I give up !!!!!!!!!! Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: Nem on October 25, 2005, 11:20:48 PM They have finally overstepped the mark with these "celebrity" heats - Its on Challenge at the moment and they have just introduced that MAKOSI >:? >:? from big brother I give up !!!!!!!!!! "Shes been playing for only 12 hours" Simply pathetic, the lowest moment in TV Poker. Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: -bw- on October 25, 2005, 11:26:00 PM Agreed
What makes these TV people think that people who play Poker want to watch z list celebrities play poker, its crap like this that stops me tuning in fullstop!! Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: snoopy1239 on October 26, 2005, 12:26:32 AM shameful.
what were they thinking? and why can't i turn the tv off!!! ~: Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: Pokerron on October 26, 2005, 09:46:59 AM Awful. The producers should be ashamed.
Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: Robert HM on October 26, 2005, 10:24:29 AM Don't turn it off just yet, I think we have a blonde qualifier in a later heat. watch this space.
Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: byronkincaid on October 26, 2005, 11:09:25 AM I played in Heat 7 I think, played against Barry Hearn and Ray Parlour anyway. Trouble is (I didn't see it last night) it's almost a dead cert that Makosi played better than me :-[
Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: Acidmouse on October 26, 2005, 11:46:42 AM I like watching celebs play poker, but only if they can actually play. It's boring and embaressing watching some of the play last night. They get taught the rules 10 mins before the show aired?
Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: ripple11 on October 26, 2005, 03:05:10 PM Last night was, by a million miles, the lowest point ever in TV Poker History. Whoever thought of inviting a Z list celeb. with no idea why she was there,(but given 90 mins training the day before!!!)......needs sacking!! Totally embarrassing....bet into every pot from the start and went out as as quick as it took her to walk up the Big Brother steps.....eg : raised with 6 2 off, bet on flop, turn , and all in on River......with not a sniff of pair, straight, flush, or cuddly toy....(and lost against trip 9s) The look on Michael Greco's face as all this was going on was a classic! Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: Junior Senior on October 26, 2005, 03:27:08 PM do not get me started on this! - it is quite simply pathetic - mind boggling pathetic. In the week where perhaps the best poker tournamanet for tv (the william hill Grand Prix) comes to its climax and we get this from 888.com
please..no more, i urge you, for the love of the game and the safety of tv screens all over britain. STOP IT Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: ACE2M on October 26, 2005, 03:30:36 PM Not saying anything new, just agreeing. Please please please stop this crap. At least the american celebs can play a little and i can't watch that.
Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: snoopy1239 on October 26, 2005, 11:01:32 PM I daren't watch tonight.
Although I'm keen to see how BAD the show is gonna be. I'm increasing their viewers. eeeeeek. Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: snoopy1239 on October 27, 2005, 12:08:24 AM Did I just hear right.
1/2 million 1st prize!!! And Makosi has been playing for 12 hours. Complete joke if you ask me. Tony G got very unlucky. Massive chip lead heads up and then just couldn't win a pot. Good viewing though.
Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: redsimon on November 04, 2005, 10:18:28 AM Did anybody watch Thursday's heat?
Any comments on the winners "style?" Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: byronkincaid on November 04, 2005, 11:19:59 AM Saw the last hour or so of that live, there's a lot of luck in tournament poker.
Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: redsimon on November 04, 2005, 12:04:32 PM I was just amazed he got away with limping so much. I cannot remember a preflop raise from him until he got AA heads up? He got people to pass better hands like the KK limp on the button, O'Dea has A4 in bb Flop Axx and Donnacha lays down to a bet on the turn 8). Other classics were JJ limp vs TT Flop King hi he calls turn bet checks river, TT guy gives up and shows TT he shows JJ and says "I thought you had a King?" :blonde:
All in all a strange heat. It could have been heads up 5 hands in if O'Dea had called wth As6s raiser had AQ matey boy 8s8c and another guy passed Ks9s. Flop Queen high all money in and matey boy hits runner runner flush :D Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: Robert HM on November 04, 2005, 12:15:26 PM I saw a bit of this prog, and most of that hand. How fate could have transpired to end a show so quickly?!
Now about this new avatar of yours Simon.... Title: Re: 888.com British open Post by: byronkincaid on November 05, 2005, 02:29:49 AM Although I was gutted to get knocked out of this I'm actually quite pleased with the way it came across on TV. I was going all in a lot because the blinds get big very quickly and they could have made me out to be some kind of all in one move only donkey. In fact they showed my stop n go and my what I've always thought of as the calley calley bluff move which I found out the other day is actually called the float play.
I am even more disappointed with my bust out hand, if I'd have known I was 2nd in chips I would never have reraised all in with A5o. What didn't come accross on telly was that Barry Hearn tried to raise to 45K (7/15K blinds) but was called up for a string bet and could only put in 30K. I would have passed to a 45K bet but with the mini bet leaving me some folding equity and a good chance he was steaing anyway I made the bad bad move. Not to worry though, just have to qualify for the next one.
