blonde poker forum

I bought in direct to the APAT with a friend from Leeds excited by two days of poker.  Saturday morning came around and I was really looking forward to a slow structured deep stacked event, I was missing Leeds vs Huddersfield but put the disappointment of that to one side whilst I boarded the train set for Manchester. 

Arriving in Manchester (raining) I was thinking about my tactics for the first few hours.  My plan was to play plenty of pots as cheaply as possible, gain a loose image and take advantage as I tightened up/hit a big hand.  My friend was already in Manchester due to work and somehow managed to blag his boss' porche, he picked me up at about 1 o clock after some confusion with where to meet, TomTom did us no favours at this point.  He sped to the Hotel (if you can call it that, it was more like somebody's house with a tiny bathroom) I being the trusting guy that I am left the booking of the hotel to my good friend, so the Hotel was in Stockport.  Standard.  We dropped our stuff of and headed for the G casino.  This is where our run in with TomTom would start, we ended up in an industrial estate and the good old TomTom reliably informed us that we had 'arrived at our destination'.  After a call to the casino we had some new directions and made the tourney at about 2.35. 

I was placed on table 2 with the other 'Chris Vickers', I identified a couple of decent players and was ready to get busy!  I passed a few hands waiting for my chance...It came!  KK in the SB, two limpers i raise a decent size just over pot.  With stacks so deep i'm not shocked to have two callers.  We see a flop of 6 8 6 rainbow.  I open for about 1/2 pot.  One of the players that i considered to be solid and able to play a lot of hands re-raised, I was thinking hard whilst limper 2 made his decision.  What cards could he have, looking at him I fancied him for a v.strong hand possibly 88, i was about 80/20 pass/call at this point.  Then limper two min raises WTF!  I muck and limper 1 shoves, limper 2 insta calls and they are on there backs.  67 vs A6 ouch!  Happy I got away from the hand however made the mistake of telling people what i passed.  This put a target on my back meaning all the decent players were (i think) running bluffs on me!

Next hand worth a small mention is 10 10, i raise one caller.  Flop J 9 x, I check raise and he shoves I obv pass although thinking about it after seeing later plays he could have shoved with Air.  I am now playing around 5k and need a double up.  I limp some pots with suited connectors trying to flop a monster and didnt get any joy, however my table image was v.v.loose which was fine by me!

Then after around 1.20mins comes my bust hand!  I find the ladies UTG+1.  UTG (a player i dont think much of limper 2 in a previous hand) min raises.  I rereaise to 700 (blinds 50-100).  All fold to him and he calls in a flash.  I put him on a weak hand at this point and am pretty confident I can take a decent pot from him.  Flop J 10 x.  He makes a really pathetic bet of 300, now he could be trapping here but I fancy him for a shit hand after some of the passes i've made.  I shove for around 3.5k, he dwells up and calls with K10.  Magic...or so I thought!  Turn 10 and I'm done!

This was not the end of my APAT experience, I head for the Rail and start chatting with Eck.  He introduced me to DesD and Dewi Cool.  True to form I proceeded to moan about how I 'run bad'!  They tell me to shut up and have a few pints.  So following orders I had a few with the blonde guys and had a great laugh.  The lads told me how they expected a skinny runt whereas I am I fat balding man that looks around 5 years older than I am!  Well I had a few pints and tried to force Dewi into drinking as anybody that knows Dewi will tell you he isnt much of a drinker! 

We played a SnG, where I met another blonde 'insert name here', had a great laugh playing a few top 50 hands and again I had a horrible beat...my QJ getting beat by Shoguns A9.  WTF!?  How can one guy be so unlucky!  I think it was at this point that Dewi gave me the nickname Mr Song which i like!  I had a few more drinks and Dewi forced a double brandy down my neck! 

Then my mate busted so we headed back to leeds to watch the hatton fight!

Well although I didnt win a bean I still had a great time, it was good to put some names to faces and have a good laugh with the blonde lads!  Will have to make it to some more live events asap!

I tried to point u in the right direction in the S'n'G but ur mistake may have been listening to me!

I got "apatted" for the first time yesterday- guy UTG+1 makes it 1000 at 150/300 i look down at  Aspades Kc and make 4k to go. He shoves all in for 7 total I call and flip my cards. He nods his head, I expect to see QQ or JJ he flips  Js Ts

Your right mate, I do run really bad!  I had some huge hands busted in that SnG, 7 4 being the hardest to take!  I love how i'm skint but still gave 20 quid away for a few laughs after a drink!!  Magic!

How did u get on? Hope u put my chips to good use- I hope you noticed I actually had a hand when I raised.  Oh and I usually would wait for a better hand and some fold equity if you're gonna make a "stand" (Once I make thet raise I'm not folding ANYTHING even 72)

nice to meet you yesterday..  Sit and Go Games were a good laugh, which I played 3 of, and also which I have to say I enjoyed immensly for a few reasons...
- Blonde players I met were great fun... I was peeing myself laughing most of the time with a great atmosphere!!
- I won all 3 of the games that I played in (choped one)
- I had gone through a fair number of bottles of Magners which seemed to lossen my game a little, LOL.

Sorry to have called with generally rubbish calling hand but as you see, I was lossened up a bit myself with the Magners, LOL...

If you play a loose-aggressive game, and have been stealing with re-raises with all sorts, you can't really complain when anyone makes a stand and out-draws you when you happen to have a decent starting hand.  He was only a 40/60 underdog anyway, so it's not the biggest upset in the world is it?

It was great to meet everybody!  Eck, thanks for the advice on poker etc much appreciated no more moaning posts !  well maybe one or two! 

I feel terrible for forcing dewi to drink, right at the start of the night he was saying I'm going to have a steady drink with me forcing drink after drink down his neck and then making him drink brandy when he hates the stuff!  Hope he can forgive me!

I'm going for the 1st pic at 14.30 then the last at 14.40

I didnt put you on an overpair, so thought it was worth a shot.  Went out about 35th in the end.  After knocking you out, i reached a highpoint of 53K before going card dead again for the last couple of hours.  Down to approx 40K. Blinds 2K/4K  i raise with  Ad Qs to 12K only for the absolute rock to the left of me to re-raise all in for 20K.  I now know im badly behind.  Have to call for the extra 8K, though i dont like it, and sure enough i run into AK.  Out shortly afterwards.

poor dewi looks devastated in that last pic..... I think it's just dawned on him that his glass is empty!

more likey his glass is empty and he cant get to the bar and hasnt seen a valet for 3 and a half weeks
