Title: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: KarmaDope on December 19, 2007, 06:12:26 PM In the poker goals for 2008 thread, I stated that one of my goals was to attempt the "Jesus Challenge".
Well, I've decided that I'm gonna do it, and start on January 1, 2008. Updates can be found at my blog (link is in my sig) but I was wondering what you guys thought would be the best site to do it on? Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: Dewi_cool on December 19, 2007, 06:14:34 PM sky
Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: redsimon on December 19, 2007, 06:41:59 PM Im attempting something similar on Party. Was given $25 on 25/11/07 by the site with a 150 point clearance by 25/12/07. Started using it at $25 buy in PLO8 (all 'roll on 1 table!) and going by a 10 buy in rule before moving up, so need to get to $500 before going onto $50 tables. Currently on 135 points $200+, so going steady

Discipline and ability. Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: Grier78 on December 19, 2007, 09:23:49 PM If you start with VC Poker then you can get $10 for free and another $10 as a bonus offer. Don't know of any other site that gives free money with no deposit, but if there is let me know as I have a reasonable roll on VC for free.

Micro stakes awful!
Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: steeveg on December 20, 2007, 08:31:13 PM is it possible to open 2 accounts and play on different platforms at the same time, you could multitable and if 1 account suddenly shoots ahead of the other you could just play under that account to reach your target, i dont see it breaking any of the rules you have set yourself ,it could save a bit of time m8
Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: RichEO on December 21, 2007, 02:46:49 AM Yeah, who says you can't play multiple sites or change sites half way through.
Start at whichever site has the best freerolls / opening offer. Once you get $50-$100, move to whereever has the appropriate limits. Seriously though. If you do $100 to $10,000 rather than $0 to $10,000 you have achieved as much without the painstaking freerolling you need to start with. Who wants to play for a month or 2 for $100? You have a point there Rich...I hadn't even thought about that! I had originally planned to just open an account where I could get decent rakeback. As for doing $100 to $10,000...I don't have $100 at the moment! If I had...then I definitely would, because the freeroll part is the least exciting part of the whole challenge. If you start with VC Poker then you can get $10 for free and another $10 as a bonus offer. Thanks for this, I'll have a look at VC! sky Elaborate Dewi? They got any decent starting offers? If anybody else knows of any other sites with decent offers (and yes Kev, I already know about the LOYALTY SCHEME) then feel free to mention them to me, thanks! No way is it the hardest part. It is however the most time consuming, boring, least productive. His 1st challenge didn't start from $0, so it could just be a hybrid Jesus challenge and as it isn't actually Ferguson doing it, it's sharplea and he can 'edit' it if he wants :P Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: Linux on December 22, 2007, 11:13:17 AM Blue square... they have freeroll sit and goes running constantly. 5c for 1st place and so on.
Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: jizzemm on December 22, 2007, 05:40:53 PM What I am doing is playing on a crypto site playing the Double Your Money 6 or 10 seater STT's, which also give you 30% rake on a weekly basis and building up from there, can be done very quickly then as well..
I tired the bsq way from freeroll and got p off when i built up to 4$ and did not cash in 3 $1 stt, so started on the other one, as i could nto be bothered to start again on the freerolls.. GL .. :)up Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: richmagpies on December 22, 2007, 07:38:08 PM I started doing this at the end of August - from scratch via freerolls and then onto micro cash and then $2 stts on ladbrokes after the micro cash did my head in. I am up to about $120 at the moment and will move up to $5 stts once I reach $150 (30 buy-ins). May take a while as I rarely get time to play more than a few games a week but if i keep at the current 72% in the money for the next couple of weeks it will be quicker!
Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: snoopy1239 on December 23, 2007, 10:36:24 PM I love a good challenge, and it's great to see so many people giving these a crack.
I recently started one after being nipped by the taxman for £3.5k. I have to pay £2.5k by Jan 21st, so I've decided to try and turn the $1k in my blonde account into $5k by that date by just playing heads up cash. A challenge can really help motivate you when it comes to playing online, especially when it's the tax man. I really want to acheive this one, if only to pay the tax man through 'dirty money'. ;D I'm on Day 3 at the moment, if anyone is interested in heads up cash, then feel free to check out my progress on my blog (link below). Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: SuffolkPunch on December 24, 2007, 07:41:00 AM Good luck, Snoops. Bloody taxman, eh.
Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: hugob055 on December 24, 2007, 02:44:22 PM good thread guys.....keep us all informed with how its going
Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: KarmaDope on February 13, 2008, 11:59:05 PM Mine never got off the ground...getting a job got in the way.
Blog's still active though if anyone wants a Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: SuffolkPunch on February 14, 2008, 09:31:59 AM Got to over $500 from my startinjg $3, but a few recent misunderstandings have sent be back to about $430. Keeping the interest up when playing these stakes is increasingly tricky, and I've found myself splitting the roll between different sites to try and keep things "fresh". Right now I'm doing the £5 sixpack thunder sit and goes on DTD, running at about 30% ROI - and playing small cash at Stars. I think this is the most profitable route at these levels. We'll see.
I really need to kick on again, though, to raise the enthusiasm! Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: pokerram on February 14, 2008, 01:42:03 PM gl everybody trying this challange too but starting with 250 spread on party laddies and stars. I can see the first level up to 500 being the hardest.
cheers ram Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: pokerram on February 29, 2008, 10:44:28 PM Started on 17 feb with 241
End of feb 382 Moved cash to tilt from laddies and party. Still at stars. Playing .05/.10fr and 2 dollar 180 man sng Good start but need to keep it going this month Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: richmagpies on March 01, 2008, 12:47:01 AM I'm up to about $246 profit now after a nice $90 cash for 4th in a new player freeroll at Galapoker. Started playing the $5 stts on ladbrokes a couple of weeks ago and will hopefully be moving up again soon when I have the requisite 30-40 buy ins. Just wish I had the time to play a bit more!

Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: M3boy on March 01, 2008, 03:04:58 AM I admire all of you who choose this route to build up a roll - or just as a challenge.
I could not do either as micro limits boore me to tears. I prefer using the "play a $100 or $200 tournament" when you can afford it, wait for the decent finsih, THEN employ bankroll management ;) Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: ZZZZZZZROPE on March 02, 2008, 06:48:20 PM I prefer using the "play a $100 or $200 tournament" when you can afford it, wait for the decent finsih, THEN employ bankroll management ;) lol so true :D Title: Re: The "Jesus Challenge" Post by: M3boy on March 02, 2008, 06:59:13 PM Im struggling on the "decent finish" part though lol

55 left Blinds 500 1000 Moved to new table and in the BB with KK Guy with 43k raises to 5k all fold to me. I have 30k back and move in.
