Title: BT20 Cup & Friendlies
Post by: Bongo on January 03, 2008, 07:40:14 PM
I've drawn an easy group - 2 teams from VI and one from V that looks slightly worse than me, so I should hopefully make the knock stages for the 1st time.

Also seems we have some BT20 friendlies which should be fun.

Bad news is I probably won't be going all out against Ironside on Sunday now :(

you are a bloody luckbox

2 teams much better than me 1 that i will beat

btw sunday my whole team is those low on form

I've got Sheriff (!) and two Div IV teams, one that's getting relegated and one that's, er, promoting to III in OD.
I think OD stands for Oh Dear, in this case.

I was planning on playing my whole first team to keep them in form, but with BT20 starting so soon will probably need to rest some to keep PFL up.

Shame, I wanted to see if I could hit Superb Top Order ;)

Blonde BT Cup (Or ladder perhaps?)

Have the ladder based on the final OD group tables, then you challenge the team either immediately or two above to a BT20 friendly when you are both out of the BT20 cup?

Or perhaps just a free for all but all the results are posted on a thread somewhere.

If you want to sort something out that would be great, but I guess it will have to wait until we know more details of how many friendlies we can play...

Our group sucks!

Chances of a blonde 1-2 are, ahem, slim.

Neverends....whilst not expecting to progress I was at least hoping for one competitive game!   :'(

But no I draw two teams from IV inc one who finished top!     ;tightend;

Ah but you've drawn another team from div VI I hear you say.......hmmm...but he finished top plus he's been around for years and I reckon keeps getting deliberately relegated to boost cash reserves.

Well that's what seeing his 370k rated international batsman, that he bought for £9 million, leads me to believe anyway!   ::)

Still at least there's two home games so lets hope the attendances have been tweaked to more realistic levels as T20 is always the most popular version round Leicester way!

i've got 2 Div V sides and 1 Div Vi

All got better sides on paper than me

Dont mind as I want to rest the guys

At least I don't have to worry about fitness as I currently have 29 players all with sublime rating!   rotflmfao

Surely 40 overs of T20 doesn't affect fitness much anyway?  :dontask:

Good luck everyone!   :)up

i've 20 on sublime and 2 on energetic, they are getting multi netted in hope they'll be good enough for div V next season

I've drawn three division VI sides although one of them is better than me and another would be decent if they knew how to deal with PFL.  Should make the knockout stages without too much trouble.

Ive got no chance, two Div IV teams, one with an england cap player bt rating 240k or more, i can only win one match.
Oh well.

Ah so it is...i'm sure they had the dividing line between 2nd and 3rd when I looked last night.

They did earlier today also because i've drawn two div IV teams and a weak Div VI team - i was planning to play GFI against the worst of the two Div IV teams in the hope that i can sneak 2nd in the league and go thru.

Having read this thread i double checked again and saw its been changed so i'm tinkering with the team again to rotate entire squad to play every game with a mixture of 1st teamers and squad players.

Three division 5 teams all finished in top 3 or better, all 3 games away.

Is gate revenue shared?

50:50 split on gates!

My opponents wont be happy then.
All my 3 games are at home, where it is currently undergowing ground improvement...

I've no chance in my league either.  Div IV, V and VI opponents.

Posted 215-2 in my innings vs a Div V1 opponent.

And that's the end of the match. Purple Dinosaurs won by 123 runs.
Purple Dinosaurs 149-7
Athletico Foxy 26-10

Oh well,  at least I can shake their hand and wish them luck in divIII next season!!   rotflmfao

26 was a recovery from being 3-6 at one point which included a five wicket over.   ;surrender;

I scraped a 3 run win against the danger side in the group so should now make the knockout stages.

My reserves had an easy time on TIE...

1st team ready to attack Ironside tomorrow!

Title: Re: BT20 Cup & Friendlies
Post by: amcgrath1uk on January 05, 2008, 07:24:35 PM
Playing a div V side, keeping stamina for next season so have gone for 3 TIE's

Batted first and scored 177-6 which being on a green pitch I was fairly happy with. My wk/batter scored 83no from 48 deliveries and my new allrounder scored 48 from 29.

in reply their star batter scored 114 from 61 deliveries, allowing them to sneak home with 3 balls spare

I'm in a group with 2 Div V teams, and 1 Div IV team who appears to be a lot stronger than me. Fortunately, he weakened his team for the match, and I beat him by a few runs, so looks like I may also be going through to the KO stages for the first time (I've always been put in impossible groups in the past)!

I've finally managed to avenge my defeat to Ironshire!

Was very happy to see my destructive fast bowler take some wickets, as he's just come back into form and now seems to be more useful than before...

Good game today Matt.

You have just beaten 7 or 8 of my best 11, but all have performed well at Div 5 level.
Your team should be very competative next year - unlike me it seems.

Thank you squire, rested a couple myself with the 20/20 games being played but that was about 8 or 9 of my 1st team for next season - don't know why but most of the division 5 teams appear to have a slightly better squad going off the ratings yet we always seem to give a good account of ourselves pulling together for the win, then i look at reporters summary and find again we're second best in the ratings  :dontask:

Won convincingly today

bowled them out for 101. Their top scorer made 64 he's rated less then 2k lol. My keeper took 6 catches, and my backup all rounder took 4-12 from 4 overs!

Knocked them off for the loss of just 1 wicket in less than 9 overs.

in the ratings I made mediocre in 4 categories, happy with that being on a TIE as well :)

playing a div V side today. unless I win and the team above loses, I'll be out

Batting first and speeding along 79-1 from 7!

Wooden spoon game against another div VI champion team today after both have been heavily beaten by the div IV sides in our league.

So was hoping to be competitive today and have set a reasonable target....

End of Over 20: 179-2, runrate=8.95
Bryant 4-0-22-1
Cornick* 18 (15 balls)
Ross 1 (2 balls)

However this guy has his 349k rated international opening the batting so game will likely depend on how much of the strike he gets!!

In walks Lampard....battrick rating 382,869........£193,183 p/w.............strong batting form.......Part of the South Africa squad.

Crowd waits expectantly..........

0.1 W Mansfield to Lampard
Oooooh, a spectacular diving catch by Sam at second slip. His hands are softer than a baby's bottom.

Golden duck for the golden bat!!!!  Unbelievable!!!!       ;yippee;

Losing my 1st game on a TIE ( with 3 balls to go) has cost me a place in the knockout phase

Scored a mammoth 243-1 today, with my competent opener scoring 141no from 70 balls, and my star keeper/batter getting 88 from 47.

restricted them to 218-3 so happy in the end :)

Sadly no.  A mere 27 players doesn't come close to the squads of 45+ I've seen in some teams!

How do you pay your wage bill?

By buying sub-standard rubbish and paying minimum wage

Good luck Sunday.

You too!

Things are going fairly well in the 20:20s for me... got through the group stages, got a bye to the 2nd round, beat a div V team in round 3, beat a div III team in round 4, and face a div IV team tomorrow in round 5...

I'm still trying to work out the benefit of staying in the tournament though!!! Apart from hammering player's fitness and getting a dreadful 10k/day income.... most of my players have dropped to invigorated :(
