Was just about to make a post on this...

I'm playing a human, who isn't that strong and hasn't managed his PFLs that well. I've rested most of my first team as they are still knackered after last week.

Score at tea:
End of Over 2 (1 runs). Bigglesthwaite CC: 3-0, runrate=1.50
Trail by 165 runs. (Tigers11 168-10)

My reserve prof spinner took a 5for :)

If I win this match then I would virtually guarantee 4th place, a draw may mean I have to win my final match against the side that is in 3rd place.  It was looking good at 178/5 and I was hoping to take max bowling points and deprive them of batting points (every point counts as they are also competing for 4th spot), but sadly I've not been able to take the wicket which would get me into their tail.  Running out of time to get that second bowling point.

End of Over 90 (Maiden). three lions: 326-5, runrate=3.62
Capp 12-2-46-0
Ottley* 87 (122 balls)
Rowe 56 (123 balls)

Last Wicket: Butts b. Talamini 14 (FOW: 178/5)

Oops....

May have dropped a bit of a clanger here - playing the team in 7th in our division. He's having a rough season because his two star players (BTR 145k+ & 80k+) are both in the england U19 squad and are not playing. Decided that as it is a game i should win then i wont play any of my new signings and i'll even give a couple of other regulars a rest to try and ensure that the game goes to a third day as this is my last home game of the season.

I set my declaration to 400 instead of 360 to try and ensure that if i bat first that i bat for the whole day..........

The players are off the field for the change of innings.

End of Over 56 (8 runs). Matts Monkeys: 402-0, runrate=7.18
Eagles 10-0-102-0
Kirkland* 196 (167 balls)
Abel 198 (174 balls)

in reply they are currently

End of Over 33 (2 runs). Boom CCC: 113-7, runrate=3.42
Trail by 289 runs. (Matts Monkeys 402-0 dec)
Azizullah 4-0-11-1
Eagles* 0 (5 balls)
Fairlie-clarke 4 (21 balls)

Last Wicket: Blewett c. Malcolm b. Mercer 25 (FOW: 111/7)

I've just realized that i didnt expect to get the score and bowl them out within a day so i don't think i've set my "enforce follow on" to no which means if i get the remaining 3 wickets in the last 21 overs i doubt i'll be getting a third days money!! :(

GL Bazza
UL Matt

I'm still going ok, but it's all pretty standard.

Tough game next week, if I want to try and win though, but will have to see what PFL is like first.

33.3 W Mercer to Eagles
And Eagles's GONE, Beaten by the spin!

34.2 W Azizullah to Faldo
Azizullah is on a lap of honour after that delivery rips Faldo's middle stump clean out of the ground. The crowd are chanting his name...

Blimey, this might be over today!! :D

quite pleased with these bowling figures so far - economical

Mercer 4-4-0-2

End of Over 36 (4 runs). Boom CCC: 124-10, runrate=3.44
Trail by 278 runs. (Matts Monkeys 402-0 dec)
Mercer 5-4-4-3
Fearns* 0 (2 balls)

At least there are only 18 overs left today - surely i cant bowl them out again before stumps to get 2nd days money at least? :D

Opponents kindly batted beyond the 360mark and have allowed me to pick up a second bowling point.

My chances of finishing second have been smashed into the boundry today.
However my oppo did declare for 356/1, strange total.

Just need to bat for two days now-one time.

Having guaranteed second place last week Athletico Foxy are now in an interesting game versus the league leaders who are nailed on champs due to their final game next week being against a bot.

It should be a useful test against a succesful team especially as I've had to respond to their two spinner/dusty pitch by including a couple of spinners of my own who aren't usually first choices.

Batted first and was going well at 230-2 but then slumped to 311 all out.

However the Foxy attack managed to reduce them to 51-4 at the close which probably gives us a slight edge overall with all to play for tomorrow!   ;nemesis;

Err yeah.. kinda did what Matt managed to do as well

Declared on 383-1 from just the 55 overs. Happy to see my opener sneaked a double century.

Then bowled them out for 59 in 45 overs, and have them 9-3 in the 2nd innings.

Well I'll get 2 days pay anyways.

He sure is. I'm planning on just using him in the OD league next year in an attempt to stay up in that, I think my team is strong enough to cope..

They declared on 405/7.  I survived the final over without loss.  Not entirely sure how I can possibly win from this position mind you.

Wrapped my game up quickly this morning, took 11 overs to reach 360 and declare, then bowled them out for 28, both opening bowlers taking 5-11.

Hopefully I can make it to 360 without further loss to deny them a bowling point...every little helps.

End of Over 51 (7 runs). KBOTW: 206-2, runrate=4.04
Trail by 199 runs. (three lions 405-7 dec)

Mercer 9-6-6-3
Fairlie-clarke* 56 (85 balls)

87.3 W Mercer to Fearns
Despite getting in a good stride Fearns was adjudged LBW. He won't be happy with that.

Not quite sure what we are going to do after the tea break - sit in a circle and sing camp songs together?  :dontask:

Quite pleased with the final figures for my spinner in this game, hope he can be as economical in the one day game on Friday

Mercer 14.3-10-10-6 :)

My captain decided to give them an extra over to try and get the bowling point but they failed.  Match is looking like a draw but you never know.

The players are off the field for the change of innings.

End of Over 26 (7 runs). three lions: 109-1, runrate=4.19 (1st Inn: 405-7 dec)
Lead by 134 runs. (KBOTW 380-2 dec)
Wardley 3-0-12-0
Saunders* 43 (77 balls)
Mulvaney 23 (27 balls)

Last Wicket: Weight c. Tau b. Perry 30 (FOW: 67/1)

Its looking like a draw however I'm toying with the idea of pulling a fast one and have some batsmen bowling.  They will presumably set a safe target which i would be very unlikely to reach however, if I get my batsmen to bowl they should score quickly therefore will declare earlier and I will have more overs to try and reach my target.  Obviously this makes the possibility of losing the game higher as my batsmen would have to bat for longer but I got faith lol.

i cant face opening my game up i know i will have lost by now

i just want them to bat 1 or 2 overs

Bowled them out for 118 in reply to my 311 but then was taken aback when the follow on was enforced as I thought I'd changed that option to No!    rotflmfao

Really wanted to bat them out of the game on spinners pitch but clearly must remember to save the change to orders!!!

Knew they'd bat better second time round but have managed to keep them to 215-7 and just a small lead of 22.

Hope to wrap it up early tomorrow without any jittery run chases!

End of Over 11 (3 runs). Athletico Foxy: 45-2, runrate=4.09 (1st Inn: 311-10)
Lead by 1 runs. (Bidds CC 118-10 & 237-10)
Visagie 5-0-22-2
Court* 17 (25 balls)
Cornick 21 (24 balls)

Last Wicket: Clements lbw b. Visagie 4 (FOW: 11/2)

Yay!!   That would be a win then!   :)up

Also this means there's one team at div V level I can potentially beat next season though......spose the odds are against being in same league again though!   ;sark;

This one made me smile yesterday......

33.4 W Riggott to Mcdougal
Don't blame it on the ball shine, don't blame it on the great flight, don't blame it on the crease line, blame it on the googly! That's out!

The first part of my cunning plan has worked well.  I had my batsmen bowland his batsmen plundered runs quickly.  He has just declared and I now 86overs to chase down 331.  ONE TIME batsmen!!!

Good luck with the chase!

Tactical genius me :D

Not sure my opponent will see it like that though.

Need my batsmen to up the run rate a little for the plan to come to fruition.

Win at all costs within the rules.............

Have you broken any rules? No

Therefore no problem - your opponent shouldn't have set a second innings declaration total :)

Yep very true.  Had to put faith in my batsmen to be able to score 300+ to win the game.  Not my fault his bowlers are toothless :D

EDIT:

Why do I get a feeling that I've just bokked myself, scared to look now incase one of his bowlers has just had a hattrick

Title: Re: battrick FC 18/12

Well admittedly it was a slim chance!

I'm a fan of such tactics - like playing all the batsmen I could muster against a decent team, and using them as bowlers too - hoping I could bat long enough to scrape a draw!

Job Done

Another pleasing aspect is that at long last (has only taken me a season) I seem to have found the key to getting some decent performances from the enigmatic Tau.

And that's the end of the match. 8 wickets.

End of Over 70 (2 runs). KBOTW: 332-2, runrate=4.74 (1st Inn: 380-2 dec)

My most satisfying result in FC cricket today.

Also I am living proof that you can survive in division 5 with a below average team, little money, a lot of luck and crap managers against you.

At Home

Them 356/1 Dec
Me 455/10
Them 238/10
Me 142/3

How he must love that early declaration in the first innings.

I now can't go down, might also have enough money to get through the close season and come out the other end with cash.  Still I am to decide weather to go for the interest and sell or hang onto the squad - I think it is dawning on me that I don't have a player worth the cash any way - oh choices, choices.
