After posting on the learning centre board today about translating online play to live play I'm delighted to have done a 3 way chop tonight at Ceasar's 50 seater:)

I reckon I could have won it but a 3 way chop seemed reasonable so I'm over the moon :) I reckon I might be back there tomorrow or try the Binions one instead.

Cheers laxie, I'm chuffed and its given me a bit of confidence. As I described on the learning section, I felt there was a lot of distractions in the live play and felt a little nervous and couldnt play my usual aggressive way so now I'm going to try to do it again:)

One thing that really annoyed me was a few guys who kept saying 'wow wow wow wow wow wow' It really riled me but it made me more determined to bust them.....lol

Well done Mad!  You will have to give us a trip report.

I’m out here for a week and to be honest that’s plenty for me. The flights I booked must be the worse flights in history. It took 21 hours to get here but at least I got to spend 4 hours in New York City and do the same on the way back. I’m going to try to meet up with some people I know that live in New York so that would break the journey up on the way back!  If anyone is thinking of going (those who have not been), get direct flights. If I ever came back that’s what I’d be doing. I’m just getting over the jet lag and I don’t know how all the poker players do it so regularly? Travelling sucks!!

The weather is cold and I mean freezing cold! I must have been crazy when I packed some shorts and bikinis. LOL.  I’ve not had a chance to get glammed up so it’s been denims and sweats all the way! Much warmer than a dress and heels!  The clothes shops here are dirt cheap and I found heaven. They have a Diesel shop and I’m going there later to clear it out!!  The prices are superb!

I’m staying at the Venetian and my suite is beautiful and it’s got TVs everywhere. Not that I’m watching telly but if you are an addict then you would be in heaven. It’s very spacious and I’d highly recommend staying here. The view from the window is the best thing about it, a range of mountains as far as the eye can see and they look different every day depending on the weather and light. Wonderful I’m in my glory 

I’ve not done any day trips but tomorrow I’m going to take the helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon and I can’t wait to see those awesome rock formations. Some might think I’m sad going to Vegas and thinking the mountains are better than the strip but that’s my thing Also, I was thinking of taking in a show either tonight or tomorrow but I got the poker bug so I don’t know if I’ll bother? Should I? Are they really that ‘unmissable’? lol

I’ve had a bit of an adventure and had some fun but there’s one or 2 things I didn’t enjoy. I ordered some borlotti bean soup and I checked and double checked that it was vegetarian, including specifically asking about the base stock. I was reassured it was. You can imagine my horror when I found bit of meat in it!! It later transpired that they used dead pig to make the beans ‘taste better’. After 18 years of being a veggie you can imagine the conversation the manager and I had!! I got some more stories about veggie foods, none of which are very good. I even went to the Bellagio for their champagne breakfast/brunch on Christmas day and the choice for veggies was extremely limited! Just as well I like fruit The most expensive fruit breakfast I’ve ever tasted so I made sure I had my fill…lol. Apart from the food, the only other thing I didn’t like was the people standing on the street handing out cards and telling you that a woman (or man) could be with you in 20 minutes. It’s not my taste but I knew I was coming to ‘sin city’ but I was still gutted that humans can sell each other for profit and that there is such a large market for it. I’m not a prude in any manner but I’ll never understand that. Anyway I had a small consolation in that I met Elvis and he let me get my photo taken with him but he reminded me that he was ‘freelancing’ and called me ‘pretty mamma’ umpteen times. I liked that and that Elvis is a real charmer, he never changes……………..lolol

Matt, I was r ather intoxicated at the Blonde one so there was no room for nerves. In Caesar's I played cold stone sober and I'm glad I did because you can keep a much clearer head.

Well today I went back to Caesar's and I was looking forward to taking it down again. The first picture is me on the way in feeling pretty confident:)  So the tourney got going and this young hothead and I found ourselves in a pot in the first level.  He had the full regalia on - big hoody and dark glasses....lol  He bet out, I RR with my AK  and he called. The flop comes down Q low low. He's first to act and puts me all in. I fold :(  Bummer!!!!!!!!. So with half my stack left I think I'm going to look for some premium hands and play tight. About 10 hands later I get the pocket rockets and put in a bet 3 times the BB. All fold to this Mexican lady who sticks me all in. My lucky night or so I thought. I do an instacall and she shows my favourite hand- 10 J suited. You know whats coming next....... She hits a J on the flop then another on the turn and I exit Caesar's 3pm :( The second photo is what I think of Caesar's today...lol

Anyway, it wasn't all bad because I managed to buy some lovely clothes from my favourite shop ( 4th photo) before the game started so my thoughts drifted back to that and the helicopter ride I'm going on tomorrow. And Tikay I'm going to the Hoover Dam, Lake Meade and having a champagne lunch at the bottom of the Grand Canyon. All this on my own because Brad is a coward and wont fly in a copter...lol  Oh, and weather was beautiful today and I only needed 3 layers:)

Now I'm going downstairs to the Venetian cardroom to play some $1/2 cash so wish me luck:)

Thanks Scott but im going to have a little brandy now so I'll likely lose it all. My limit is going to be 100 bucks. Maybe I shouldnt do the minimum buy-in as I'll likely get bullied but my plan is to sit back, pretend I'm tight then let it flow...................

If you swim in Lake Meade, please take care to get hosed down afterwards, & carefully block up any, err, orifices in your body.

They have a plague of "intrusive snails" there, & they get, literally, everywhere.

The problem is detailed on hundreds of signs around the Lake.

I'm serious now!

And enjoy Hoover Dam, too. It's monstrously big & clever.

I'd rather you did not take the Helicopter Trip though. They are far & away the most dangerous way of non-fixed-wing flying.

Well folks, I'm oot on my ear with the cash. I got it up to about $160, which wasn't much but lost it all in 2 hands more or less. The last hand I had QQ on the BB. The SB raised it up to $10 and I RR to $20 and he called.  The raises were going wild at the table and nobody was raising less than $10 on $1/2. It was only him and I in the pot after they all fold. The flop came low cards with nothing on- 6 2 9 rainbow. SB raises $20 and I RR $40, he calls. I'm thinking he has nothing or maybe and A 9 or AK and he's missed the flop but has another pop with the continuation bet? I should have known better. Anyway, the turn comes J and he checks and I go all-in:( He thinks and thinks then calls me with his KK.....BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. The river came Ace and I was done. Oh well, tomorrow is another day and that might bring some new joy for me? You never know :)

Love the pics Mad - isn't it ridiculous having to wear jumpers in the desert?! It snowed when I was there last - very bizarre!

The helicopter ride can be a bit bumpy but worth it - and as long as the rotors don't freeze you can glide down if the engines stop working so ignore Tikay.  ::)

DO the helicopter tour of the canyon, probably the scariest yet most exciting thing i have ever done in my life ... you will remember it forever.

I cried when we landed in the canyon - partly from relief I think - but mainly the beauty and just the fact I was somewhere I had wanted to go ever since I can remember.

Took some great pictures overlooking the river - hell of a drop -  how I wish I'd asked my Ex to step back just once more...... ;whistle;

Have a wonderful time - I will never ever forget it.

great read Mad, If you get the chance to do the GrandCanyon trip you must, its superb and something that cannot be done anywhere else in the world, better in the morning toon as the heat isnt a s bad and you get a nice brekkie.

Well the Grand Canyon was brilliant and I'll post some pictures when I get home but right now I'm sick. Just got put out of the Mirage 5pm in 9th after calling a drunken loudmouth when he put me all in on my BB. He was doing all the 'im going to take you out' crap and the table were all moaning about him. I had AQo so I called him and didnt hit against his 10 10 :( Previous to this I went down to a 25 chip, enough for one ante and spun it back up to over 10k again and made the final table. I couldn't believe it! It was a fun game but I'm sick about getting it all the way up and calling him and not hitting. The table were sick too.  This is a photo of me about to jump from my suite :) lol

Oh and you'll never guess who I met again....lol  Elvis!!

lol, nah no cash for 9th as there was only about 50 in it, but thats not what annoyed me the most, it was that drunken pratt!! I wanted to take his chips so bad so I could stand up and shout ' YES YES YES, I AM THE MAN, AM I LUCKY OR JUST DAMNED GOOD'....LOL Anyway, before I got up he was shouting he was the man and I told him yes he WAS the man and he was damned good. Well it's 9.25pm here and I need to be at the airport at 4.30am for a 6.30am flight so I'll maybe try to get some sleep? I'm totally buzzed up though so can't see me sleeping. I was going to do the 7pm Ceasar's but If i went deep, I'd miss my flight so thats why I did the 5pm Mirage. I dont know what to do?? My only poker option now would be against the dealer or cash and I've played played 3 lots of cash and lost them all....lol

go play some blackjack, earn some comp points for the next time ur in vegas, ie, when u go and win the ladies WSOP event.

I might look daft, but I'm not. Gambling aint my thing...lol There is no way in a million years I'd play blackjack...lol As for the ladies WSOP, its tempting but could I do the flights again? It's nearly killed me and I'm really not a good traveller. Why can some folk sleep when travelling and some can't? I'm so jealous of those who can! Still, I might do some sats and see how I get on:)

You are one funny woman:) I laughed when I read that  ;)  I had a wee emotional turn too. I got to wander on my own when we landed and did a bit of self reflection. I asked all the gods (whoever they are) and mother nature to make sure my mum was safe wherever she is and to make sure she was walking a good path in the next life, whatever that may be. Its funny how the heartstrings play when the you are faced with things that are much older and wiser than you could ever be:) That canyon is billions of years old and has probably heard a billion prayers and stories. I hope it heard mines today:)

I got a few books about the Dam, & it's construction. I may quote some interesting facts & figures later.

I can give you one fact. That white tide line on the rocks shows a reduction in water levels recorded over the last 10 years. It's apparently a result of global warming! Oh and the pilot told me that the canyon was as old as the earth itself. I nearly burst out laughing at his stating the blindingly obvious ;whistle;

Looking at the pics it's gone down a fair bit in the last 2 years
