Title: Battrick FC 4/12
Post by: divaflava on December 04, 2007, 12:47:49 PM
159-2 for my reserves at lunch, playing at home against the bottom of the league(a Newbie team put in div v). Bit of a test of the squad to see if they can get max bonus points but I expect them to manage it ok.

I'm playing the league leaders today, however they have left out their 2 best batsmen and only bat to 6.  My batting line up is pretty poor though so I'm not getting my hopes up.  I have however made a good start.  Just need a wicket or two to get into the tail and hopefully pick up max bowling points.

End of Over 35 (1 runs). Harefield: 116-3, runrate=3.31
Wardley 8-1-24-0
Lowe* 13 (17 balls)
Summerscales 58 (108 balls)

Last Wicket: Sabir c. Harris b. Talamini 6 (FOW: 84/3)

End of Over 35 (2 runs). Conclave Clusters: 54-4, runrate=1.54

Playing a newbie team at home, hope to bowl them out, hit 360 and bowl them out again by around lunch tomorrow.

Seems I got £70k for the 1st day, which is very nice!

Sneaked a secondbowling point in the last over.  Heres hoping my batsmen don't fold.

Finished the day 71/1.  Hopefully he doesn't change his bowling order and I get to face another 18overs or so against his worst two bowlers tomorrow, as his spinner is likely to rip my batting lineup to pieces.

I just don't get this game some days, but i love it.

I am playing by far this best team in my division, and after some good performances in the past few weeks I fancied my chances to get a draw.  I have 9 of my best 11 playing, all sublime, a bowlers pitch.  I log on this morning to find my opponents in a desperate PFL state which explains there recent poor form.

Despite all this they manage to race too 357/4 - Rudi then performs some magic to see them 379/9 at close so I might make the draw and 3 days play, but considering PFL and looking at his past weeks scores and performances I thought I should win this game, but now I expect him to bowl me cheaply tomorrow if he performs to the same standard.

Home vs a BOT. 40k in gate receipts :)

Only played 2 out of my usual top 6... scored 407-3 dec in 65 overs and have them 73-5 after 45 overs!

going for the 3 day win this time!

Bit of a nightmare first day away against a bot.

Admittedly I have been tinkering with lineup recently to improve certain players form but still enough quality there to win easily and all with sublime fitness.

However the bot with their lineup of fresh fitness and worthless form players scraped together 150 and then reduced my lineup to 133-5.   :redcard:

So big day today, one top batter still in but nil chance of maximum batting points with the long tail of the team.   :'(

I won easily - bowled them out for 25 today.

Have some pretty stonking bowling figures for the match!
Hallett 10-8-2-4
Lonergan 4.3-2-4-4
Hall 5-5-0-3

I'm doing ok.  Hopefully get some batting points in the bag and then look towards salvaging an unlikely draw.

End of Over 54 (5 runs). KBOTW: 177-3, runrate=3.28
Trail by 188 runs. (Harefield 365-6 dec)
Clinton 10-5-11-1
Beattie* 15 (19 balls)
Morgan 20 (55 balls)

Last Wicket: Hadland lbw b. Clinton 60 (FOW: 148/3)

Playing top of the table vs a team with a much better squad than my own who up until two weeks ago was unbeaten. Two weeks ago he lost to the team in 2nd (who has the best squad in league but has only just figured out the declaration bit!) and last week he surprisingly lost a close game against a team who were lucky to scrape a draw with me earlier in the season.

Closer inspection saw that his squad of 14 players is struggling now with PFL so with an entire squad of sublimes to choose from i chose my "a"-team in the hope that the PFL issue would even us up.......

The players are off the field for the change of innings.

End of Over 79 (7 runs). Matts Monkeys: 402-1, runrate=5.09
Lead by 198 runs. (Canvey CCC 204-10)
Wilson 19-0-121-0
Tortoishell* 12 (17 balls)
Abel 200 (257 balls)

Last Wicket: Kirkland b. Robert 182 (FOW: 354/1)

78.6 4 Wilson to Abel
Slower delivery and he manages to steer it past fine leg for a boundary.
A double century. Very good innings this.

Was disappointed to lose Kirkland towards the end, my two openers have scored nearly 1000 runs in the last two weeks and this was their third 250+ partnership in 4 games. Considering they are the only two players who have survived from the initial squad that i was given when i joined and neither has brilliant personal stats their contributions have been priceless :)

hopefully he can see out the end of today and i can get a third days gate receipts!!

hopefully he can see out the end of today and i can get a third days gate receipts!!

though i'm not holding my breath............

End of Over 10 (3 runs). Canvey CCC: 26-2, runrate=2.60 (1st Inn: 204-10)
Trail by 172 runs. (Matts Monkeys 402-1 dec)

he's lost his 72k and 18k openers already and still 62 overs left in the day - his 18k opener was the only one who scored in the first innings so this may be a short match :)

that gives me an extra days rest before i play a mighty bot team friday in which i may need to put out my full strength team again after all their PFL levels were set to "fresh" and they've started winning games :(

hopefully he can see out the end of today and i can get a third days gate receipts!!

Blimey i'll be lucky if the game lasts to the tea interval :'(

End of Over 30 (1 runs). Canvey CCC: 116-8, runrate=3.87 (1st Inn: 204-10)
Trail by 82 runs. (Matts Monkeys 402-1 dec)
Mercer 3-0-7-4
Salmon* 40 (45 balls)
Clement 0 (0 balls)

Last Wicket: Robert lbw b. Mercer 0 (FOW: 116/8)

29.6 W Mercer to Robert
Big appeal for LBW...and given! He doesn't seem to be happy with that decision. A big inside edge.
29.5 . Mercer to Robert
Mercer has his head in his hands! Just wide of off stump.
29.4 W Mercer to Watkins
That was a textbook shot by Watkins... sadly the textbook in question was 'Cricket for Beginners'... so that's OUT!
29.3 W Mercer to Wilson
Out! Wilson had so much time he can't believe it! Mercer is trying hard not to laugh...

A susprisingly good performance from my batsmen.  I didn't expect much prior to the match as I was thrashed in the earlier meeting between us.  Opponents have also won 9 of their 10 matches, drawing the other.  Whereas I have only managed victories against the bottom 2 sides in the league.  As it stands I'm on track to get max batting points and draw the match which would exceed my expectations.

The players are off the field for tea.

End of Over 89 (7 runs). KBOTW: 293-4, runrate=3.29
Trail by 72 runs. (Harefield 365-6 dec)
Patterson 23-4-68-2
Tau* 8 (6 balls)
Morgan 93 (156 balls)

Last Wicket: Beattie c. Sabir b. Patterson 47 (FOW: 284/4)

Winning easy. Got the max bonus points so willl still be top of the league (assuming I bowl them out again tomorrow)!

Go Bazza!

Decided not to enforce the follow on to gain an extra day's money.

bowled them out for 87, and at tea I'm 394-6.. which I'm quite disappointed with ( after 404-3 in the 1st). My mediocre/worthless bat is having a field day at no 7.. 48no from 29 balls, after taking 13-8-14-5 with the ball ( not bad for my usual no 5 bowler!!)

Hoping to bat till 2moro, and bowl them out then!

Oh what do I know!  ;sark;     Just got to tea....

End of Over 99 (1 runs). Athletico Foxy: 373-9, runrate=3.77
Lead by 223 runs. (lpjs 150-10)
Ledley 12-2-22-1
Riggott* 2 (30 balls)
Middleton 220 (250 balls)

Last Wicket: Mcleod lbw b. Clarke 1 (FOW: 359/9)

Not unexpected from the main batter but he's had top support from the "worthless" 7-11 tail too.   I did tweak all the lower order to "very defensive" overnight and it seems to have done the trick,  dogged isn't the word!  :D

 :dontask:

And that's the end of the match. Matts Monkeys won by an innings and 58 runs.

End of Over 36 (1 runs). Canvey CCC: 140-10, runrate=3.89 (1st Inn: 204-10)
Trail by 58 runs. (Matts Monkeys 402-1 dec)
Mercer 5-0-22-6

If i'd have known it was going to be that comfortable i'd have batted out all of day 2 to ensure a third days revenue and risked giving my opponent the chance of earning a bonus bowling point. :(

i might win my first ever FC match

he batted all day yesterday i got him all out for 303 in 110th over

i set a target of 400 to declare and ran it off in 61 overs

i now have him at 38-6 after 17

i removed my wicket keeper from bowling line up over night

only snag is i might miss out on a days gates by setting too low a declare target

If I manage to lose this game after my sick one day defeat I think I will tender my resignation :D

End of Over 129 (1 runs). KBOTW: 421-8, runrate=3.26
Lead by 56 runs. (Harefield 365-6 dec)
Patterson 34-5-90-4
Capp* 57 (86 balls)

Only the 3rd of my FC games to reach the 3rd day ( all by choice).. needing Staples all day to get the remaining 7 wickets to give them an 11-0.

30.1    W   Hyams to Hurdle
Awful shot and Hurdle pays the price. The ball wasn't short enough to pull, but Hurdle tried to, and instead dragged a huge bottom edge back into his stumps.

Good start.

Been a terrible day so far for the monkeys - can you believe the coach broke down on the way to the seaside following our 2 day demolition of the league leaders. Meant we arrived at the beach for a day of relaxation 1&1/2 hours late - and now its raining!! Must grumble :(

Good luck to all those still playing ;)

My match looks to be a stick on draw barring any extreme batting collapses.

I also managed to offload my underperforming batsman last night after he decided to put in probably his best ever innings (133) in the first innings ofthis match lol.
