Post by: NumptyITB on December 28, 2007, 10:43:24 PM
OK..

£30 Freezeout.. 19 runners i think... Top 5 pay.

Starting chips 6000. 20 minute blinds.

current level 300-600

Your stack 5900
Second shortest at table.

13 players left

7 people on your table

Folds round to you on the cut off with
 Ac Jc

You raise to make it 1800 total.

Button folds. Small blind folds.

Big blind, looks at his cards, looks up at you, and announces "ALL IN".
He has approx 12,000 chips.

Call?  No Call?

Is this a trick question?

*sigh* give the man your answer and why!!!

my unimportant view...yes you have to call, and I may well have pushed in rather than done a standard raise to start with, gives you the option of everyone folding

Stick it all in rather than stndard raise, at least he can think about passing for half his chips..before calling!

call, call, call, call, call

you started the hand with <10BB. you cannot raise to 3BB and then pass

I prefer the push too

He's not passing AQ there any day of the week surely?

He's thinking i am short stacked, my range of hands to do it with there is massive, he's calling all day long!??

no he's not and yes he is..which is what you want..you want him to call you with a wide range of hands..you just got unlucky that you were called by one that dominated you.

of course, but you have fold equity over weaker hands he might hold

and he can put you to the test, where you might pass after yr standard raise, with these same hands if he re-raises

ie you are putting decision on him not putting yourself in a bad spot

why would you want him to fold?

reason being is because its our "home" game and is played for fun and an evenings entertainment rather than looking to fleece each other.

cant poker ever be played for enjoyment? spreading the money around so everyone continues to enjoy our wondeful game?
or do we always have to play to fleece anyone we may play including our friends?

How do you know you are dead?

AJ should  be crushing the BB range here, unless the BB is useless
