Title: January Sales Post by: Rooky9 on December 16, 2007, 08:33:47 PM The transfer window is nearly here. Who does your team need? Who do you want to see arrive? Who don't you want to see arrive?!! Will there actually be any big moves mid season?
For me, based on what we need and some of the speculation, Newcastle should be after: Wes Brown - He is out of contract in the summer, has rejected a contract and has been told that that contract is the only one available. He was poor today mind, and might get better offers! Tom Huddlestone - Out of favour but I still like the look of him from the games I saw him play for Derby and England U21's. Physically and technically could be an english Viera, with the diet! Peter Crouch - has attributes that no one else in the league has. People find him difficult to play against him. Could work well with what we already have. Needs to be playing more than his current 40% if he wants to play for his country. Having said that I'm not sure if he would want to give up champions league (or indeed any european football). All english, all the right sort of age with the right levels of experience to compliment what we have. I do not want to see El Haj Diouf anywhere near St James Park. In the summer we need a top class attacking midfielder. How about your teams? Title: Re: January Sales Post by: GlasgowBandit on December 16, 2007, 08:50:03 PM Celtic
We need a left back, Lee Naylor has been woeful this season and injured for a good bit as well reports suggest that we have signed Andreas Hinkel from Seville, he is a German international, hasn't played that often in La Liga but made 8 appearances in UEFA cup last year and 3 in CL this year so has a bit of experience playing in Europe. And with 17 international caps for Germany he can't be that bad. A centre-falf to partner Mick Manus is a necessity, the big man has done well but still lacks the experience he needs someone along side him who can bring him through games and who can teach him to tighten up parts of his game that need worked on. There aren't that many experienced centre-backs on the go though. Wes Brown was a name I brought up for discussion a few months back, but I'd prefer to see him at right back. Its also difficult for us to attract top quality players to the SPL and we need to remember that when looking at replacements. Gary Breen wouldn't be the worse signing in the world for us. We also need a right back, I'd like to see us go for the young boy at Hibs Kevin McGann he has impressed me each time I have seen him play. He has good positional sense, hard in the tackle and can run up and down the flank all day long. A striker is also a must, someone who can hold the ball up,, win it in the air and take a bit of pressure off of Scott McDonald, I know they say never go back but I'd try and lure Viduka back to CP. Its also been muted than the King of Kings could be on his way back for a short term loan deal, not sure i would welcome that tbh, I'd prefer Larrsons legacy was untocuhed. Players who should be shown the door - Pressley, Balde, Naylor, Hesselink, Zurwaski to name but a few. To continue what Glenn Roeder has done in the first 6 weeks of his tenure and loan a bunch of premiership reserves who are much better than the rubbish we have got with a couple of exceptions. Hopefully we will get Martin Taylor from Birmingham on a permenant deal, so we don't have to play the slowest/clumiest/worst passer in league football stop forward Gary Doherty. Anything to achieve midtable mediocrity and start again next season, sigh. Title: Re: January Sales Post by: Nem on December 16, 2007, 11:48:00 PM Tottenham Hotspur
We need a Defensive Midfielder more than any other player. Senna, has been mentioned, a few others as well. Carrick seems a 'bit part' player at ManYoo and I would love him back at Spurs. I would also like Defoe to sign his new contract and King to stay fit. Wes Brown would be a welcomed addition. Rooky, you can have Huddlestone, as he is a waste of space. A new stadium is to be announced. It seems that we are going to build a brand new stadium behind the existing one. I personally are a bit apprehensive with regards to completely building a new one due to the costs. Hopefully, the new owners will pay for it... ;whistle; Title: Re: January Sales Post by: The Baron on December 16, 2007, 11:57:43 PM Liverpool
We need centre half cover for when Agger or Carragher is injured as although Hyypia has been very good recently his pace is lacking in the last 18 months or so. We also need to sign Mascherano on a permanent basis as they aren't too many top class DM's about. The other transfers can wait until the summer. Maybe it's a mental block though because there never seems to be anything between us in our big games with the other top teams but we always end up losing or drawing. (Except in Europe) Title: Re: January Sales Post by: Nem on December 17, 2007, 12:33:56 AM Liverpool fans just have to accept that they are not as good as the other top 3 - no where near in my mind.

Anything else will be a bonus.

Anything else will be a bonus. I really don't understand that one. I have heard similar myself. I was sorry that Celtic let Kenny go, I liked him he wasn't the most prolific in front of goal but he'd put in a shift and this season he started quite brightly by scoring goals. Although 3 million was too much to knock back for someone of his previous form. I know its been doing the rounds but I have heard that Larrson will be back for a 3 month loan deal, not sure this is something I would welcome - it would be terrible if the King of kings came back and we were reliant on him scoring to win the league and he failed. i'd much prefer that Helsingborgs came up against Rangers in the UEFA Cup and the Magnificent 7 managed a hat trick :) Title: Re: January Sales Post by: Karabiner on December 18, 2007, 10:31:52 AM I think Arsenal could do with one more quality centre half, as we'll be a little stretched when Kolo goes off to the ACN.
We may be getting Djourou back from his loan spell at Birmingham but he still looks a little raw to me and more experience playing every week for BC might serve him better in the long run than coming back to us and sitting mostly on the bench. AW will probably sign someone that nobody's ever heard of as per usual....
