Title: Battrick OD 30/11
Post by: Bongo on November 30, 2007, 11:21:29 AM
I changed my bowling tactics in the hope of getting more early wickets. It seems to have worked out ok:

End of Over 12: 40-4, runrate=3.33

Although they were 25-4 and I haven't taken one in a while, still more good bowlers to come :)

I'm playing a bot who had been rendered useless in first half of season but are now dangerous due to the changes.  They have  125k and 88k players in their ranks.  They also beat the side below me in the league last week so I'm expecting a tricky match.  I've made a decent start though, keeping tabs on their run rate on a hard and fast pitch

End of Over 25: 116-1, runrate=4.64
Talamini 3-0-5-0
Calderwood* 28 (44 balls)
Dayton 57 (57 balls)

Last Wicket: Parkin lbw b. Ewart 25 (FOW: 72/1)

Best of luck mate - just hope his stars aren't bowlers, they are hard to dodge!

End of Over 30: 101-7, runrate=3.37

I'm still bowling nicely on a H&F pitch!

i am playing the 2nd best team in my league

but unlike the best team they want to promote and are leading the league

i had them at 5-2 but they have recovered to a dominating 166-2 after 30

TY  mate.  Thankfully they are both batsmen (one of them batting at 6) so I have a chance, although the rest of his side aren't exactly poor lol.  No real idea as to what sort of total I will be able to chase but don't fancy my chances of anything over 300 so need a good last 10 overs

End of Over 40: 207-3, runrate=5.18
Ewart 10-0-49-2
Heggett* 2 (7 balls)
Dayton 122 (102 balls)

Last Wicket: Elliot lbw b. Wardley 4 (FOW: 179/3)

Well I've bowled them out:

End of Over 42: 134-10, runrate=3.19
Hall 8-1-23-4

Hall's best analysis ever in a OD game, so maybe he's finally going to come good and start taking some wickets, like a destructive fast bowler should!

Down to the batsmen now.  I figured their batsmen would get runs on any pitch, so opted for a hard and fast pitch to give my batsmen the best opportunity of getting runs as well.  I kept them under 300 but no idea if i'm capable of chasing this down.  I guess I will find out soon enough

End of Over 50: 293-5, runrate=5.86
Talamini 10-0-64-1
Flowers* 13 (11 balls)
King 21 (12 balls)

Last Wicket: Dayton b. Capp 134 (FOW: 259/5)

EDIT

Nice start

0.1 W Murray to Hadland
The Murray-King combination works wonders again. Short of a length, edged and safely taken behind the stumps.

Big game for the monkeys today as playing a team only 4 points behind us in the league but they occupy one of the relegation play off places whereas i currently lie in third. He has the better squad on paper but my first team are all fully fit while he has some PFL issues. Things were going well

End of Over 41: 284-0, runrate=6.93
Guruge 6-0-61-0
Abel* 129 (123 balls)
Kirkland 142 (124 balls)

and so after last week's bok i decided to keep quiet.

Unfortunately both fell just short of 150 as neither could survive the last 10 over slogfest and so i finished up on

End of Over 50: 361-2, runrate=7.22
Brown 10-0-87-0
Mohammed* 33 (20 balls)
Tortoishell 33 (24 balls)

Again just short of my record total though the opening partnership of 291 may be a record. Hopefully this will be enough to see me to victory, get revenge for losing at their place earlier in the season and cement my position in the top half of the table and avoid a play off game at the end of the season :)

Some fellow Battrick fans. I like. What levels are we all in!? My team is called the "General Stars" and am currently leading my OD league. Managed to lose in my FC game this week and thus means that my likelyhood of finishing top in the FC league is now, pretty damn slim! That leaves me to try and win the remaining OD matches and finish in the top 32 automatic promotion spots!

Struggling a little against a team I beat twice last season that has now gone bot. I think the bot has a better grasp of tactics than the team's human manager ever did!  I am 112-3 off 23 chasing 188, but both Kerwin and Cohen are out so I have only comp or med batting to see me home and I only bat down to 7 today, so only have two wickets in hand really.

Should still win but not as comfortably as I would've liked.

Not looking good, runrate getting away from me and too many wickets down for my liking.

End of Over 25: 126-3, runrate=5.04, reqrunrate=6.72 (293-5)
Elliot 6-0-37-0
Morgan* 29 (38 balls)
Meyer 24 (30 balls)

Last Wicket: Conelly c. King b. Musgrove 40 (FOW: 84/3)

Title: Re: Battrick OD 30/11

We have a bot team like this in our division, one player with a rating of 185k and half a dozen players 40k+. First half of season he lost all 7 games with a nrr of over -45. Now he's won two on the bounce very easily and guess who i play next week :(

looking at the league he could well finish up with W7 L7 and stay in the division but then if he stays up he'll remain as a bot team wont he?

A decent 10overs has kept them in sight.  If I can keep rr under 7.5 going into the last 10 I will fancy my chances assuming I dont lose wickets.

End of Over 35: 191-3, runrate=5.46, reqrunrate=6.87 (293-5)
Grady 6-0-30-0
Meyer* 53 (63 balls)
Morgan 65 (65 balls)

Last Wicket: Conelly c. King b. Musgrove 40 (FOW: 84/3)

i am getting hammered

chasing 317-5 i am 206-9 with 8 overs left

Title: Re: Battrick OD 30/11
Post by: Bazzaboy on November 30, 2007, 04:26:35 PM
End of Over 42: 239-5, runrate=5.69, reqrunrate=6.87 (293-5)
Grady 9-0-57-1
Tau* 19 (13 balls)
Capp 3 (5 balls)

Last Wicket: Morgan lbw b. Lamb 80 (FOW: 231/5)

Lost both wickets which means one more wicket kills it.  Need these two to see me home.

Good luck mate!

I cruised to victory in 20.2 overs, should boost my NRR.

TY chaps

This helps :)

43.3 4 Grady to Capp
Wonderfully timed on drive, four runs!
43.2 4 Grady to Capp
Rocks back and pulls to deep backward square.
43.1 4 Grady to Capp
That shot oozes class. Smashed away by Capp to the cover boundary for four.

Currently

End of Over 44: 261-5, runrate=5.93, reqrunrate=5.50 (293-5)
Grady 10-0-71-1
Tau* 22 (17 balls)
Capp 22 (13 balls)

Last Wicket: Morgan lbw b. Lamb 80 (FOW: 231/5)

Title: Re: Battrick OD 30/11
Post by: Bazzaboy on November 30, 2007, 04:41:40 PM
It was looking good

End of Over 46: 277-5, runrate=6.02, reqrunrate=4.25 (293-5)
Murray 8-0-51-1
Tau* 28 (24 balls)
Capp 32 (18 balls)

Last Wicket: Morgan lbw b. Lamb 80 (FOW: 231/5)

Then disaster strikes

46.1 W Lamb to Tau
The batsman is struck on the back foot right in front of middle stump. Plumb LBW.

8-11 cannot bat.  Need to get Capp on strike and hope one of them hangs around.

Unfortuantely i already take part in a friendly league which currently has 6 or 7 divisions! It started off on a Southend United forum and has really grown within a big group of Southend fans. Even has its own forum, i tell you. However, i haven't been able to take too much part in it as i managed to reach the last 64 of the cup and got cruelly knocked out! Yeah i can tell some of you are a few years behind as you are all still lcuky enough to be facing bots!! Enjoy them!! You dont realise how good it is until you get a league when every team has a manager.

I managed a comfortable 8 wicket win today against the team joint 2nd in the league and i shouldn't drop any more points for the rest of the season.

Level 3 might be a bit too hard for my side though, unless a get an okay league!

End of Over 49: 291-7, runrate=5.94, reqrunrate=3.00 (293-5)
Lamb 10-0-48-2
Capp* 42 (25 balls)
Talamini 2 (7 balls)

Last Wicket: Ewart Run Out 2 (FOW: 279/7)

Good day for the Staples OD team

Away playing a BOT, with 2nd place away, also playing a BOT.

The 2nd team place amazingly lost, after conceding nearly 380 runs, wasn't really a surprise.

for some reason, I was on a GFI.. tho I'm sure I was on a TIE

I lost the toss and bowled... and we bowled excellently, 59AO in 32.2 overs, with my spinner taking 2-10 from 9.2 overs.

In reply the 60 runs needed, were knocked off in just 6 overs for the loss of 0 wickets.

Thats me promoted in FC, and needing 1 win out of 4 in the OD for a double promotion.

A unexpected win for me again this week - in your hands now Ram.

I managed to bat for 360 odd on my Slow pitch, and restricted them too 320.

However I sold out the ground this week, a development I had not expected this season.  An extra factor in the who too sell dilemma.
