Title: stop n go?
Post by: Ironside on December 21, 2007, 07:01:43 PM
this hand is one where i get caught with AK UTG missed the flop and tightend makes what seems like a stop n go
now although only 3 players get paid if i get to 6th i get an extra £200 in the league money and tightend knows this
as the railbirds are telling me not get involved as i can climb the ladder
i already knew this but didnt want the players to think that they could keep stealing from me and i would be laying down as
there was some nice money for top 3 that i wanted to play for aswell

now i made an instant call without looking at the board as i knew as soon as tighty called from bb they were going in regardless (the fact his clock nearly ran down preflop aswell made it look like he was planning a move

how bad was my instant call?

Given the described scenario, calling seems terrible here.

Far too many chips, he looks like a scared small pair.

Stop n go's are very often a small pair type hand. You don't have odds against a hand like this, nowhere near. This is not an +EV play, Tighty has to have alot smaller stack than this for this to be close.

I'd agree with that..the call is pretty poor

Both played the hand badly IMO

Both played the hand badly IMO

I knew Ironside could not call unless he connected big, due to the technicalities of the points/prizes.

He's also LAG and esp so with pre-flop raising range so I downplayed the chances of an overpair to this flop a little

Any picture card on the flop and I probably wouldn't stop and go, as it was the texture looked ok enough for me to try it

oh yeah, I was also the short-stack, all the more reason to try it

pushing pre, he calls with a wide range..by giving him a chance to miss the flop I think I have more F.E given the complications in the prizes
