Title: arrrrggghhh Omaha Donkaments
Post by: Graham C on December 27, 2007, 11:29:01 PM
Villian has been playing ok, but it's not long since he won a just over a buy in from me after insisting he got all his chips in on the flop with middle set despite flush and straight draws.  I went on to hit my but flush but he managed to luck out with quads on the river.

Regardless, this is an easy fold isn't it?

actually scrub that, it is an easy fold.  Could have had a pocket pair matching the other cards on the board and I was beat too.

ffs, I've had a bit of a ding dong with the guy from the last hand, now he's raising every pot I'm remotely involved with.   Just taken all my cash again calling an all in raise with KK on a QJJ board.  He won with Kings and Jacks.  OK I probably shouldn't have been in there anyway, but all my showdown hands have been credible, and he's just taking the piss and annoyingly getting away with it.

Costing me loads tonight  ;grr;

I've done so much $ recently holding the nuts on the flop to be set all in and they catch river perfect to frustrate the f#*k out of me, 6 max omaha cash is a fantastic game but damn you need to be properly rolled to suffer these horrible variance shifts!

would you call?  I was tempted purely because of the previous hand where he jammed with trips when he was so behind only to hit the quad on the river, but then I didn't want to let that get in the way of me making a judgement here.  Perhaps that's why he did it.

I lost a bit more trying to trap my nemesis later on with a full house on the turn, only for the board to double pair on the river giving someone else a better FH :(

Bad night, good experience, but I've learned not to get into arguments with people :D

why would you call a preflop raise with a very marginal hand? AQQ5 is not great and out of position should always be folded to a raise (In my humble opinion)..against most players on this board it is a good fold.

not a fold imo especially against this oppo.

in the first hand i fold against most players on the river, will look up the odd donk here though. Close to pot but not quite bets tend to be made hands in my experience.

Hand 1  - I am popping his turn bet the check raise looks pretty damn good here, especially with their being 2 aces on the board.
Hand 2 - You get your money in with the nuts pitty u cant get someone to laydown bottom set with a non flushing straight draw.

Some folk just don't realise that flush draws own straight draws.  And you could well have the made straight.  Or at least be drawing to Nut straight.
Your just unlucky he fills up, against this sort of opponent though I am rocking up for the next buy in and playing position.

Glasgow the guy has a set in hand 2. We get it in with overpair + FD, which is never that bad considering turns that hit except the A kill our action. You are almost never ahead on the flop though. The way it's played he cannot really be bluffing when he raises the flop. Considering he has 26$ in total though it's standard stack off here.

the 2nd hand is about as standard as it comes. both play it fine.

Way too tight.

Quite nice to hear that I didn't do that much wrong.  It was a funny night last night, one table, I just couldn't win on no matter what i did, it just went wrong, the other table, I was doing ok on.

one thing i would say is that i would tend to bet again on the turn in hand 1, check calling is putting a big sign out that you can get taken off your hand, if he re pops the turn you can fold anyway, brave man only bluffs the river to a check or value looking bet.

I think this is one particular weakness of mine, betting the flop, then going to check/call mode if oppo doesn't fold.  Will work on it.

Yeah first hand if you bet the 4$ on the flop if ur behind ur still losing it anyway as you did with the call, but this time we pretty much rule out (I'm assuming he's not some super sick genius) getting taken off the pot by the worst hand. Call on the turn to fold river looks like ur hoping to fill up in which case you are only completely happy with the A or Q anyway.
