Title: Xmas tree Post by: The_duke on November 23, 2007, 08:39:00 PM OK its an age old question -- but if you do have a christmas tree in your home when do you put it up.
Do you stay traditional and put it up on Xmas eve and leave it up for 12 days Do you put it up 1st december and take it down 1st Jan Do you put it up anytime you feel like it and take it down on little xmas (6th Jan) Or do you not bother -- Bah Humbug Title: Re: Xmas tree Post by: charmaine on November 23, 2007, 08:55:04 PM We were walking to school last week and saw people putting decorations up outside there house ;gobsmacked;
I try to leave it as long as possible , hopefully wont be putting anything up until around 2nd week of December . When we were young Mum put the tree up 12 days before and took it all down 12 days after . :) Title: Re: Xmas tree Post by: Geo the Sarge on November 23, 2007, 08:55:19 PM In our family, tradition has always been 12 days before, then take down 12 days after.

Living on my own I started off in a similar vein but to be honest I can't be arsed now so I'm afraid it's 'Bah, Humbug' for me.

Do you have Xmas lights/sleighs/inflatable snowmen outside the front of your abode in December? Vote "yes" for "what a pillock" Vote "no" for "I retain my sanity" Title: Re: Xmas tree Post by: Dewi_cool on November 23, 2007, 11:20:54 PM We were walking to school last week and saw people putting decorations up outside there house ;gobsmacked; I try to leave it as long as possible , hopefully wont be putting anything up until around 2nd week of December . So it's ready for me to throw at Kinboshi when he makes some uber-fishy play at the pre-APAT poker night. Title: Re: Xmas tree Post by: K9sixtwo on November 24, 2007, 04:04:11 PM I believe Homebase do a lovely line in 9 or ten foot tall Homer Simpson wearing a "festive" hat that inflates and anchors on your front Garden.... Ideal for making a statement of "I love Jeremy Kyle" and "My IQ is the same as my Shoe size"
Also on sale in Homebase....Ideal for sorting out Homer......Stanley Knifes... Title: Re: Xmas tree Post by: Laxie on November 24, 2007, 04:17:23 PM Our decorations/tree go up no later than 2 weeks before Christmas and stay put until Jan 7th. Not sure about the rest of Ireland, but in Cork, Jan 6th is 'Women's Christmas'. We lounge around all day and then head out for dinner with friends in the evening. Pub crawl follows the dinner. It's like one huge hen night and the lads stay out of the way.

In a drunken stupor the Duke is likely to track down a LIVE Reindeer and perch it on his roof. Atleast it would give Kinboshi something to do after he gets kncoked out first at the game ;)..a little exotic christmas treat for Welshie! Title: Re: Xmas tree Post by: The_duke on November 26, 2007, 03:52:50 PM Just a thought about the reindeer.....
The story about Rudolph is about a young reindeer who, because of a physical deformity, is treated as an outcast by the other reindeer. Then along comes good, old Santa. Does he ignore the deformity? Does he look past Rudolph's nose and respect Rudolph for the sensitive reindeer he is underneath? No. Santa asks Rudolph to guide his sleigh, as if Rudolph were nothing more than some kind of headlight with legs and a tail. Therefore no outside decorations, no inflatable do da's, I might just run to an artificial tree in the spare room so the dog has something to cock his leg at......... Then all the reindeer's loved him If Santa had been all well meaning PC about it, they'd still be laughing and calling him names today. What worries me about the whole thing is that Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Donner and Blitzen are all a bunch of assholes and or kebabs.
