A gent who we believe is Clive Padden raises, only for Paul Jackson to reraise. An all-in call from Chili, with extra added hysterical giggling, and a fold from Padden later, and they're on their backs. As it were.

Also now OUT is Mr Thomas Dunwoodie - all in with pocket Eights against Mohammed Hussain's K-6, I think preflop, he sort of got unlucky, but with only 6k coming back today he would have needed some kind of miracle to make any real progress.

Paul Jackson is having a good old banter with his table.

After resuming to finish the last remnents of the 600 1200 level this morning, the blinds have escalated onto 800 1600 and thieving has become an important skill...

Paul Jackson tries his hand at it by raising to 4k or so from late position. The short stacked Arulmaran Sivaguru debates whether or not to reraise. "Make some noises like a girl and fold" suggest Paul, before Arulmaran folds (sans girly noises) what he says is K-Q.

"Oh, good fold. I had you in bad shape" CLAIMS Actionjack.

"I don't like to go allin without a hand" CLAIMS Arulmaran before shoving his 12k stack the next hand when it is passed unopened to him. "He's your bitch" Paul Jackson tells the big blind jovially...

Martyn Cavanagh has certainly been prospering today and his stack appears to have risen to 60k or so from his initial start of 18k.

I see him play two hands while I am at his table.

Firstly he calls a bet on a Jh 3h 8s 2s turn and on the river 9c he and his opponent both check.

Martyn's sixes are good versus the A-5 of his opponent. WP sir.

Next hand Martyn raises it up and is called from the blinds by the table chippie Anthony Nicholls...

The flop comes Kd 7c 5s. Anthony checks, Martyn bets 4.5k or so and Anthony calls.

The turn is the Td and the river the 9h and both these streets are checked by both players.

Martyn tables a winning, cautiously played K-Q whilst Anthony shows a no good pair of 6s. The welshman's stack grows ever larger...

Marc Goodwin still has plenty of chips and has arranged his stack into a quite pretty looking, intricately interlaced tower. Not quite at the level of some of Carlos Mortensen's magnificent creations, nonetheless he gets a B for effort. I'll see if I cna grab a shot of this shortly.

A not-massively-explosive hand between Surinder Sunar and Dave Colclough. Surinder raises under the gun and Dave calls from sort of mid position. The flop comes down Ac Td 9s and Surinder bets 6.5k. Dave folds. I'd sort of like to know what he had. In my mind he had Kings. He probably didn't have Kings. He might have had Kings. There has just been an interesting hand on Micky Wernick's table.

Micky raised to 5k, which Red-Dog now called, but it was re-popped behind by (i think) Clive Padden to 15k.

Micky passed after a bit of thought and equally Red Dog passed, showing J-J...

Clive showed K-K and Micky apparently passed Q-Q!!!

Big pairs all round, well played all round. It's funny, in Waterford, with a deeper average stack, that hand would have almost certainly resulted in 3 allins but here, both Micky and Red Dog got away from their big pairs...No easy chips on THAT table...

The players are on a break of 5 minutes or so before they resume on the 1k 2k level...

Tony Nicholls raises to 4k, Martyn Cavanagh calls. A shortstack who we believe is Jujihar "Carson" Reehal (apologies, didn't snap him and now it's too late) also calls. Steve Jelinek now makes it 14k. Martyn Cavanagh folds but both Nicholls and Carson call the extra 10k.

The flop comes 5s 5d 3d and Carson is all in for change. Jelinek calls the change, but Nicholls insta-folds. "You're not even going to think about calling?" protests Jelinek.

An incredibly shortstacked Doc Sivaguru was just now all in holding Jh 6h to Mickey Wernick's Kh Qh.

"Don't do anything silly," says Mickey, as the dealer deals out the  Aspades 5s 3c flop. "Nothing silly now as the 9s turn hits the felt.

There are now 17 remaining players and the average is 60,700. The 1k 2k blinds are likely to take a heavy toll on the small to medium stacks whilst play is likely to tighten up as we approach the bubble.

Who will grasp the nettle and start to dominate is the question...

Whoever it is will be hoping that this doesn't happen...

Oddly, according to Chambers, gurn is actually spelt girn.

Micky Wernick has just played out a big pot with Arulman Sivaguru.

Arulman who has nursed his short stack throughout today had about 22k at the start of the hand.

He raised to 5.5k in late position and Micky scratched his beard several times before moving his single tower of chips totalling about 32k over the line...

Arulman had a long think "I don't think I can pass here..." and eventually called with 9s 9d.

"I'm happy with that" said Micky, showing Ks Js.

The flop came Qh 8s 6c 6g Ac though, providing Arulman with a much needed double up and leaving Mr Wernick looking pretty short.

Now on 1.5k, 3k, Arulman Sivaguru has just played out a big pot with Steve Jelinek.

Martyn Cavanagh is shouting. "Hey blondepoker! [it is my name] Dave Colclough's all in!" I rush over. "Oh, it's ok, he's folded," says Martyn, as Marc Goodwin is folding what appears to be A-T. I think Dave shows some kind of Queen, probably A-Q or Q-Q?

Meanwhile, Mickey's getting impatient. "We got a private room booked at the Rocket Club tonight, boys, all sorted. All you gotta do is let me win the tournament." Then, five minutes later: "Shall we have five and a half grand apiece and go to the Rocket Club?" I want to see the Rocket Club...

Paul Jackson's table has a fair bit of banter floating around on it. On Dave Colclough's big blind, he says "Don't leave me alone with him!" - a reference to the big stack of Marc Goodwin in the small blind. Surinder limps on the button as requested by Dave.... "THANKS!", and Marc completes from the small blind.

The flop comes 3d 9s 5d. Dave bets out 4k and both Surinder and Marc go away, allowing him to pick up the pot...

Next hand , Surinder limps again from the cut off with a 25k stack on Paul Jackson's big blind, Dave Colclough completes and now Paul Jackson raises an extra 20k, which is most of Surinder's stack...

Surinder goes into the tank for so long, he is feared drowned and Dave ultimately calls the clock on him. With about 10 seconds of the minute clock remaining, Surinder calls the clock on himself much to the table's amusement!...before passing...Dave also passes and Actionjack picks up the final hand before the buffet break.

RED DOG  had the same meal on Wednesday night and there were a few baked bean jokes flying around whilst he tucked into his scram. Obviously helps him go deep in these events by sticking to the same diet.

Exciting news of eliminations!

First off , Surinder Sunar, who only had about 22k or so is OUT!

I don't have his exit details as he was out so sharpish...possibly some sort of KT push was called by AJ in the blinds and the flop came K-x-T-x-Q. Sick river. But as we know imaginary poker hands are rigged folks...

On Micky Wernick's table, Clive Padden just pushed allin for 32k or so and was called by Zafar Mirza for most of his chips.

Clive was no doubt very releived to see he had two overs for his Js 9s against Mirza's 8-8

A board of Ts 2c 5h 9c 3c ensued, meaning Clive took down the 65k+ pot with his pair of 9s, whilst Mirza's bad coin-flippery left him very short.

The next hand Rob Reese raised to 9k and Mirza was allin from the small blind, holding Jh 7h. Everyone else passed and Rob's A-Q emerged victorious on a 8-2-8-3-Q board...

What a strong line up there is for the final, which was not massively suprising, given the strength in depth throughout the field.

As Micky Wernick said "It's not about the money, it's about pride now boys!" and the muted murmurs of assent from his tablemates suggested they generally seemed to agree with him...

A fast start has been had by Paul Jackson.  It seemed Marc Goodwin had raised UTG, and Paul shoved over the top for his 55k or so, CALLED by Marc...

It was hard to make out the hands from my position but I think it was something like JJ or QQ for Marc and A-K for Paul.

The flop of K-T-T-9-6 was good for Paul anyway, so he doubled up to over 110k whilst Marc, the chip leader at the start of the final, strains to hold back a grimace as he sees a big chunk bitten out of his stack. "Typical" he says glumly...

On Micky Wernick's big blind, Dave Colclough limped, as did Action Jack. Marc Goodwin completed from the small blind and Micky checked, taking us four ways to the flop with 16k in the pot.

The flop came Js 9c 2d, checked round to Paul Jackson, who said "I really ought to bet here" and appeared to tap the table. The dealer moved to deal the turn but Paul said "woooah, I haven't bet yet!" "You checked the table!" countered Colclough "If you try and bet I want a ruling...", "OK I check then" said Paul laughing...

The turn was the 4h.

Marc checked, now Micky fired out 20k from the blinds. Dave folded, as did Paul...

Marc now stared at his chips and at Micky with a serious look on his face. "I'm allin"

Micky Wernick was just allin!

Down to a mere 22k, he pushed from early position, all passed to Koumi in the big blind and with the blinds at 3k 6k, Joseph Koumi said "I'll give you a spin" and called with the suited Kh 9h. Micky showed As-Qd.

The flop was good for Micky coming Ah-Qc-Js-9s-Ac to give him a spiffing full house and simultaneously double him up to a slightly more respectable 46k or so...You can never write off that man...

In between hands, to help liven things up, Dave Colclough and Marc Goodwin have been playing a game. It invovles Marc Goodwin launching maltesers from one side of the table to the other, trying to land them in Dave Colclough's mouth.

A moment ago he threw one at Dave, who had his mouth wide open. The malteser was launched with some force but whistled by Dave's head like a bullet. "one more go, one more go" pleaded Marc, and Dave reluctantly agreed. The next malteser was launched like an exocet and struck Dave firmly on the forehead with a loud POP sound. As Dave reeled back clutching his temple, Marc giggled away..."Ok, I admit I did that one on purpose!!"

Away from the confectionary capers, an interesting hand has been played out. Martyn Cavanagh raised to 16k from early position and found the fairly quiet Rob Reece reraising another 40k...

...Amazingly Harpit "Rana" now dwelled for some time, debating whether to play! Marc commented, "we need one of those countdown clocks" and began using his arm as a 30 second timer.

Eventually Harpit folded and Martyn also folded. Martyn claimed A-K which Harpit claimed also. Rob told them he had a big pair. At this point, Actionjack claimed T-T and Marc claimed he folded Queens, although I think they may have been jesting at all the claims of big hands from the players yet no shows...

On an  Aspades 3d Kd flop, one of Steve Jelinek and Martyn Cavanagh bets 12k, and the other calls.

They both check the 8d turn. The river is the 3c, and Jelinek checks again, but Martyn bets a big old 35k. After considerable dwellage, Steve calls. "House," announces Martyn, and turns over 3h Kc. A disappointed Jelinek shows the  Ahrt.

It's funny, there are similarities with the Bristol final of a few weeks ago, which had an ultra strong final table, which led to play being somewhat slow and tiring due to the lack of errors of the players...
