Post by: M3boy on January 03, 2008, 04:55:30 PM Get a program called Nero and it will convert it and burn it for you, Nero would take an eternity to convert a 6 hour long avi to dvd!!! There are plenty of free avi to dvd converters that will do it quicker. TBH, I would just burn the avi's as a data disk and get a divx compatible dvd player (about £30). You should be able to fit 2 hours avi onto a single cdr Title: Re: avi. file to DVD Help! Post by: UpTheMariners on January 03, 2008, 05:22:06 PM nero doesnt seem to work on my laptop!
when you say convert to dvd do you mean to .mpg? i've downloaded 'any video converter'. Do i convert avi. to .mpg then burn the .mpg file onto a dvd disk? Title: Re: avi. file to DVD Help! Post by: M3boy on January 03, 2008, 05:26:02 PM No
mpeg = svcd/vcd format DVD format is entirely different. How many files do you have? I assume it is not just one file 6 hours long? Title: Re: avi. file to DVD Help! Post by: UpTheMariners on January 03, 2008, 05:27:36 PM i have 3 avi files
Title: Re: avi. file to DVD Help! Post by: M3boy on January 03, 2008, 05:30:36 PM Seriously Daniel.
Easiest solution is to buy a div-x compatible dvd player (mine is a good make and only £30) Then burn each file onto a CDR as a data disk (5.5p each for decent quality). Your Div-x compatible dvd player will then play them. If you then want anything on DVD , just buy a DVD recorder and record while watching the Divx. Thats what I do, saves messing around with converting files and burning DVD's from the PC. Title: Re: avi. file to DVD Help! Post by: UpTheMariners on January 03, 2008, 05:32:53 PM ok thanks :)up

You should be able to pick up a nice dvd player in the sales ;) Just make sure it is Div-x compatible. Tip - when you watch your first Divx on a Divx compatible DVD player, dont be suprised if nothing happens at first, they take a few seconds to start playing - you'll get used to it ;) Title: Re: avi. file to DVD Help! IFM Most "uploaded" movie files are in avi format (ie Div-x). Really is no need to mess around converting them, now DVD players are being made Div-x compatible. The cost of a Div-x compatible DVD player will be alot less than the cost of buying DVDr's as opposed to CDR's Title: Re: avi. file to DVD Help! Post by: ifm on January 03, 2008, 05:42:34 PM I'm not arguing, i simply answered the question asked with the simplest solution.
