blimey....of course he's innocent until proven guilty and no doubt he was getting terrible stick but he really does seem to me to be someone I dislike enormously from afar

I love his style of play and was hoping Celtic may have taken a chance on him when Man City where trying to punt him, but he really is a bad apple he's in need of psychological help i think.

If your currently out on bail and you commit an offence then I think its pretty fair you end up in jail rather than bailed again. Having said that I think he would be as well watched outside a prison as in it and we are a bit short of cell space at the moment!

Everyone who I have heard talk about Joey Barton who has met him sober has said he is a really nice bloke, but after a drink he just goes mental. I knew a couple of people like that, can't claim to understand it. The solution is simple, unless your an alcoholic (and even then), just don't drink and you stay out of trouble.

Whilst the money that premier league footballers earn is always given as the reason they should keep out of trouble, and have to put up with being abused, I don't think thats fair. What is clear is that their money covers the compensation for them to make sacrifices for ten years or so of their life, to avoid situations like this completly. A footballer is still young enough to go and enjoy themselves and their money after their career. There are plenty of high profile footballers who have managed to retain a their privacy. (Michael Owen after the 98 world cup could have headed up a Beckham style brand if he had wanted to)

Will be interesting to see what happens to him after the court case. I imagine the time he will have served would cover any punishment, but being found guilty might have further consequences for him - not just professionally but in his upcoming case for the training ground thing.

I think he has a genuine problem somewhere.

he may well be innocent  but i know if someome like him keeps going to fast food places in town after all the clubs have shut,hes just asking for trouble, its his own fault he is a very tough lad but he wants to get a bit of common sense and not put him self in these sort of positions,

after what his family did in Liverpool you would think he would be sensible enough to avoid going into the city.

I hate the press stories about Joey Barton always bringing in his half brother that he didn't grow up with. Just because someone shares the same father doesn't mean they should be linked at every opportunity to blacken his name.

This being said, the lad remains a liability.

It is certainly a fair point rooky but his half brother was responsible for a very high profile murder in Liverpool, even if it is as you say someone he had little contact with he must surely realise that is gonna cause some unrest.
