Title: footie this christmas period..let's see how much can be made. Post by: boldie on December 21, 2007, 09:50:21 PM After making a nice amount on the footie last weekend with ManU and Arsenal doing the business for me I am, as always, really looking forward to the mad rush of footie at Christmas time. The bookies will make a few mistakes over the christmas period and that's all I'm looking for.
This weekend starts off the great christmas 3 games in a week madness and there are 2 outstanding bets for me (prices taken from corals coupon..you might get better.if you check oddschecker.com ) The rules for me are simple during this period...team I bet on has to be a decent price for the fixture and will be either a team at the top or it will be a decent team playing a team at the bottom of the league.. I'll start with a 50£ bet and will let half of the profits ride on to the next match day. I will never bet on anything more than a double (trebles are bookies bets) and that's it really. This weekend; Darlington to beat Lincoln @5-4 (Darlington away) Lincoln city on 18 points 4 from the bottom and a poor home record. Darlington top 4 36 points and a good away record (5 wins 2 draws 2 losses 15 goals for and 6 against) Ross County to beat Brechin @ 10-11 (Ross county away) Ross County top the league with 31 points and great away record. Brechin 2nd from bottom, 14 points and dismal home record of only 2 wins (admittedly 5 draws) at these odds it's almost a 4-1 double. also gives me a good reason to sit through Gillette soccer saturday..always great fun if you have a bet on :) Anyone spot any value anywhere this weekend? Post by: fergus8 on December 22, 2007, 05:50:43 PM well betfair/betdaq is easiest to do it, but i can be done by betting on the draw and dundee utd to win for small stakes to win ur initial stake back, basically you will then be freeroling for a slightly lower overall win, but in my opinion worth it

Title: Re: footie this christmas period..let's see how much can be made. Post by: boldie on December 22, 2007, 06:49:27 PM Boxing day brings us leg2 of this little thing.
As I only had a single actually go ahead todayso got 112.50 back for my 50£ I shall be keeping 50£ of this back (as stated in my OP I would keep half back but decided that as I started out with a single bet I shall just keep 50 back).. Leeds are away to Hartlepool and I'm almost tempted to go with Leeds at evens here as they would be well ahead of everybody if they hadn't had 15 points deducted and are running hot at the moment. Hartlepool are effectively 24 points behind them...that's a big gap but there's better value to be had elsewhere AND...I set out the rules elsewhere and this game doesn't quite comply with them :( so I'm giving this a miss..although it pains me to say this. MK dons are doing really well in league2 at the moment and this boxing day they are away to Notts County who are 22 points behind them. Notts are not that great at home and MK dons have won 7 out of 10 of their away games..at 10-11 this is a must bet in my book. Peterborough (league 2) are away to Mansfield this boxing day..Mansfield are bottom of the league..Peterborough top 3..Peterborough are not the best away team in the world but have won 5 out of their 10 away games... at even money I can't stay away from this one that's my double for boxing day..unless either Peterborough or MK dons pick up a host of injuries or the team gets the flu. Got the start time mixed up for the Man United game, went into Billy Hills to stick my line up after doing a bit of shopping for Christmas and seen it was half time, proceeded to go on tilt and spunk away £170 - I think I might switch to being a muslim over this festive period and cancel christmas off in this household. MK Dons (vs Notts County). 3pts win @ 10/11. Ive gone with Hartlepool, basically because were not that good and have been extremely lucky all season. We wont be beat at home in this divison with 30,000 strong crowds, but an away defeat has been coming and Hartlepool outplayed us even though we won 3-0 at home earlier in the season. I hope im wrong, but tis' value. If you dont want to back Hartlepool, id at least advise leaving us (Leeds) out of your coupons. ........And i agree with Boldedge with MK Dons for all the reasons he stated.
