Title: NL Cash Hands Post by: Benny Brox on December 30, 2007, 06:12:32 PM Hi folks, this is a NL low-stake cash game hand:

Although not played at the table long I put EP on 10s to QQs and AK as he did not re-raise the re-raise pre-flop. I obviously put the other guy on AK, KK, QQ and at a stretch JJ (AA could be an option but as I had an A that hand is more unlikely). Pre-flop the small blinds raise of a raise is not much more and with one other caller I have to complete pre-flop with the money that's in the pot hoping to hit two-pair, a set or some sort of strong straight and flush draw. On the flop a 2 or a 7 and I believe an Ace would have won it for me. I didn't put them on a set the way the betting went, they usually slow-roll it to death especially 3-handed. I realise I made a bad call of the initial EP raise and cannot find a reason to justify it other than I like to mix it up, I'm in position and I don't like to play 100% the Harrington way. I just felt I made a mistake in not pushing in on the flop. By the way, the 7 coming down on the turn did not affect me posting this thread I would have done it anyway. I welcome your comments. Cheers. Title: Re: NL Cash Hands Post by: AlexMartin on December 30, 2007, 09:49:08 PM Hi Benny,
Firstly, cold calling with junk hands (which is what Ah4h is) only 75ish BB deep is bad. I mean a HUGE leak. Force yourself to stop doing it. These hands need either multiway action infront of you or deep stacks (>150BB) to be played to their full potential. On the flop you havent hit it hard enough to continue playing. Possibly if you were to view all the action before you might be getting the right price, but with a flush draw visible, you only have 6 clean outs. Just fold. First of all, it would be much better if you didn't post results up and just asked what your move should be. It makes posters too results orientated. Secondly, your better off buying in for full, if you just lost previous hand and forget to top up then fair enough. As for hand itself, fold to raise and to re-raise pf. A4s is a really useless hand and you simply do not have the impled odds to make this call profitable. Saying things like I mix it up is just another way of saying I like to occasionally play hands really badly. This may sound harsh but if you try to justify stuff like this in such a way you will continue to make these mistakes. You have to cut this out of your game. On the flop itself. It's a call giving your range as your getting 2-1 Board: 5c 3c 6s Dead: equity win tie pots won pots tied Hand 0: 34.237% 33.32% 00.92% 169374 4681.33 { Ah4h } Hand 1: 26.143% 21.85% 04.29% 111078 21831.33 { QhQs, JJ-TT, AKs, AKo } Hand 2: 39.620% 35.33% 04.29% 179593 21831.33 { AA, KcKs, QQ-JJ, AKs, AKo } But, flop is not the important point as it's fairly marginal. Pf is where you should really focus your attention.
