Poker and Transformers? All I need is to hear this guy has some involvement in the creation of sausage rolls and he officially becomes my god.

Wow.

Orenstein is successful outside of his poker playing, both in poker and other pursuits. A Holocaust survivor who spent much of the end of World War II in various concentration camps, Orenstein became a toymaker who, decades later, convinced Hasbro to start producing Transformers. He holds over 100 other patents, and aside from Transformers, the best-known of these inventions is U.S. Patent 5,451,054 which gave Orenstein the exclusive right in the United States to detect and display hole cards in poker games. The ability to show a player's hidden cards to an audience is one of the principal reasons that poker is so popular today.

That's the definition of returning from adversity. What a legend, particularly with regards to his charity work.

Wasn't Late Night Poker the first to show holecards?

LNP's were 'under the table' cameras which are different to the 'lipstick cameras' as favoured for US poker shows.

The point is that credit for "changing poker" should go to LNP and not an american carpetbagger.

Henry Orenstein was granted a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for the under-the-table hole-card camera on September 19, 1995.

His patent predates LNP doesn't it?

ok I withdraw the carpetbagger remark, but I still stand by LNP as providing the breakthrough in tv poker.
