Title: A better way to sell? Post by: thetank on December 31, 2007, 05:26:16 AM morning all ;hattip;
I've just sold a few things on e-bay. It cost me £1.50 to list it, £0.13p to add a photo, £5.00 as a final value fee and £3.63 as a paypal fee when I got the payment. So of the £95 I sold these for, I get £84.74 Is there a better way to do things, where I don't lose as much as 10.8%? In particular, is there a safe and more cost efficient way to sell to someone who, although you do not know personally, is an existing customer and has arranged by e-mail to buy from you in the future. ebay fees are ridiculous and why you're seeing less and less being sold on ebay by companies. Title: Re: A better way to sell? Post by: kinboshi on December 31, 2007, 01:10:35 PM There isn't an alternative for individuals to 'safely' sell stuff to strangers over the internet. Which is why ebay continues to make millions of pounds profits on a daily basis.
You could always try gumtree, but obviously be careful about how the transaction takes place. Gumtree is owned by ebay of course. Title: Re: A better way to sell? Post by: Acidmouse on December 31, 2007, 08:14:47 PM List on ebay, if someone bids on your item and your happy with the amount, email them and sort out the transaction outside of ebay, just cancel your auction. Save ebay costs, but not paypal if you accept payment via that.
