Title: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: JungleCat03 on November 23, 2007, 04:16:33 PM Welcome back to the final day!
The players have taken their seats, Dana is eagerly mingling among them gathering snippets of information like a squirrel gathering nuts... ...sort of...except she doesn't keep her notepad in her cheeks...er and she doesn't climb trees, or have a tail. In fact she's nothing like a squirrel really. I probably need a coffee...Wait, she does play the banjo which gives me just enough ammunition to post this ... (http://www.maniacworld.com/squirrel-vs-penguin.jpg) ANYWAY, enough of my inane ramblings and on with the poker for what should prove an exciting climax to the event. Chip count to follow... Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: JungleCat03 on November 23, 2007, 04:27:08 PM Here are the final chip counts from the end of yesterday. Chicken Joe and Marc G will be fearsome with those stacks though Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: danafish on November 23, 2007, 04:30:03 PM Oh my god, it's like looking into the mirror. Which I do a lot.
But I've also been looking around in the cardroom, and things I have so far seen include the exit of Chili. A gent who we believe is Clive Padden raises, only for Paul Jackson to reraise. An all-in call from Chili, with extra added hysterical giggling, and a fold from Padden later, and they're on their backs. As it were. Paul Jackson - Ks Kh Chili - Aspades Qd Board - 8d Ts Qc Jd 5h and although, as Red Dog commented, her hand was getting better all the way, it failed to improve enough for the double up and Maria is OUT. Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: danafish on November 23, 2007, 04:40:49 PM Also now OUT is Mr Thomas Dunwoodie - all in with pocket Eights against Mohammed Hussain's K-6, I think preflop, he sort of got unlucky, but with only 6k coming back today he would have needed some kind of miracle to make any real progress.

After resuming to finish the last remnents of the 600 1200 level this morning, the blinds have escalated onto 800 1600 and thieving has become an important skill... Paul Jackson tries his hand at it by raising to 4k or so from late position. The short stacked Arulmaran Sivaguru debates whether or not to reraise. "Make some noises like a girl and fold" suggest Paul, before Arulmaran folds (sans girly noises) what he says is K-Q. "Oh, good fold. I had you in bad shape" CLAIMS Actionjack. "I don't like to go allin without a hand" CLAIMS Arulmaran before shoving his 12k stack the next hand when it is passed unopened to him. "He's your bitch" Paul Jackson tells the big blind jovially... Martyn Cavanagh has certainly been prospering today and his stack appears to have risen to 60k or so from his initial start of 18k. I see him play two hands while I am at his table. Firstly he calls a bet on a Jh 3h 8s 2s turn and on the river 9c he and his opponent both check. Martyn's sixes are good versus the A-5 of his opponent. WP sir. Next hand Martyn raises it up and is called from the blinds by the table chippie Anthony Nicholls... The flop comes Kd 7c 5s. Anthony checks, Martyn bets 4.5k or so and Anthony calls. The turn is the Td and the river the 9h and both these streets are checked by both players. Martyn tables a winning, cautiously played K-Q whilst Anthony shows a no good pair of 6s. The welshman's stack grows ever larger... Marc Goodwin still has plenty of chips and has arranged his stack into a quite pretty looking, intricately interlaced tower. Not quite at the level of some of Carlos Mortensen's magnificent creations, nonetheless he gets a B for effort. I'll see if I cna grab a shot of this shortly. Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: Karabiner on November 23, 2007, 05:06:47 PM :hello: Dana and Rod, and thanks again for your updating which is indeed most intrepid.
Mohamed Hussein is known in Walsall as taff. Nice bloke and a good solid player. PS Thanks for the excellent gurning pastiche which I found whilst catching up on the Waterford thread ;nanana; Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: danafish on November 23, 2007, 05:07:29 PM A not-massively-explosive hand between Surinder Sunar and Dave Colclough. Surinder raises under the gun and Dave calls from sort of mid position. The flop comes down Ac Td 9s and Surinder bets 6.5k. Dave folds. I'd sort of like to know what he had. In my mind he had Kings. He probably didn't have Kings. He might have had Kings. Please enjoy the photos below, including Super-Branded Mr Blondie himself:

Micky raised to 5k, which Red-Dog now called, but it was re-popped behind by (i think) Clive Padden to 15k. Micky passed after a bit of thought and equally Red Dog passed, showing J-J... Clive showed K-K and Micky apparently passed Q-Q!!! Big pairs all round, well played all round. It's funny, in Waterford, with a deeper average stack, that hand would have almost certainly resulted in 3 allins but here, both Micky and Red Dog got away from their big pairs...No easy chips on THAT table... There are just 2 tables remaining now. The players are on a break of 5 minutes or so before they resume on the 1k 2k level... Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: danafish on November 23, 2007, 05:22:00 PM Tony Nicholls raises to 4k, Martyn Cavanagh calls. A shortstack who we believe is Jujihar "Carson" Reehal (apologies, didn't snap him and now it's too late) also calls. Steve Jelinek now makes it 14k. Martyn Cavanagh folds but both Nicholls and Carson call the extra 10k.
The flop comes 5s 5d 3d and Carson is all in for change. Jelinek calls the change, but Nicholls insta-folds. "You're not even going to think about calling?" protests Jelinek. Jelinek - Ad Aspades Carson - Kd 9d A harmless 8c Js turn and river later, and Carson walks off without a word and Jelinek takes the hefty pot, muttering about how incredibly happy he is that Carson's flush didn't hit... Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: danafish on November 23, 2007, 05:29:11 PM An incredibly shortstacked Doc Sivaguru was just now all in holding Jh 6h to Mickey Wernick's Kh Qh.
"Don't do anything silly," says Mickey, as the dealer deals out the Aspades 5s 3c flop. "Nothing silly now as the 9s turn hits the felt. "I told you nothing silly!" he cries as the Jd river doubles up the Doc. We were very proud of that. By the way, I think there is still a Harpit Gurnam left in the tournament (we spelled it wrong on the chip counts, sorry. We'll try to get you a photo... Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: JungleCat03 on November 23, 2007, 05:37:23 PM There are now 17 remaining players and the average is 60,700. The 1k 2k blinds are likely to take a heavy toll on the small to medium stacks whilst play is likely to tighten up as we approach the bubble.
Who will grasp the nettle and start to dominate is the question... Whoever it is will be hoping that this doesn't happen... However I prefer gurn and will continue with that spelling even if Mr Chambers chooses to disagree.... He hasn't had the best of days, coming into the day as the 2nd chip leader, only slightly behind Marc (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) Goodwin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257), his stack had been whittled away, probably much of it relocated to the burgeoning stack of his tablemate, Martyn (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270) Cavanagh (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270)... I joined his table to find him allin with Marc (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) Goodwin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) who had him well covered. The board was showing 2s 9c 5h 6s Ac and sitting in front of Anthony (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=36) Nicholls (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=36) was Ahrt 7c whilst Marc held the dominating Aspades Qd which was good for what was a rather sizeable pot. It was confusing as to where the chips went in in this hand but David Colclough had some choice quotes regarding this hand, including "that was the most astonishing hand of poker I've ever seen at this stage of a tournament,",closely followed by a comment to Marc (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) Goodwin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) of "Hey Golden Bollocks, I don't want any more complaints from you about your luck!" Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) Colclough (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) is on around 35k whilst Martyn (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270) Cavanagh (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270) is going great guns with around 90k or so... Table 1: Mohammed (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=296) Hussain (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=296) -- 4k, oops, actually I think he's OUT now Red Dog -- 25k... Excellent run over the past couple of days though I think one Mr Zafar Mirza? -- 35k Clive Padden -- 33k after doubling up, 4-flushing with A-K against Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=326) Jackson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=326)'s pocket Nines Steve (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=414) Jelinek (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=414) -- 50k Jo Koumi -- 90k Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=326) Jackson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=326) -- 65k Doc -- 23k Mickey (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) Wernick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) -- 40k Table 2: Martyn (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270) Cavanagh (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270) -- 105k Rob Reece -- 38k (we think - below, in the baseball cap. Arulman who has nursed his short stack throughout today had about 22k at the start of the hand. He raised to 5.5k in late position and Micky scratched his beard several times before moving his single tower of chips totalling about 32k over the line... Arulman had a long think "I don't think I can pass here..." and eventually called with 9s 9d. "I'm happy with that" said Micky, showing Ks Js. The flop came Qh 8s 6c 6g Ac though, providing Arulman with a much needed double up and leaving Mr Wernick looking pretty short. On the same table Zaphir mirza now raises to jsut over 5k, but is met by a re-raise from Steve Jelinek to 20k...he passes. 13 players remain, we have just started the 1.5k 3k level and the average stack is currently 79,400. Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: danafish on November 23, 2007, 06:31:35 PM By the way, I googled Zafar Mirza to try to confirm our player's identity, and for some reason these guys came up. I thought I'd post their photo as now that Red Dog is out, we're down to a single moustache - that of Mr Joseph Koumi. Photo of that hopefully also to follow. In the meantime, enjoy the awesomeness that is the guy on the left:

Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: JungleCat03 on November 23, 2007, 06:53:48 PM Now on 1.5k, 3k, Arulman Sivaguru has just played out a big pot with Steve Jelinek.
Arulman shoved for around 30k on Steve's big blind. "I think I have to call this" remarked Steve and made the call for what was most of his chips with Ac Ks "Ah, I was making a move" said a slightly sheepish Arulman as he turned over 8c 9s... The flop was a scary one for Jelinek as it came down 6s Jc 7h.... giving Arulman plenty of outs. The turn came the 6d... The river was the...2c meaning Arulman was the unlucky 13th place finisher, close to the money and final table threshold but no (http://www.fatbuddhacigars.com/pictures/cig+smoke.jpg) for the "Doc"... Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: TightEnd on November 23, 2007, 06:57:05 PM There has just been an interesting hand on Micky Wernick's table. Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: JungleCat03 on November 23, 2007, 07:02:28 PM Micky Wernick looks to have staged a mini recovery and is now sitting on 22k or so, still under a fair bit of pressure with the blinds at 1.5k 3k...
I join the other table, which is a pretty tough one as it has Martyn (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270) Cavanagh (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270), Harpit Gurnham, Surinder (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=422) Sunar (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=422), Marc (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) Goodwin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257), Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) Colclough (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) and Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=326) Jackson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=326) on it! Harpit completes... The flop comes 4s 5d 8c, which elicits a bet of 5k from Harpit. Surinder passes and Martyn minimum raises to 10k... Harpit checks his cards again, dwells a while and ultimately folds an 8 face up. Martyn (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270) Cavanagh (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270) shows a trickily played K-K... Some astonishing results online and live the last week. Respect big fella. Geo Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: danafish on November 23, 2007, 07:30:07 PM Martyn Cavanagh is shouting. "Hey blondepoker! [it is my name] Dave Colclough's all in!" I rush over. "Oh, it's ok, he's folded," says Martyn, as Marc Goodwin is folding what appears to be A-T. I think Dave shows some kind of Queen, probably A-Q or Q-Q?
Meanwhile, Mickey's getting impatient. "We got a private room booked at the Rocket Club tonight, boys, all sorted. All you gotta do is let me win the tournament." Then, five minutes later: "Shall we have five and a half grand apiece and go to the Rocket Club?" I want to see the Rocket Club... Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: JungleCat03 on November 23, 2007, 07:36:13 PM Paul Jackson's table has a fair bit of banter floating around on it. On Dave Colclough's big blind, he says "Don't leave me alone with him!" - a reference to the big stack of Marc Goodwin in the small blind. Surinder limps on the button as requested by Dave.... "THANKS!", and Marc completes from the small blind.
The flop comes 3d 9s 5d. Dave bets out 4k and both Surinder and Marc go away, allowing him to pick up the pot... Next hand , Surinder limps again from the cut off with a 25k stack on Paul Jackson's big blind, Dave Colclough completes and now Paul Jackson raises an extra 20k, which is most of Surinder's stack... Surinder goes into the tank for so long, he is feared drowned and Dave ultimately calls the clock on him. With about 10 seconds of the minute clock remaining, Surinder calls the clock on himself much to the table's amusement!...before passing...Dave also passes and Actionjack picks up the final hand before the buffet break. Players are now on a 30 minute break, grabbing some well earned refreshments from the buffet before they resume on 2k 4k. Just a reminder, 12 players remain and the average stack is 86,000. Marc Goodwin remains the chip leader. Seeyou shortly! No Rocket Clubbing yet, sadly, but Mr Dave Colclough spent his dinner break nipping across to the cinema and coming back with a big tub of Revels. I had two, and they were both caramel. Score! I'm wondering whether I can talk Snoopy into running over there and bringing back popcorn for the final... Play is resuming any second. First off , Surinder Sunar, who only had about 22k or so is OUT! I don't have his exit details as he was out so sharpish...possibly some sort of KT push was called by AJ in the blinds and the flop came K-x-T-x-Q. Sick river. But as we know imaginary poker hands are rigged folks... On Micky Wernick's table, Clive Padden just pushed allin for 32k or so and was called by Zafar Mirza for most of his chips. Clive was no doubt very releived to see he had two overs for his Js 9s against Mirza's 8-8 A board of Ts 2c 5h 9c 3c ensued, meaning Clive took down the 65k+ pot with his pair of 9s, whilst Mirza's bad coin-flippery left him very short. The next hand Rob Reese raised to 9k and Mirza was allin from the small blind, holding Jh 7h. Everyone else passed and Rob's A-Q emerged victorious on a 8-2-8-3-Q board... 10 left now with 9 paid, which means boys and girls it is BUBBLE TIME!!! (http://www.clock-desktop.com/screens/bubble_clock/bubble-clock.jpg) Good luck everyone! "What do you have?" wonders Dave. "A three?" He dwells up for aaaages. Then calls. His 2d 2h is ahead, and Jackson mucks. "That's got to be the worst bluff I've ever seen," says Dave. "Absolutely pathetic."

As Micky Wernick said "It's not about the money, it's about pride now boys!" and the muted murmurs of assent from his tablemates suggested they generally seemed to agree with him... A fast start has been had by Paul Jackson. It seemed Marc Goodwin had raised UTG, and Paul shoved over the top for his 55k or so, CALLED by Marc... It was hard to make out the hands from my position but I think it was something like JJ or QQ for Marc and A-K for Paul. The flop of K-T-T-9-6 was good for Paul anyway, so he doubled up to over 110k whilst Marc, the chip leader at the start of the final, strains to hold back a grimace as he sees a big chunk bitten out of his stack. "Typical" he says glumly... There is 13 minutes left of the 2k 4k level before 3k 6k kicks in. The average stack is 114,700... Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: JungleCat03 on November 23, 2007, 09:12:26 PM On Micky Wernick's big blind, Dave Colclough limped, as did Action Jack. Marc Goodwin completed from the small blind and Micky checked, taking us four ways to the flop with 16k in the pot.
The flop came Js 9c 2d, checked round to Paul Jackson, who said "I really ought to bet here" and appeared to tap the table. The dealer moved to deal the turn but Paul said "woooah, I haven't bet yet!" "You checked the table!" countered Colclough "If you try and bet I want a ruling...", "OK I check then" said Paul laughing... The turn was the 4h. Marc checked, now Micky fired out 20k from the blinds. Dave folded, as did Paul... Marc now stared at his chips and at Micky with a serious look on his face. "I'm allin" Micky folded quickly showing A-5... "You saved me there Dave!" said Paul Jackson. "I wasn't getting a bet past Marc ..." Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: JungleCat03 on November 23, 2007, 09:21:47 PM Micky Wernick was just allin!
Down to a mere 22k, he pushed from early position, all passed to Koumi in the big blind and with the blinds at 3k 6k, Joseph Koumi said "I'll give you a spin" and called with the suited Kh 9h. Micky showed As-Qd. The flop was good for Micky coming Ah-Qc-Js-9s-Ac to give him a spiffing full house and simultaneously double him up to a slightly more respectable 46k or so...You can never write off that man... Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: JungleCat03 on November 23, 2007, 09:40:27 PM In between hands, to help liven things up, Dave Colclough and Marc Goodwin have been playing a game. It invovles Marc Goodwin launching maltesers from one side of the table to the other, trying to land them in Dave Colclough's mouth.
A moment ago he threw one at Dave, who had his mouth wide open. The malteser was launched with some force but whistled by Dave's head like a bullet. "one more go, one more go" pleaded Marc, and Dave reluctantly agreed. The next malteser was launched like an exocet and struck Dave firmly on the forehead with a loud POP sound. As Dave reeled back clutching his temple, Marc giggled away..."Ok, I admit I did that one on purpose!!" Away from the confectionary capers, an interesting hand has been played out. Martyn Cavanagh raised to 16k from early position and found the fairly quiet Rob Reece reraising another 40k... ...Amazingly Harpit "Rana" now dwelled for some time, debating whether to play! Marc commented, "we need one of those countdown clocks" and began using his arm as a 30 second timer. Eventually Harpit folded and Martyn also folded. Martyn claimed A-K which Harpit claimed also. Rob told them he had a big pair. At this point, Actionjack claimed T-T and Marc claimed he folded Queens, although I think they may have been jesting at all the claims of big hands from the players yet no shows... They both check the 8d turn. The river is the 3c, and Jelinek checks again, but Martyn bets a big old 35k. After considerable dwellage, Steve calls. "House," announces Martyn, and turns over 3h Kc. Every so often the short stacked Mickey pushes (as he did a moment ago) and he is either called and doubles up....or everyone passes and he collects the blinds( as he did a moment ago) Dave Colclough stood up from the table in frustration "Everyone's too good! We need someone to crack up!" It's funny, there are similarities with the Bristol final of a few weeks ago, which had an ultra strong final table, which led to play being somewhat slow and tiring due to the lack of errors of the players... Here is similar, although there is quite a lot of banter and micky taking happening, to keep everyone awake. Just as a period of calm seemed to prevail, Mickey Wernick is ALLIN once again... He had 4d 4c and went searching for a double up but ran into Ac As. The flop seemed like it had killed him, once his opponent hit a set on a Ad Kd 9s board but the 8d turn gave him hope and outs in the form of a flush draw.... ..BUT the river bricked out, meaning... Mickey Wernick is OUT, eliminated in 9th spot, winning £1,610 Well played Mickey...another final table appearance for the Legend of poker Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: danafish on November 23, 2007, 10:09:34 PM Could u tell me if there any cash games going on? Allegedly they got in on the flop, with Dave holding 10 outs which he hit...
"Just because you're blonde updaters, don't do him any favours!" said Marc. "Tell it how it is - don't pull your punches!" Here is a pictorial representation of what Marc was saying... "Dave is a ...." (http://www.dumbphotos.com/images/Wow/284-bigcatfish.jpg) This is how the hand played out. DC raised to 20k and Marc called. The flop came down Td 9s 7s DC bet out 25k, and Marc moved allin. Dave called showing Jh Qc and Marc the nut flush draw with As 4s... The turn was the 3h and the river Kc made the nut straight for Dave, winning a monster pot, likely to have been in the 400k region with 1 million chips in play... Marc "FFS you're so lucky" Dave, with a broad grin....."I had so many outs! Move the trophy over here a bit!" and the trophy is passed towards his bulging stack... In Marc (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) Goodwin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) raises and Martyn (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270) Cavanagh (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=270) moves over the top allin. Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) Colclough (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) moves in behind him. Marc folds, leaving Dave showing A-Q and Martyn showing T-T. The flop came with an Ace and one more Ace on the river gave Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) Colclough (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) trips, a big pot, a big smile and means... Martyn Cavanagh is OUT, eliminated in 4th place, winning £6,000. A few hands later, Marc and Dave get it in preflop. Marc is holding 7-7 and Dave the dominating 8-8. Board - 9-9-3-3-uh-oh-7! "You don't realise how many outs I had" says Marc, needling Dave by mimicking his defence for calling with his draw earlier! "Now pass me that trophy!" Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: JungleCat03 on November 24, 2007, 12:21:48 AM Short stacked after Marc's 7s got there, Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) Colclough (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) now raised allin with Kh Js, only to find Marc (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) Goodwin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) with Aces for the forty seventh time.
No shocks on the flop meant we lose El Blondie. Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) Colclough (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) is OUT, eliminated in 3rd place, winning £8,260 Dave continues his excellent run, with yet another strong finish and decent payday. Good job sir. So that left Marc and Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=326) Jackson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=326) heads up playing for the trophy. They swapped a few chips before the much shorter stacked Paul moved allin, receiving an instant call from Marc, who found a big pair once more in J-J. Paul was less well equipped for battle though, holding the inferior and dominated Qs 6s. A flop of 7c 8d 9c gave hm some hope, and a Qh and 2d on the river sealed the outdraw, doubling him up..."I feel deflated" said Marc. "Need to get my wind back up..." A few more pots were played with Marc making a small inroad into Paul's stack before Marc raised and Paul moved allin. Marc called quickly, and Paul proudly showed off his 5c 5d, but his smile disappeared as Marc tabled 6h 6s A quite amazing flop came. First card was the 5h ....swiftly followed by the.... 6d ! Both players had flopped a set in the first two cards, which was bad news for Actionjack as he now only had one out. The rest of the board didn't improve either player, meaning Marc's set of sixes were good for the pot, which meant... Paul (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=326) Jackson (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=326) is OUT, eliminated in 2nd place, winning £14,180 A great performance from Actionjack, hanging in right to the finish. Top plodding! And this means... Marc (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) Goodwin (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=257) is the CHAMPION of the Midlands Masters £750 double chance freezeout, winning £23,210 and the lovely precious trophy! Excellent work, very well played, and no mean feat despatching a very strong field. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! ;first; ;woohoo; ;woohoo; ;first; Well played everyone who took part. Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: ifm on November 24, 2007, 02:03:01 AM The final is playing out at a relatively slow pace... Every so often the short stacked Mickey pushes (as he did a moment ago) and he is either called and doubles up....or everyone passes and he collects the blinds( as he did a moment ago) Dave (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) Colclough (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=95) stood up from the table in frustration "Everyone's too good! Just as a period of calm seemed to prevail, Mickey (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) Wernick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) is ALLIN once again... Mickey (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) Wernick (http://www.blondepoker.com/blondepedia/blondepedia_view_player.php?player_id=283) is OUT, eliminated in 9th spot, winning £1,610 Well played Mickey...another final table appearance for the worm of poker Title: Re: Grosvenor Midlands Masters FINAL DAY: Interactive Post by: danafish on November 24, 2007, 03:39:36 AM Yes yes, apologies, the wifi I'd been leeching off for two days decided to throw me off about half an hour before the end of the tournament, which was just fantastic.
