Title: jacks
Post by: gatso on January 11, 2008, 11:59:49 AM
DTD live £50 FO. 2 hours in, last hand before 1st break, blinds 100-200, blinds will be the same after the break but with a 25 ante. Average stack around 5k. long, long way to the money

I'm UTG, look down at  Jc Js and make it 600. 2 MP callers, blinds pass.

 8s Th 7h

I put in 1,200. Pass, call. Caller is new to the table and I have no info. 4.5k in the pot.

  8s Th 7h       Tc

I check, oppo shoves for 8,800.

I have 9,650 back.

So if we pass we still have 2x average

If we call and win we have 22, 950, a massive stack at this point

If we call and lose we're in trouble.

What's your move?

What i do here is look around to see if the cash games have started yet (and if TK is there yet ;)) you're bound to be behind here

Shoved with a heart draw I reckon, easy call.

I would pass like a big nit, in live poker this is actually the 10 in my experience alot more than on the internet. People play their hand more due to getting some approval from the table etc.

cheers. glad there's a difference of opinion on this as I took a full 2 minutes to make my decision on this one, still not entirely sure I got it right.

I caused the problem anyway, should never have checked the turn, I hate that move.

anyway, I called and he turned over   Ahrt    8h

result is irrelevant

agreed...that's the thing with a board like this OOP though..it can be tricky once you get called on the flop to go ahead with it.

so how would you play the turn? I feel I should've led for about 2.5-3k here

I agree..my chips are in the middle here. The "oh the board is dangerous and I don't know what he's going to do" factor can prevet you from betting out...it's still the right thing to do though.
