Title: Wireless Printers? Post by: Tractor on December 19, 2007, 08:50:27 PM Help needed!
i need to buy a new printer and ive seen a wireless one from Lexmark. We have 2 Windows laptops, 1 macbbok and 2 Mac Desktops. At the moment we only have one printer connected to one mac, couldnt get the printer to function over the network. So my question is - Will a wireless printer allow all my pcs/laptops to connect and print to it? And also is Lexmark any good, if not any recomendations appreciated. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131694 (http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131694) <<< This is the one I was looking at. Yes you can set it up to work on all your machines. I dont know much about Lexmark though I have a Canon MP800R and its superb. Networked to 3 pc's Title: Re: Wireless Printers? Check that there are MAC drivers available. I'd also check the price of the cartridges before buying a printer. I seem to recall that when I was considering a cheap Lexmark printer replacing the cartridges cost more than the printer. As an alternative to a wireless printer, you can use a normal USB printer connected to a PC (or MAC) that if the PC is always left on can be shared accross the network. You can also get an ethernet (RJ-45 wired network) printer which will work accross your network. The fact that the printer is not actually connected wirelessly doesn't matter, you can still print from a wireless laptop in another room. |
