I'd stick the dates into lastminute.com to get a rough idea

Probably too early to get a decent deal. Most flights and accommodation prices won't even be out. Those that are will be at premium prices. wait till the autumn before you book, but start monitoring the prices on the usual travel websites.

As above. Prices wont be out yet for next year. I'd start checking Virgin and BMI around March to see what prices they offer. Anything around the £325 mark for a return flight should be snapped up. Their normal rates are around £450 i believe, but they will occasionally do offers. I was waiting for cheap flights for this March. In the end nothing came up and the cheapest way to vegas was £390 with a 2 hour stop in LA with United from Heathrow. You should be able to get flights with one stop all year round with an American company for around the £350 mark, but this can be a pain.
I'd check hotel websites for their best deals but in general these wont come out until 6 months before you travel. Good hotels on the strip that you could get for £70 a room per night are nyny, mgm, paris , planet hollywood and ti. So basically, you should be able to do a week in a decent hotel with flight for £700. If you want to go higher than this then i'd check out rates at the venitian, bellagio and theHotel at Mandalay. A bit lower and luxor, monte carlo and imperial palace prices can be dirt cheap.

Orleans is a nice place to stay off strip. Cheaper than strip hotels and better quality rooms as well.

The Orleans itself has a nice cardroom also.

Another option is to stay downtown (hotels generally cheaper) - plenty of card rooms all within walking distance unlike the strip.

BMI direct from manchester next week is £299! When I actually want to go (well I want to go nextweek too but no plans for that :P) in April they are £450 and not direct. Cheapest is AA for about £340 atm.

Hotel depends on how many you want to share with and whether on or off strip. But will be pretty cheap.

I went 12-19 December and booked it the week before.

£279 return with mytravel.com (now part of Thomas Cook) from Manchester direct.

have costs gone up a bit recently. Wanting to go end of May and cant find flights for less than £480 or hotel/flight deals for about £600 (4 nights). That was through expedia and a few others.

Would appreciate any advice if there is cheaper available?

You're atarting to get into peak time end of may.
Try looking for a 7 night stay(if you have the time/leave to be there that long) they are often cheaper on expedia than 4 nights!!!!
Also, for 7 days look for a departure day of tues-weds-thurs. These are usually cheaper.
Another thing to bear in mind is changes around airport/flight companies contracts around fueling/stopping. It's much easier getting a departure out of Gatwick than what a return is.

For a little bit more cash you can get a much nicer hotel on strip.
I flew direct with Virgin in January, and got 4 nights at the Signature at MGM Grand for 650. Fantastic hotel suites and pretty good value.

What is the fascination about a great "hotel suite" ?

Poker room is far more important, as thats where you spend most of your time.

I agree M3, I plan to spend as little time as possible in my room and 98% of that will be with my eyes firmly shut. My mate actually fell to sleep in the casino standing up last time he went.

No hotel is all about (in order): Location, Location, Price.

For last minute deals, Fatwallet seems unbeatable - I got a great MGM deal off there. For planning longer term, it's a good idea to register directly on the emailing lists of the hotels as they often do good deals.

Regarding location, The Sahara is a bit isolated, although the monorail link is very good. For somewhere more convenient but affordable, The Tropicana is quite cheap, but only a few minutes walk from the MGM cardroom. (Worth paying $10 a night extra for Island Tower room)

For flights I think it's also a good idea to register directly with the airlines. American Airlines in particular send me lots of very cheap flight offers, which is a bit frustrating as they dropped their Glasgow services so only fly from Manchester and London.

Another vote for fatwallet here, basically the rooms i booked at MGM worked out as for every 3 nights in the hotel get the fourth for free.

No need to put the words "hotel" and "suite" in inverted commas. They're not foreign words, nor do they make some kind of alien made-up phrase when written in sequence. In fact many people around the world have enjoyed staying in a hotel suite. I'm using my own inverted commas here purely for reasons of grammar and legibility.

I primarily go to Vegas to play poker, but there happen to be lots of other attractions in the city. Including thousands of spectacular hotel rooms. If you prefer to sleep in Circus Circus or the Imperial Palace and eat at McDonalds all day (as long as you're able to play poker), then that's up to you, but I don't think there's any shame in appreciating some small luxuries in life.

As it happens Las Vegas is one of the places where you can get one of the best rooms (or, if I may tentatively use the aforementioned ridiculed word 'suite' here) for the lowest amount of money in the world. And I would rather pay 20 or 30 pounds a night extra for my cotton covered duvet, 42 inch plasma screen and power shower with built-in radio. But that's just my personal choice.

Certainly no pop intended.

I use inverted comma's when I want to stress a particular word or phrase.

Offending people unintentionally is a speciality of mine though ;)

I am "deeply" offended by this comment and feel that Alex should be banned from Blonde ASAP.

This sort of flaming needs to be stamped out.

Off out for my 9th Vegas trip on 31 May

Flying with Virgin ( economy out, premium economy back )

3 nights in the Golden Nugget followed by 10 nights in a suite at the Platinum

works out at about £1200 each

The platinum looks superb , suites for about 90-100 quid a night, good quality and a 10 min walk to the junstion of Flamingo and the strip ( we usually saty ta the Bellagio and it takes longer than 10 mins from your room to the strip there )

only dowber is thatw e did have business class flights with Maxjet booked ate only £125 each more than the virgi (http://travis.bosscasinos.com/re.asp?name=POK&camp=REF5111_0&go=http%3a%2f%2fwww.virginpoker.com)n (http://travis.bosscasinos.com/re.asp?name=POK&camp=REF5111_0&go=http%3a%2f%2fwww.virginpoker.com) flight till Maxjet went bust

bmi flights from manchester seem to be getting cheaper for the next 2 weeks departures. Does anyone know if this is common and waiting to book close to last minute will be worthwhile?
