Title: I never thought I'd say this
Post by: RED-DOG on December 06, 2007, 06:42:05 PM
It plucks at the very fabric of my belief system. After this, the whole thing could come unravelled. I might even find myself opening my mind to the possibility of things like UFOs, Yetis, and immaculate conceptions.

Quorn sausages are nice!!

I think they always were going to be 'alright', but that doesn't make it right, if you want sausages, your local butchers is the way to go :)

I've never tasted them (can't see the point), but I have had a chili made from quorn mince, and that was quite nice.  I'd still make it with beef every time though :D

Quorn is simply just a fungus-based meat substitute.. It wrong, really wrong, it contains allergens and tastes like cardboard. But we all have different tastes Thank God.......

Quorn is actually tasteless and absorbant so in order to bring out the taste of the other ingredients you need a lot of salt!! Therefore What you gain in beating colesterole you loose by having hi blood pressure.

Tom, please seek urgent medical advice, I fear that your taste buds have suffered from an infection which is impairing your senses.

only true test is to have both a Quorn banger and a proper banger on the same plate... taste them both and then report your findings.

I hope you get better soon mate.

Ive been vegetarian for 18 years now and only started eating quorn and soya in recent years. I made Sheppard's with quorn and not one meat eating person I've served it to has ever said anything negative about it. Its tasteless without sauce and doesn't need any salt if you get the flavours right. I'll bet nobody here could tell my Sheppard's pie wasn't made with beef.  Nobody has yet!

As for quorn sausages, Linda McCartney's are brilliant and so so tasty:) they are great with onion gravy and mash and i could have them every night. When i first started eating them, my body would have huge cravings for them. Its likely that i hadn't been getting enough protein for years and this was a full on top up:)

That's because Shepherds Pie is made with Lamb
Cottage pie is made with beef or at least it is in Lancashire

well in a survival scenario, i would consider distilling my own urine but i wouldn't see it as adventurous. As for reading, I get plenty in but I'm obv. not reading the same material as you.........

I was going to be clever and say that it is called Shepherds Pie for a reason, because it's made of Sheep.
But then I realised Cottage Pies aren't made of bricks....

Although some of my wifes cooking could be, she gave me a slice of gravy the other day.

She wormed her way into the hearts of Irish buffs (not to mention Kerry buffs) with her role in 'Ryan's Daughter'. But her life was far removed from the Kerry "cailin". Her affairs were legendary, she was accused and acquitted of murder, and she has drunk her own "pee" for over 30 years. As Barry Egan takes a voyage around Sarah Miles and the Dingle Peninsula, he finds little has changed

Disembarking The Blasket Princess, I realise that Miles has a dottily eccentric English charm that makes it impossible not to warm to her -- even when our chat turns to what she is most well-known for after acting. "On my tombstone will be engraved: One of the untouchables -- she drank her own pee," she told the New Statesman in 1998. "That's what all Indians do!" she harrumphs. "That's what Ghandi did. That's what Nero did! That's what everybody that I think looks fantastic in old age does! I thought: 'Well, if they all look that bloody good, I think I'll have a go!' It tastes like good beer. You take it mid-flow every evening and morning. You just swig it down. It tastes fine."

And for how many years have you been drinking your own urine, Sarah? "Thirty."

Try the QUORN turkey roast mate,  it tastes like real turkey.  I haven't eaten meat since I was about 10, but I have been reliably informed by a meat eater that it does taste like the real deal

They really are!!!

However I don't think of them as a substitute for meat sausages, rather as an additional option to make a change from any of the other varieties I might cook.

During filming of extreme makeover Dr Singh "So Jackie you skin is very soft, what do you do to help"

Jackie "I wash in my own piss every day, it saves on moisturiser"

It was a  ;booder; moment. No one knew quite what to make of it or her, we soon learnt this was the way it was going to be throughout filming!!
