Title: Re: Alex McLeish new Birmingham boss.... Post by: celtic on November 28, 2007, 01:55:34 AM I think whats been missed here is that McLeish is chasing the premiership buck. 1st opportunity to jump ship and he took it. He was quick to accept it with all the 'i'm so proud to be national team manager blah blah' when he was on the dole. No disrepect to Birmingham, who are a big club, but what does he hope to acheive with them?
Title: Re: Alex McLeish new Birmingham boss.... Post by: fergus8 on November 28, 2007, 02:08:20 AM i think its a bit unfair, sfa are well known penny pinchers, but i think mcleish has always said he wanted to go prem since leaving rangers.
no offers came in from the prem so he waited, then scotland came up, he did well/lucky , and his stock has never been higher, so good luck to him. i dont think he is a good manager, hes ok, but he is better than bruce. First thoughts appalled, Jewell would've been a better candidate. The board have a habit of going for managers with no proven record to speak of but having huge faith in them once there, this has not been the best strategy but i think this time Carson Yeung may be less patient if he ever completes the takeover. So even though i'm disappointed i think it makes little difference right now, the good thing for blues is that there are 3 teams worse than us in the Prem so relegation i not something i'm at all worried about so we don't need a saviour like Derby just yet. Though i have probably just jinxed us. Title: Re: Alex McLeish new Birmingham boss.... "Jewell would've been a better candidate" I did not say he had a proven record, i just think out of all those allegedly considered (and those that would even consider the job) Jewell would have been mine and probably most of the fans choice before Mcleish. Nothing to with nationalities, i'd even have a German if he was he best available!! Title: Re: Alex McLeish new Birmingham boss.... Post by: Bazzaboy on December 02, 2007, 05:56:49 PM Not a bad start
