My parents went and saw this in the states this week   they said it sucked

apperently is a remake of a Charlton Heston  film from the 60's

great great cinematography though

story and acting was, to use your phrase, as you say!

Arlington Road...great ending! Saw I Am Legend yesterday...3/5 from me, great first 45 mins but then we see the zombie type bad guys...oh dear poor cgi, plus comedy cgi lions that had us in hysterics! A massive budget for this film but very poor cgi, why not use actors for the zombies? much scarier...

Unfortunately, the film lacks dept. The ending is very 'war of the worlds' and has little build up. The film had potential, but in reality the director ran out of ideas. I would give this film 6/10.

Agreed. Will Smith is always watchable though, and gotta love Sam, stole the show.

I meant that in my view there was no build up to the ending in both films.

watched online thanks ifm, read the 2p2 thread. I missed all the religious imagery. duh I'm so thick. I thought it was a good film up to the point he gets trapped and then miraculously rescued and then it was very poor.

apparently the ending in the book is completely different and they filmed different endings and at the last minute decided on the soppy one. e.g Anna is meant to be in league with the zombies and lead them to his house but all of that was cut out.

Would never have known why it is called "I am Legend" from just watching the film.

Hmm, I think I would have liked that, although he'd still have to save the day somehow to justify the 'legend' title.

they're saying he's a legend like Dracula is to us. if the whole world turns into zombies and there's one non zombie going around killing and doing experiments on everyone, who's the bad guy?

Saw it last night, thought it was pretty decent...

downloaded this for my 12 year old son. just watched it to make sure it was cool for him to watch.

i thought it was ok.  but i kept waiting for something to happen. it never did. and the end was dreadful

Thought the film had potential (I loved 28 days later), but it sort of petered out after Sam died.  Hollywood watering down what could have been a brilliant film.

A decent bit of entertainment though - far, far better than War of the Worlds and all that scientology nonsense.

a million times better than war of the worlds, some great suspense moments in the film, but couldnt help thinking that they lost the middle part of the film, so much scope for a better ending as others have said.

ps. just how many other ways can Will Smith save the world ..

Thanks for that link totalise - had already found a good quality copy on surfthechannel.com.  I of course had been to the cinema for the 'big screen experience' but my brother wanted to see it.

I thought it was quite good but had potential to be better.

Watched it yesterday.

Would give it around 6.8/10.

It was a bit scary, but good, poor ending, but the deformed humans were comedy.

second half of the film...very poor editing job..they'd clearly chopped a far longer film

first half excellent stuff , very good cinematography but I felt they lost their nerve thereafter and didn't carry through to deliver the sort of film it could have been..this could have been studio interference

...and dont forget the worst effects since Van Helsing! (ugh!)

Ray Harryhausen was a legend (whoops - just checked, and he's still alive).  He is Legend.

Im simple and dumb, and thought was awesome, except the Lions, they looked pretty shit.

The original ending has been released (or will be), when i say original ending i mean true to the books ending.
I think most were disappointed with the films ending.

Speaking of endings, just watched Vantage Point, great until they went for the ending, where it was just dire.

Deffo not worth watching, first 1:20 is great last 0:30 is some of the worst cinema i have ever seen!

That I Am Legend ending is so much better than the shite they finished it off with at the cinema.
