven't really thought it through, not knowing the complexity's of online tournament setups etc, but didn't think it would be that instant a  non-runner.

Can Blonde as a poker room put on satellites to any event they feel like? Dunno what the legalities are...

When I say satellite, I mean a tournament to a live event open to any person who is a registered member of the blonde cardroom, non-password protected etc.

not formally no. Organisers give permission and they understandably want satellites on their own rooms in the main

We have had arrangements to run sats for events, but only with organisers permission. We've been in touch with all the people you'd expect for others too

Instead we run sats such as this where all participants understand that they will receive cash (no package) to buy into an event but its not a formal satellite where the seat is reserved for you

It is impossible to set up a comp with each player having different chip stacks , or one being able to add on more than another ... while its a good idea in principle,it is not possible mate.

Always open to suggestions though, keep them coming.

LOL I dont think you get it oh purple headed one ...

Why would we want to open our comps for a seat to other rooms ??  the idea of them is that everyone who plays gets a share in the winner ... Plus why should we run them so people can play them on another site ... its the same as you asking Jon Raab why dont you let blonde have access to all the GUKPT sats and feeders... after all they are on the same network... think about what you are asking ;)

well for two reasons that might not suit us

a) for community reasons we would like it to be blonde such that the winner is transferring sums (when he cashes) to people he and we know. There's scope for deals to be reneged on if we involve unknown people and money is subsequently not transferred

b) from a business perspective we want people to play and rake on our card-room and not be tempted to play them on other ipoker rooms

Title: Re: Shares For Bigger Events
Post by: M3boy on March 06, 2008, 12:26:31 PM
Kev, this is what I would set up :

Super Satelite to the £250 plo , £500 dc and the £1000 nl

These would be $50 , $100 , and $200 freezeout sats with decent structure (probably 3000 starting chips and 15 minute levels (may even be 20 minute) respectively.

Satelites to the super satelites of $5 rebuy, $5 or $10 rebuy and $10 or $20 rebuy respectively - running daily

I also think that with the time we have left that you could probably get 2 super satelites for each event. (every 2 weeks say)

NO travel expenses included, just buy in for tourney.

I would estiamte that each super satelite would generate between 2 and 5 seats each - so thats a potential of 30 extra buy ins for the G casino accross the 3 competitions.

I would love it if you could get these organised, but I feel that you would have problems if you need to seek the "ok" from the G to do it - although it makes no business sense whatsoever for the G to say No.

You could even incorporate the "share" idea into the super sats whereby the people who make the final table (and dont win a seat) get 5% of anyone who does win a seat - this may need tweeking a bit

Or just leave it as a normal super sat

Thoughts?

Kev, Tighty, my apologies, I've mis worded one word in there and it's the crux of the argument.

What I meant was could we not open up a satellite to anybody who plays on the blonde poker room, rather than the entire iPoker network, and again rather than password protected comps that only Blonde forum members can access (I'm assuming that most people on Blonde Poker are not forum members).

Its very frustrating Paul, we have tried before and we never get the runners ... simple as that mate. also we cannot advertise or promote comps as sats to a specific event, all we can do is structure them so as the first prize pays a set amount and the players all agree on what they are playing for.

Feeders to a sat ... again we tried and failed to get 6 runners !

Its something that I am keen to offer members, but logistically its a nightmare, and leads to frustration for players when sats dont take place because of 1 or 2 empty seats.

The one off 6 player comps with a winner takes all prize and the other 5 get a 10% share in that winner is the simplest format ... and one that works IF we have the interest.

most of our cardroom players are on the forum

there simply isn't the extra demand to open them up,most of our players don't have the bankrolls to play sats of this size. We struggle to fill one as it is.

Andrew, maybe people are put off by "giving" away so much of a %age of the possible winnings?

I am only suggesting what "ideally" I would run - but I hear Kev when he says it is a nitemare - been there and done that. Seems people "want" satelites, but when it comes down to it they dont register. Like Kev said its frustrating.

Obviously the answer here is for five people to give me £200 each for 10% of me in the £1000 tournament.

I have a 100% record in returning a profit to my backers over the course of my past one tournament so this is a cast iron guarantee of certain profit.*

kev pardon my ignorance. i know we have blonde only cash tables but do we have blonde only sit n goes?

maybe if we did we could arrange feeders on there with maybe someone posting a forum post inviting others to join with the agreement that the winner uses the money to play in the bigger satalite arrange by you.

maybe a $20 10 seater sit n go table with the winner taking all giving them the $200 for the main sat. obv they would have to add there own reg fee to the tournament u arrange.

just a thought and if considered bollox then fine  rotflmfao

Obviously the answer here is for five people to give me £200 each for 10% of me in the £1000 tournament.

I have a 100% record in returning a profit to my backers over the course of my past one tournament so this is a cast iron guarantee of certain profit.*

we dont have blonde exclusive stt's  as a matter of course, i have to request these as and when we need them.

Like i said before, I have tried feeders but we couldnt get 6 runners !!

I am currently looking at various different options to try and please as many people as i can ... what an impossible task that is by the way :D

I can run 6 seat or 10 seat sats to live events, but sats to these are where we have trouble.

cant we have a blonde $20 10 seater set up permantly paying winner only to be used solely for this purpose?

then when some of us are sitting online we may be able to spontaniously drum up enough trade via a thread.

a thankless task i know mate but one you do very well  ;thankyou;

I will make enquiries on the permanent $20 stt table.

Good idea....I think this would work well for Luton, as I think we could find a solid 4 or 5 for the 6 seater sat.

....and because its a weekend/geographically fairly central/popular venue/Blonde has a core of Luton players....I'm sure a low stake feeder sat would get runners.
