Title: Pull the trigger? Luton tournie. Post by: AlexMartin on November 25, 2007, 05:49:03 AM Hero is near the bubble of a £75 FO. 12 players left with 40k in chips @ 1000/2000 200 level. Image is pretty good, shown down nothing but premium and few players present who know his game.
Hero opens for 6k with Aspades Th in hijack. Is called in 2 spots, button 25k (unknown older chap, prolly fairly tight) and Big blind "pep" who has just played big pot with hero and has roughly 60k. "pep" is not scared to play marginal hands, plays poker and can fold a hand. Can also map betting relatively well. Flop Ks Jh 3h. BB checks, hero deliberates then checks, button checks quickly. Turn 3s. BB leads out with what appears to be a weak feeler bet of 8k into 22kish. Action on hero. Ended up folding but believe this was a superb (missed) opportunity to pull of a big bluff. Lol Alex Martin = English Jamie Gold Seriously i think you played it fine. Title: Re: Pull the trigger? Luton tournie. Post by: AlexMartin on November 25, 2007, 01:03:01 PM Maybe i should elaborate on the hand a little as responses are not forthcoming. Oppo is a good hand reader, his bet on the turn cannot represent any hand that can call a push in my honest opinion. JJ and KK he re-raises me with preflop with his stack. He doesnt bet quads. Only possible hand that he can call a shove with is KJ. He knows i will slowplay made hands on dodgy boards so i think pushing here has a high success rate. Factor in the size of the pot and the ability to flex that stack on the final and it only really has to work 1/2 the time to make it near optimal.
Title: Re: Pull the trigger? Luton tournie. Post by: TightEnd on November 25, 2007, 01:07:10 PM wouldn't you have bet any hand that beat's Pep's on the flop, and given the brick turn changes little you've missed your chance?
I know you say you slow-play, but would you have done here against two players? I see Pep make thin calls far more often than solid folds. Just mho Title: Re: Pull the trigger? Luton tournie. Post by: celtic on November 26, 2007, 06:48:06 PM Yeah i agree with richard. Fold is the right option here. Pepe isnt folding to a rr here. He will think his AJ ? KJ is good as he woulnt be afraid of the 3. Who knows with Pepe it may have even helped his hand ;). He is a decent player and picked the game up quick but has made some strange calls against me & other as he tends to non believe rather than believe IMO.

Luton tournie. Post by: M3boy on November 28, 2007, 09:32:34 AM This is very player dependent.
Against "pep" I would not make a move here. He tends not to fold too often. |
